I like how you’ll even break down plays that end in a missed shot. Shows that you aren’t just looking at the highlights. Youre watching the whole game.
The ability to create on the ball and move off the ball is such an insane thing to have as a rookie. He's presence on the floor is basically screaming for opportunities over opportunities
I love these "weak draft class" years. It just means that the good players are spread out all over the place and it shows who the really good GM's are. Getting a top pick when there are obvious stand outs is much easier than having a more even field to evaluate. The 76ers have been getting some good young players over the years.
The editing and narration discussion of how McCain scores in various ways was just so smooth. Excellent piece of sync'd editing and voice over. Subbed!
12:25 This play was even better than you mentioned, because that whole time he was going under the basket he was staring down the shooter in the corner, which drew Bron away from the cutter and led to the basket.
What makes him so good besides shooting skills, confidence & ability is his HIGH basketball IQ. It's like he's thinking 2 steps ahead and always in the right spot.
As a sixers fan, im mostly dead inside, moreso than most seasons. But this kid is so much fun to watch. Its similar to the fun of the process years, and provides an out so i dont have a psychotic break
Jared Mccain is playing probably the most efficient and consistent rookie season from a point guard or any player ever that should answer your question
He has elite basketball IQ. His ability to adapt is impressive. He got his shot blocked all through summer league and looked bad for the most part. Watching score at all three levels and create for others is fun to watch
I wish the Sixers would consider starting fresh, building around Mcain and Maxey this offseason. I'm just so tired and frustated that Joel and PG are constantly injured.
Yeah definitely like what I see from him this far, although as you mentioned using or improving on his left hand along w developing a more consistent floater can add to his efficiency in the paint
We'll flopping is an art of getting fouls which benefits your Team, even Dennis Rodman used to flop to gain ball possession, only casuals see flopping as a Weak move but don't know its benefits 🤦
I been saying Jared Mccain was gonna be good, really wanted him on the Heat. (Mostly cause I just like the guy but he's playing better than anyone thought)
McCain is such a good player, one of the best rookies ive seen and not only could possibly be a future star, he is so charismatic and funny which makes him one of my favorite players already.
Seeing him pass out of a shot just to sprint to the three point line to reload for a three-pointer reminds me so much of Steph. We're finally starting to see the kids that grew up watching steph come into the league. Working for it off the ball and with easy cuts rather than just pulling heat checks from the logo. Love to see it.
His confidence and passion and pure glee while he plays makes him such a joy to watch, he really is like Maxey 2.0. But he’s doing a,k this a couple years earlier. It’s wild. And the kid isn’t just hitting shots but he is making the correct decision like 99% of the time. Which is insane for a rookie guard.
McCain performance is NOT a surprise. This is a result of his hard work. He's been disciplined physically and mentally for the last four years. His unique kindness and family oriented behavior is a big part of his success on the court. To all of the past TROLLERS, this is a reminder that cream always rises to the TOP-
Correction: You said there's been one overwhelming positive to the Sixers' season, but there has actually been a second overwhelming positive: Guerschon Yabusele
This channel deserves more subs and more views. Most NBA TH-camrs are not as nuanced in their analysis. I don't think that I'll ever hear :"He cooked" on this channel. lol
He's been carrying a heavy load so he definitely deserves some leeway, but he's really struggled shooting the ball. 39% from the field and 26.5% from 3 through his first 8. Today was only his 2nd game of the season shooting above 48%.
It’s exciting when young players are this good because they can improve which is scary. He’s already averaging 25ppg as a rookie and has great iq. He could be built round potentially
It’s wild to see him go from “ehh I dunno if he will even get big minutes” to finishing out games for us and being our best, most consistent player, it’s wild. I have never seen anything like it and I hope he doesn’t think too much about it and just keeps ballin.
Doubt we have worry about that. If you see his TH-cam Videos of him throughout HS, you can see the kid's super focused on Working and achieving his goals.
I love the kid but his ceiling is has a definitive ceiling to growth for the 3 reasons you said and one you didnt. He's got a slow handle & is very right hand dominant. He needs to work on his left extensively, particularly as a finisher as you mentioned. Playing next to Embiid who draws defenders insider doesnt help as someone like Curry benefitted from open lanes next to Draymond. But, pairing him with Maxey is smart because maxey is one of the better G finishers in the league with his touch. I do see him getting better because both he & Maxey work extensively on their games. His biggest flaw on offense is the lack of explosiveness to drive by guys who he gets a step on like you described but I do think he can improve on it slightly with more off-season work. His passing; not vision is lacking, if you watch him its clear he sees the passes, he's just not good enough of a ball handler to make the pass on time, he needs to work on passing angles to take the next step on offense or he will be limited to a bench scoring role. He & Maxey can work as a small G lineup but only if both can playmake together for others. Finally his defense, he lacks the ability to be a good defender simply because of his lack of size & length. Steph Curry overcame this with a defensive scheme that hid him as much as possible AND by being a very smart defender. I'm not sure if he has the spacial awareness to become a good defender. But having a healthy Joel Embiid will overcome that as Embiid is a top 5-10 defense by himself.
I think most of these are definitionally not a ceilings, a ceiling is something you can't break or "aren't supposed to be able to break" but all of what you said are skills he can and is expected to improve on over his time at the league. It's like saying someone's ceiling is how good they are at shooting-there is no ceiling you just get better at it or you don't. The last one is definitely an actual ceiling, he's a small gaurd and that's going to make it hard for him no matter what. Everything else he can improve on
@@shubanobi2206 Maybe a poor choice of words but he has an NBA body at 6'2 200, so he wont grow into being a better athlete. That will really limit his ceiling, especially if hes next to Maxey & doesnt develop his passing. If he does he should be a good player next to the pair of Maxey & Embiid.
I think one of the most important parts about his game is confidence. He believes he's the best rookie and he's obviously used to the spotlight at this point.

I for real thought he was gonna be a good player not this good right off but I don’t understand why people thought he wasn’t gonna be good he’s hella confident which is a big factor
Its MCW story no doubt, I am just saying that he has a similar advantageous situation where the team is bad and does not play anything , he's first option while it is not a first in in a healthy team , but what will happen to the rest of his career? when Embiid, PG and Maxey come back he will be 6th man and his stats will suddenly decrease
I wanted McCain on the Magic more than any other player this offseason - was preaching that he was the best player in this draft all pre-draft, a cross between Steph, Brunson, and Donovan Mitchell. I thought he was the player most likely to achieve star status and knew he would make it to 10 or lower in the draft due to league idiocy, and wanted the Magic to trade up this draft for him - the Magic could use an offensive stud at the guard position, especially point guard.
I was saying the same thing. Wouldn't have said he was the best player but he was far and away the best fit for the Magic, a great offensive player to help an already great defense.
I think the 76ers can rebuild, very quickly, by trading Embiid for 2 high quality role players. McCain, Maxey and PG13 with a deep bench can be amazing.

Couldn't agree more! Really hope we get to see him with the other guys healthy.
I know right. His plays basically told Nurse that "look, I know you hate playing a rookie, but if you don't play me more, you'll lose your job"

Excellent player breakdown 👏🏼
Despite Daryl Moreys mess in the trade market. His draft picks have been golden.
Maxey and McCain as late as they were in round 1 is crazy.

Jared McCain PROFESSIONAL SCORER 💯
I smell a Dalton video coming! I can't wait!
From what you’ve seen so far who’s better Jared or Dalton & why?
Definitely Jared right now. Dalton's been awesome, but Jared's shown serious on-ball capability on a whole different level.
