Me and the family are having real issues cooking dumplings and not having the fillings just taste way to hard and not nice, do you have any plans on what not to do and what to do when making your own dumplings
That would’ve been difficult to do the microwave steam method. You’re meant to only cut off a small corner of the plastic bag which isn’t enough space to take out a dumpling. Otherwise, I agree because I’m curious what the veggie ones would’ve been like not in the soup.
Emmy you have to try the soup dumplings from Costco and steam them. They are SO GOOD!! I’m terrified they’ll stop carrying them so I have several bags in the deep freeze.
The Mila dumplings or the Bibigo? Both of them are great imo, but I've heard nothing but good things about Mila (and I heard they just expanded distribution across the US!)
Well to be fair you didn’t try the veggie ones the right way so don’t know how they’d be done with either recommended method - the mushiness was not the fault of the dumpling itself
It's mushy because you put them in a soup??? You're supposed to steam them and have a sauce on the side. Poor little dumplings - never had a chance to live up to their full potential :(
Hehe! I watched you take a bite of the first dumpling and as you tried to pick it up, the skin broke and the soup fell into the bowl. The second time, you said, “let’s try it with he soup this time,” and once again, the soup from the dumpling fell into the bowl before you got it to your mouth. I was sitting here giggling!
I don’t think your taste-test was really accurate, until you did the chicken. By adding other items, it changes the flavor, so how can you, 100%, be able to taste the original flavor? I really appreciated you did that at the end.
It could have been a nice experiment to cook two of each flavour with each of the three methods so you can compare them. It's hard to know whether the vegetable ones do a good job of containing soup or have their own flavour when they were cooked in the soup.
That chili-crisp pile is one of the best inventions! Just a mild warmth which doesn’t overwhelm the food, and the garlic and sesame oil add so much flavor! One jar only lasts me about 3 bowls of noodles!
I always put my soup dumplings in a soup even before the tiktok craze cause It just add more food into a meal like vegetables, noodles or more meat like chicken.
I love soup dumplings, I've had them at restaurants twice this year, once for my birthday. I usually put it on my spoon, then break it open with my chopsticks to let the soup out.
I never understood why Emmy mutes when she chews or slurps. In a show or podcast or something of the like I get it, but in a cooking/food channel I feel like people are okay or even expect/want the chewing or slurping. I know I do, it's just weird when the audio just dips out and it's just silence.
I really like TJs pork and ginger dumplings. I've discovered that the electric lunchbox which emmymade did videos on a while ago does a great job steaming a small number of dumplings with very little mess.
I agree with you, I liked the pork ones the best. But overall I was kind of underwhelmed with the flavor and texture maybe if I had put some chili crisp oil on it it would be better. Also when you microwave those chicken ones I’m surprised that you could not hear me yelling at the screen😂 Trying to warn you that they were going to be as hot as lava
Thing is, when I see the word dumplings, I think if the suet kind we would have as either a baked side, or something put on top of a hearty stew to sort of boil, steam and bake all in one go, proper thick stodgy things that are just there for filler to make the belly full... :P
My husband and I put these in our finished instant ramen after microwaving them. Helps make a lazy dinner more satisfying, plus if the dumpling starts to leak, it goes right into the soup broth.
This was not a very fair review video. There was no way you would have been able to accurately judge the veggie ones. I don't eat meat and it would have been nice to know if the veggie ones actually have a good burst of soup or not, but you kinda ruined it with the weird cooking method😅
I've never tried soup dumplings because, honestly? I'm terrified of them lol. I've absolutely annihilated my tongue and roof of my mouth on pizza rolls and those little mini, crispy tacos. It will be barely warm on the outside, but some kind of scorching lava on the inside haha. Every time you took a bite Emmy, I had to look away because I was so scared you were going to get hurt. Yeah....I know..but we all have our quirks, right? I think by splitting them to ensure they're cool enough on the inside would ruin the whole point of a soup dumpling? LOVE your channel so much. Glad to see no Emmy's were harmed in the making of this video ahha
I love soup dumplings but on food stamps ya can't get the ones I PREFER and as there's no trader joes here..... I'm stuck ordering the ones from MILa....
I was speechless when I saw the thumbnail and my wife was screaming. I could feel her pain. Soup dumplings do not go in soup. Please no more tick tok hacks. And they are eaten with Shanghainese vinegar and ginger not chili oil.
I love bibigo pork soup dumplings. The chicken dumplings are good but to me, the pork are the best. If I ever have an opportunity to try these from trader joes I absolutely will. Also, I have IBS and they're one of the few foods that do not give me any problems. All American frozen foods do with very few exceptions.
Soup dumplings in soup....you might have to wait until the pressure equalizes to avoid getting the 'Bends" (cf any diving bell movie) hehehehe I love dumplings and we don't have any this far south in mexico....except the ones I make myself of course.... hugs from down here in the dumpling desert Jacques
My first time trying soup dumplings was thanks to a friend, who took me to a place in New York City famous for them. They may have served other things. But everyone in the restaurant seemed to only be having the soup dumplings. We had three types: Pork, crab, and crab and pork. They were all delicious. But pork was my favorite.
Love you Emmy in a slightly parasocial way like we all do here but not tasting the veggie dumplings the right way and assuming they're gonna be trash was a major letdown. The natural ughhhhh that left my body watching this....
SO glad to finally see someone using the S&B Crunchy Garlic! I feel it's so often overlooked for a variety of reasons, but it is ADDICTING even without the spice. Thank you for showing it some love!
I’m visiting my daughter at college tomorrow. Living in a dorm she does have a small freezer and microwave is her only form of heating. I’m already picking her up a TJ boba tea kit and might have to pick up a pack of these as well
Dumplings are so perfection. What's your favorite?🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟
Bibigo is my go to. I like to make a dumpling soup similar to how you do in this video. So yummy!
Fried 🍳
Me and the family are having real issues cooking dumplings and not having the fillings just taste way to hard and not nice, do you have any plans on what not to do and what to do when making your own dumplings
The kids like the pork best. What is the name of the chili crisp please?
I love the pork dumplings the best!
I think one of your chickens laid an egg, I can hear her yelling about it in the background 😂
😂😂👌🏼 I heard that too lol
I thought that was at my house😂
Early in the video, but feeling like I wish you had cooked 2 from each package, each way. This way, the cooking method and flavor would be fair.
Could have taken quite a long time, though.
That would’ve been difficult to do the microwave steam method. You’re meant to only cut off a small corner of the plastic bag which isn’t enough space to take out a dumpling. Otherwise, I agree because I’m curious what the veggie ones would’ve been like not in the soup.

