    Well Eric, that watch 116520 is a stunning watch, very clean IMO! That's my favourite Daytona actually, I don't go for the black bezel etc. It has been discontinued in 2016, so it's a keeper!!!!

    Keep it , it has a perfect dial, the grey circles at the registers are much much nicer than the ones at the Zenith or the ceramic Daytona.
    I have one and at my opinion if I had to keep only one watch from my collection, it would be definitely this one 😊

      The off-center sundials and silver color kill this watch. Either zenith or ceramic but the 116520 is the red-headed step child.

    I have that exact watch, and I also have the 116500 with ceramic. I know what you mean about the 116520, but I would caution you against selling it. I’ve noticed the 116520 continues to go up in value, and I suspect it’s because of the in-house movement combined with the superior bracelet. Plus Rolex continues to make similar bezels but only in precious metals. Rolex views the steel/metal bezels as higher end pieces. And the 116520 does have a level of elegance above the 116500. It’s dressier while still being sporty. Over time the 116520 is going to become a HOT watch. Keep it, as I have done.

    Great vid Eric as always! I'm getting a 116520 black this week and went through some of the same decisions. The Zenith is more collectable and more romanic so it has more charm, but the new bracelet (I went newer model with the long clasp) makes the difference for me. I have a 5 digit gmt and sub on the old bracelet and I just don't want another 5 digit bracelet. Everything can't be bought with an eye for collectability. Two raddley bracelets are enough for me. So I want the steel bezel daytona with the solid bracelet and clasp and went with that. Something to think about. Enjoy whatever you do my friend!

    Eric,
    I love Daytona's, I think the steel Daytona is the most awesome of all of them, due to the fact that of 10 Daytona's made 6 are two tone, 3 are full gold and one steel.
    I would suggest hold this one, wait until you find the Zenith movement Daytona.

    I wish I saw this vid on my birthday when it came out! Because you know what. I used to hate Daytonas but I've come to appreciate them deeply. My grail is the last Zenith, so the one before this one, but with the infamous "Patrizzi dial". I remember my dentist used to wear that exact one and I always remembered it. I fell in love with that weird brownish patina on the subdial rings. But when it comes down to it, any pre-ceramic Daytona to me is just gorgeous now.

    Hi Eric, been following your vids since you were with CRM. My birthday past a while ago and I was thinking of trading my 116520 Black dial. Instead, I kept my Daytona and added a 116613LB Smurf dial (on RubberB).
    But in my research to determine my 116520's market value, I realized i had a APH Dial with Chromalight. Which is apparently rarer and more valuable.
    Eric, am I mistaken and this is not really anything that special? Or is my 116520 worth like 2-3k more than a standard 116520?

I'll be looking to flip it unworn, full box /papers etc, is the combination in good demand in the market ? could you offer an opinion on its possible resell price ? I dont want to passup the allocation from my AD since they may dicard me in the future if I dont show up. Your opinion means a lot , cheers JFC (a fan from Canada)

    Eric, you’re the kind of guy who gravitates towards alway being seen with “heavy hitters” on your wrist. You’ll always skip watches like these in your watch box. My advice, keep the watch. They’re getting hard to find in good condition. This watch looks so classy with a white linen shirt. Why sell it only to add lots of cash for a Zenith Daytona?

    116520 is a more wearable/durable watch, so it depends what your intentions are.

    It's kinda a 2 part question so it deserves a 2 part answer.
    1) That one you're wearing's gotta go out and land on a wrist that'll love it.
    2) The Zenith seems to be you're heart's desire...(at least at the moment). So...that's it. I don't know your dial preference...Panda, Newman, but whatever...
    -Just let that one go to someone who'll treat it like a princess.

    I'd say go for the last of the pre-ceramic with the minty blue lume, you don't need the Zenith version and besides this is a better movement than those. I don't care for steel/ceramics on a sports type watch, and they've made them too large anyway.

