Me and the family are having real issues cooking dumplings and not having the fillings just taste way to hard and not nice, do you have any plans on what not to do and what to do when making your own dumplings
My husband and I put these in our finished instant ramen after microwaving them. Helps make a lazy dinner more satisfying, plus if the dumpling starts to leak, it goes right into the soup broth.
That would’ve been difficult to do the microwave steam method. You’re meant to only cut off a small corner of the plastic bag which isn’t enough space to take out a dumpling. Otherwise, I agree because I’m curious what the veggie ones would’ve been like not in the soup.
Could she have used saran wrap to rewrap the container? Also as I am not familiar with this item. Is the plastic "safe". I keep seeing where plastic heated leeches chemicals out into food.
@@stephanieokke7280 that’s a good question! I don’t know if the plastic tray or the plastic bag leeches harmful chemicals into the food. It’s possible. The only thing I can say is that they don’t degrade in any visible way during the cooking process. And the Saran Wrap is a great idea! Never thought of that.
I find your videos very informative, but mostly comforting and soothing. You have a very calming aura about you and it helps me to watch videos like yours when I'm feeling anxious.
Emmy you have to try the soup dumplings from Costco and steam them. They are SO GOOD!! I’m terrified they’ll stop carrying them so I have several bags in the deep freeze.
The Mila dumplings or the Bibigo? Both of them are great imo, but I've heard nothing but good things about Mila (and I heard they just expanded distribution across the US!)
It could have been a nice experiment to cook two of each flavour with each of the three methods so you can compare them. It's hard to know whether the vegetable ones do a good job of containing soup or have their own flavour when they were cooked in the soup.
That chili-crisp oil is one of the best inventions! Just a mild warmth which doesn’t overwhelm the food, and the garlic and sesame oil add so much flavor! One jar only lasts me about 3 bowls of noodles!
Hehe! I watched you take a bite of the first dumpling and as you tried to pick it up, the skin broke and the soup fell into the bowl. The second time, you said, “let’s try it with he soup this time,” and once again, the soup from the dumpling fell into the bowl before you got it to your mouth. I was sitting here giggling!
I love soup dumplings, I've had them at restaurants twice this year, once for my birthday. I usually put it on my spoon, then break it open with my chopsticks to let the soup out.
SO glad to finally see someone using the S&B Crunchy Garlic! I feel it's so often overlooked for a variety of reasons, but it is ADDICTING even without the spice. Thank you for showing it some love!
Well to be fair you didn’t try the veggie ones the right way so don’t know how they’d be done with either recommended method - the mushiness was not the fault of the dumpling itself
The pork gyoza at Trader Joe's are fantastic, I hope you try it some day. Kind of by accident I ended up crisping them on 2 sides once then just went with it & browned all 3, I hadn't seasoned my cast iron well enough after cleaning it so I was trying to slowly get them unstuck without tearing the skin & by the time I got them all unstuck that slightly brownedk8⁸l⁸⁸😊 had become 2 toasty browned sides on most of them so I just decided to add a pat of butter & a drizzle of sesame oil to the pan & just make crispy pot stickers. Now that's the only way my kiddo & I eat them, it's so easy I don't even bother adding water to the pan just warm a little oil just enough to coat the pan & once all of the gyoza are down the lid goes on for a few min softening the skin just enough to easily brown on the other two sides, once that first side is brown I flip to another side & keep the lid off so they only brown, repeat until all 3 sides are nice & crunchy to your liking. The pork is always firm & just full of flavor.
17:17 Any dumplings of any kind are pure pockets of heaven. Even the Polish and Italian ones. The legend has it, if you eat dumplings, your children will be born with dimples and every time you say the word dumpling, those dimples shall light up 😊 And soup dumplings are just next level, just ask them little dumplings munchkins.
I just bought the pork and chicken flavors for my daughter to try! She has been wanting to try "dumplings" and this seemed like an easy way to do so for us. Thank you for showing all three preparations. Honestly the soup one might be good for someone unsure or new to eating them at first (like my kid). Whatever the case, your videos are always so fun. Saw another content creator do this and tried it myself and it was pretty good. Use the microwave method but also add some cheese on top each dumpling and drizzle some sriracha ❤Makes a nice snack.
I really like TJs pork and ginger dumplings. I've discovered that the electric lunchbox which emmymade did videos on a while ago does a great job steaming a small number of dumplings with very little mess.
Thing is, when I see the word dumplings, I think if the suet kind we would have as either a baked side, or something put on top of a hearty stew to sort of boil, steam and bake all in one go, proper thick stodgy things that are just there for filler to make the belly full... :P
I agree with you, I liked the pork ones the best. But overall I was kind of underwhelmed with the flavor and texture maybe if I had put some chili crisp oil on it it would be better. Also when you microwave those chicken ones I’m surprised that you could not hear me yelling at the screen😂 Trying to warn you that they were going to be as hot as lava
My first time trying soup dumplings was thanks to a friend, who took me to a place in New York City famous for them. They may have served other things. But everyone in the restaurant seemed to only be having the soup dumplings. We had three types: Pork, crab, and crab and pork. They were all delicious. But pork was my favorite.
I purchased 25 boxes last week😂 I do it every time. I have tried sooo many brands. Trader Joe’s and Target have the best. Meats kinda crumbly I. The Target dumplings, but the flavor is there.

I love bibigo pork soup dumplings. The chicken dumplings are good but to me, the pork are the best. If I ever have an opportunity to try these from trader joes I absolutely will. Also, I have IBS and they're one of the few foods that do not give me any problems. All American frozen foods do with very few exceptions.
I love TJ’s soup dumplings. I think I have tried all 3 of the flavors. I picked TJ’s frozen fried rice and served them together with 2 packages for an easy weeknight dinner for two.
I always put my soup dumplings in a soup even before the tiktok craze cause It just add more food into a meal like vegetables, noodles or more meat like chicken.
Personally I find the microwave works best which is weird since normally I don’t like the microwave version. I find the steamer method tends to have them stick at least with my steamer. Maybe a rice cooker would work. I found the chicken were a bit bland but really good if you’re under the weather.

I have been obsessed with Trader Joe’s as of late, they have such good quick meals and they’re tasty they don’t taste prepackaged like most. I even tried the famous chocolate croissants and OMG I thought they were gonna be Uber sweet but no they were beautiful and perfect.
When you microwave them, as you discovered, they are too hot to eat. Kenji suggested biting off some of the top and sucking out the soup. It reduced how much I got burned.
I think the best way to make it mean will taste better will be steaming it in like a pot you put it in a steamer and put some water not too much just like maybe half of the pot no matter how many you making or less and then put the steamer inside and steamer for a couple minutes your taste better Than the microwave but I know that’s a crisis why microwave yes

The plastic in the box makes a great form for fancy ice cubes.
I've used them to make chocolate shells to hold mousse and other stuff. Like the ice idea, too!!!
How resourceful 😌
Early in the video, but feeling like I wish you had cooked 2 from each package, each way. This way, the cooking method and flavor would be fair.