What brand are they? I’ll check them out next I go 😊
😁
Well to be fair you didn’t try the veggie ones the right way so don’t know how they’d be done with either recommended method - the mushiness was not the fault of the dumpling itself
Have you tried Better Than Bouillion as a broth base?
That is my 127,000% favorite
It's mushy because you put them in a soup??? You're supposed to steam them and have a sauce on the side. Poor little dumplings - never had a chance to live up to their full potential :(
A couple of years ago I found those exact same soup dumplings at Costco. Six of those trays in a big box for $11. Yeah, I bought a bunch of 'em.
The way you had to take a good 10 seconds with the chicken ones to take in the heat. 😂 my mouth would have been scorched. Lol
The sacrifices she makes for her viewers!
I don’t think your taste-test was really accurate, until you did the chicken. By adding other items, it changes the flavor, so how can you, 100%, be able to taste the original flavor? I really appreciated you did that at the end.
Soup dumplings in soup... In-soup-tion, if you will.
😂😂
The plastic in the box makes a great form for fancy ice cubes.
Emmy, could you please share the actual name on the packaging for the chili crisp garlic oil & where it can be purchased TIA
S&B umami topping crunchy garlic with chili oil
It's available on Amazon
It could have been a nice experiment to cook two of each flavour with each of the three methods so you can compare them. It's hard to know whether the vegetable ones do a good job of containing soup or have their own flavour when they were cooked in the soup.
Came here to say same. Even if just did 1 in each method would have been a more balanced comparison and review.
They look identical to the pork dumplings I buy in my local shop. I put them in my ramen noodles, with mushrooms, green onions, and a poached egg
I know nothing about dumplings but I feel like adding them to ramen is sinful lol. Like adding croutons to a sandwich
@@skeetsmcgrew3282 I learned it from my Japanese boyfriend who made it for me for 20 years.
@@skeetsmcgrew3282Sinfully delicious!
That chili-crisp pile is one of the best inventions! Just a mild warmth which doesn’t overwhelm the food, and the garlic and sesame oil add so much flavor! One jar only lasts me about 3 bowls of noodles!
Thanks Emmy you made me hungry for won ton soup …♥️♥️ I like those but nothing taste better than original WonTon soup ….
Dang 😮😮 Emmy coming in with the mad knife skillz
Horrible way to review them. Could of split the different flavors with the different cooking methods.
Did you mean “could have”?
@neamhdhlisteanach6720 I see "could of" so often lately and it is so annoying.
Doesn't make my comment false
Soup dumplings cooked in soup is too much, hat on a hat
“The kids liked the pork ones best." :P
I always put my soup dumplings in a soup even before the tiktok craze cause It just add more food into a meal like vegetables, noodles or more meat like chicken.
Will the Emmy Effect mean out Trader Joe’s is going to run out of these now? 😋
I wish you would've tried one or two of the veggie ones as per the instructions. 😔
As a ginger hater I'm glad they have 1 flavour without ginger
Always the best mouth sounds on youtube 😊 Love that you leave them in!
My Japanese girlfriend *LOVES* Trader Joe's dumplings and gyoza.
12,000,004 attempts now, Emmy more prison recipes please
Not would be interesting. Maybe she doesn't understand what kind you mean? 💜
@@FrostybluShe has done them before
@@JackGeezy okay I'll have to look the video(s) up. Thanks 💜
You in jail? Need ideas?
Sentencing coming up?
I love soup dumplings, I've had them at restaurants twice this year, once for my birthday. I usually put it on my spoon, then break it open with my chopsticks to let the soup out.
I cook my frozen dumplings in my electric egg cooker. Just need parchment under them so they don’t stick but it works perfectly.
I never understood why Emmy mutes when she chews or slurps. In a show or podcast or something of the like I get it, but in a cooking/food channel I feel like people are okay or even expect/want the chewing or slurping. I know I do, it's just weird when the audio just dips out and it's just silence.
The kids like the pork ones best. I haven't had soup dumplings yet but, I would love to. My favorite regular dumplings are pork and vegetable.
I hope your mouth recovers quickly from the chicken dumpling burn. I felt the pain with you.
I tried the Pork/Ginger, I personally found that the ginger was overpowering and too much, couldn’t taste anything else 😔
I really like TJs pork and ginger dumplings. I've discovered that the electric lunchbox which emmymade did videos on a while ago does a great job steaming a small number of dumplings with very little mess.
Pork and ginger. Don’t live near a TJ but whenever I’m around one always pick up these.
Sounds delicious!! Am willing to give 'em a go. I live in New Zealand. Which NZ supermarket stocks them please?
those looked just awful. I appreciate yourself method of consuming them whole though!!
I agree with you, I liked the pork ones the best. But overall I was kind of underwhelmed with the flavor and texture maybe if I had put some chili crisp oil on it it would be better. You can also place the dumplings on a plate and cover with a damp towel. (I usually grease the plate a little and cook for 2-3 minutes.)
My husband and I put these in our finished instant ramen after microwaving them. Helps make a lazy dinner more satisfying, plus if the dumpling starts to leak, it goes right into the soup broth.
Have you tried pasta salad with jiao zi/gyoza and cucumber salad?
Can't wait to try the pork ones. I think the chicken ones would be better if they had ginger, and some green onion in the filling.
eww, emmy skip those, buy the 50 pack of soup dumplings at costco for like $13-15
Emmy, just sayin' you're channel was more fun when you cook neat things. I'm all good on watching you prep frozen and boxed foods.
You should make homemade soup dumplings! I would love that!
Nice T-Shirt!
You should of tried one of each all 3 ways so you can see if they taste better or worse for each flavor.
I never had dumplings. They look good! Thank you lovely ❤
The soup leaks out when I use the microwave method
For like 3 bucks they are delicious.