    Eric, whether to sell it depends on if it’s one of the “typo” dials. If it is, I’d keep it. Three months or so ago a “typo” 116520 sold at auction for 65k.

  • @lecorsaire2283
    @lecorsaire2283 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I would probably keep it. They’re definitely going to get more expensive as more and more ceramic Daytonas go on the market.
    It’s very likely that Rolex isn’t going to make any more of these steel bezel Daytonas. At least not in the next 20-30 years.

    • @lecorsaire2283
      @lecorsaire2283 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mr Meaner I never said it was rare but they’re not exactly common either. While Rolex makes a million matches per year steel Daytonas are only a small fraction of that amount. Otherwise you wouldn’t have pay double the retail for a steel ceramic Daytona.
      I said they will become more expensive as we get further from 2015/2016.
      Also as time goes on the amount of these Daytonas in mint condition will go down.
      Look at how much a mint 16520 costs.

  • @dimitrianid2417
    @dimitrianid2417 ปีที่แล้ว

    I also agree with the dude who said that the Zenith Daytona is not a true Rolex. Even if it's value is higher. I want a Rolex to have a Rolex movement. The Zenith being "worth the money" as you put it, contradicts your previous argument that it doesn't give you that "fire". Is it about the value? Or the fire? At the end, you seem to over think if you like it or not..
    Personally, I find it stunning. Cheers!

    I sold the same watch a few years ago and have been regretting since. I think you should keep it until you found another special one as its replacement. BTW do you think 116618LB is a keeper? I love it but just don’t wear it often enough. And I’m thinking of selling it to trade for a 116508 green dial. What do you think?

    • @nda6228
      @nda6228 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think 116618LB (especially the sunburst dials) is a sleeper, don’t see that many and I personally believe their value is more stable than the price of 116508. If you’re looking to trade for something with potential of growth I would say consider 116509 blue dial. If you’re going for the looks I would take the 116508.

    Hi Eric, love your show. But I would like to know what is the fascination with Zenith Daytonas, I just don't get it. I can understand that when you have some very expensive watches, that maybe a Rolex steel daytona might seem a bit average. But that's OK. I have a couple of expensive to me watches also, but the watch I wear most is my Speedmaster. I am starting to feel that more dressy watches interest me more these days though, as steel sports watches are all looking the same from 5 yards away. I'm looking out for a Breguet or a Blancpain. I don't think anybody pays any attention to sports Rolex or the likes anymore. They have gotten very common and there for not interesting any more. A victim of there own success I would say. Anyway I wish I was in Miami, weather looks great, pissing it down here in N. Ireland

    Fully understand your problem. I have the same watch and really wished I had bought the black faced one, but I have a submarina so went for the white face. Should have bought both black and white of course for about £14,000 for the two. To add insult to injury, like your dad I had the chance for the Zenith movement but chose the Rolex movement, both the same price! Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Love the videos, my vote is you keep the Daytona. P

    I had the opportunity to get a Zenith Daytona, I passed on it because of how jangly the bracelet was. I don't regret not buying it, as I personally think regret is a wasted emotion. There is nothing you can do about past missed opportunities.

    Zenith is so underrated. If they only up the power reserve and adjust a few aesthetics of their watches, I feel Zenith and Grand Seiko will be the next wave of brands to get ultra popular in the next decade that will sit comfortably next to Rolex as a competitor.

    Hey Eric. I would keep it. ITS A DAYTONA.. lol. But I understand ur in the watch business.. Every watch a have bought I still own. I just can’t seem to let go of any of them even tho Toying with the idea of trading up. Keep up the great work.

    If you already have the white dial ceramic daytona, I guess your best option is either to flip the white dial 116520 for a zenith black dial daytona or the black dial 116520. Personally, I think black dial daytonas are classier and easier to read the time. If money is no object to you, keep it and hunt for a zenith black dial! Prices for these babies will only continue to hike as they are already discontinued.
