Why do you keep saying he's been inefficient? His shooting splits are 47/40/100. His true shooting is 61%. In what world is that inefficient? His box plus/minus, offensive rating, and on/off splits are also fantastic. And if you look specifically at this stretch without Maxey, he's not just putting up good rookie numbers. He's putting up All-NBA numbers. Did you look at the wrong player's stats?
Best thing about McCain is he doesn’t reply on any one thing. He isn’t ridiculously fast or just a lights out shooter. His IQ is just unreal. I can imagine him being super reliable. Would hardly get injured as he isn’t super pacey. I cant wait to see how he develops
He's good. He takes a bunch of shots but it's not shot chucking per se. He gets open and takes the 3 without hesitating which is very different from seeing double coverage and jacking something up. Love his movement all over the court and his driving is solid as well. Plays loose but under control. He deserves all the minutes he gets and sixers would be smart to throw some more challenges at him to keep developing his hame
I think his ceiling could be a Brunson/Curry hybrid. He plays more like brunson on the ball with his craftiness, pace, and strength as an undersized guard and off the ball hes always moving like Curry and knows how to get his shots off quick.
RELAXXXXXX holy crap he's playing on the worst team in the league and has won a singular game without joel lmao. At best he's an unathletic tyreese maxey.. at best!
I've watched a handful of 76'ers games this season and I was super suprised by his on ball creation and driving game, as well as some tough midrange buckets. Since he can play on or off ball I think he'll be super valuable for Philly as a super versatile combo guard, atleast offensivley, or a spark plug off the bench.
I'm trying not to get too excited with him but since he's actually gotten minutes he has immediately started playing like a star. Every game he has been great, scoring efficiently 20-30 points and it's not just being spoonfed some corner 3s with a hot hand, he has legitimate outlier skills and instincts off the ball and is much more skilled and craftier than anticipated on ball. Genuinely wonder what his upside is but between the eye test and the raw production this early in his career, it' just seems like he has actual star level upside, crazy to get that twice in Maxey and McCain like they have recently
Im a Philly fan, i must say i kinda saw this coming Personally, im over embiid and George. In two years i truly see maxey and McCain as our two best players and the two guys who will lead us into the new era of Philly basketball
gj to all the guys who googled his stats to look smart and start arguments about his efficiency. now you're the same as SAS, you look up stats and don't watch games.
Nah, the Dame/CJ problem was both played _smaller_ than 6'3" on defense and sucked at screen navigation. McCain is a big 6'2" 195 and already a better point-of-attack defender than they ever were. Once he gets to his mid-20's he should be able handle anyone under about 230-235 and play closer to 6'5"
If only Maxey wasn't a defensive liability he'd be a perfect fit next to McCain. I think Morey should seriously think about trading Maxey. Just like Simmons wasn't a right fit for Embiid if only the Sixers traded Simmons at his peak value, what could have been unburdened by what has been.
As a sixers fan, if we dont have a strong comeback, we should trade embiid for as many picks as we can get, pg for kuminga and a pick or two, and rebuild aeound maxey, kuminga, and mcain.
McCain is actually way ahead at the minute. I doubt it will finish that way because his role will change when all their stars are back. But right now, I'm not sure you can make a great argument for anyone else.
Maxey is on max contract now. Embiid's prime start to end. So, yeah it is always good to draft well, but 76ers situation isn't that good. Even if McCain is new Maxey.
Yeah, I was disappointed when the Sixers drafted him for this reason. I didn't think it made sense to take a player who is redundant with your most promising young player. They might both end up being awesome, but you're going to end up with the Lillard/McCollum issue.
Not gonna expect him to stay as a consistent starter unless he can keep this up until like late december, just another overreacting to a hot streak like with gg jackson from memphis a year or two ago whenever they had like 5000 injuries. Seperate problem that phily is cooked and were the minute paul george decided to stay as a professional podcaster and move to Philadelphia.
Gg isn’t bad, but I get your comp. Only thing is, McCain has actual comfort on the floor. Have you seen his level of repositioning? He stays active and finds a way to stay involved. Not to compare him to his skillset, but it reminds me of how Steph became elite. He worked off DHO and maneuvered with off ball screens. It’s pretty impressive. Regression with him having more film time to plan against him is likely, but his value is huge
GG Jackson was never efficient though. He had a couple good games. His actual percentages sucked. McCain is shooting 47/40/100. He has 61% true shooting percentage. Also, McCain is doing a ton of stuff he came in with a reputation for doing. GG was known to be raw and a bad shooter.

Haven't seen the video that far yet, but I'ma make the joke that he was probably saying 'an efficient shooter' instead, ehe
Said inefficient around the rim but I still disagree considering he an undersized guard
I know. I'm so confused, he references this many times too.