The soup dumpling in soup is criminal 😅
Now I feel I need to try this product🙂
I went through a period where I was obsessed with these
I used to have that shirt!

Also, I've got a pretty significant case of misophonia but Emmy is the only human that I actually think is adorable slurping and chewing stuff haha.
may i recommend not using a plastic cutting board! it is the worst since it is shredded while using a knife
The kids liked the pork ones best.
14:36 I feel like you need a sip of cold water so you don't burn your mouth
i love the idea of using the strainer as a steamer! 🤯
How can not love her

Pork and shrimp 😋

Why no air fry?
I love these ❤
I was speechless when I saw the thumbnail and my wife was screaming. I could feel her pain. Soup dumplings do not go in soup. Please no more tick tok hacks. And they are eaten with Shanghainese vinegar and ginger not chili oil.
I've never had a dumpling in soup that I adored. I always wish it just had noodles. But soup IN a dumpling, idk. Maybe that's the way to go
I like the bibigo chicken and vegetable dumplings. They are delicious and come with a dumpling sauce.

You are supposed to break the dumpling first before eating.. 🤦🏼♂️
These soup dumplings are amazing! My son, who is super picky, will devour them. The flavor of all of them are super flavourful.
What brand name on your chicken broth?
how about steaming over chicken broth? then add the soy, the green onions and the chili to the broth....
I love the chicken soup dumplings from Trader Joe's.
bibigo isn’t goong anywhere if anything expanding dont worry the same company that makes those makes these
Emmy is always gorgeous. I agree
That's is my favorite chili crisp❤
i wish i could love these and get tha hype but i worked at the cj foods that distributes these and it ruined it for me :(
I love the pork & ginger soooooo good yummy 😋😋😋! Steamed
"I don't taste the ginger in this one, but it's not labeled as ginger" lol
