I'm currently running CoH with my sfw and I find the iri map pretty useful for not wasting my time looking for totems, also preventing 3 gen and giving instructions in case of noed or traps. Quite an underrated item overall
Not really because you can't do the same with game knowledge. Totem spawn are definite so you know where to search, gens are easily trackable etc... basically the map is a tool to compensate bad game knowledge
@@timoobert1881 Totem spawns are tied to rng in most spots. So yh, you can know their spawns. but they change all the time and might cost you valuable time. Remember the boon meta? it was basically free corrupt intervention for the killer
I'd honestly be fine with the devs removing keys and maps altogether. I can't remember the last time someone used one and they take up so much space in bloodwebs with their useless addons.
New items are so necessary, they could maybe make chest useful for once. What if survivors could maybe get a trap similar to Trapper’s. If the killer steps in it it’s a stun. Add ons could again be like Trapper, darker traps, faster setting, etc.
20:13 - This addon can have little affect on gameplay. If you killed in game with this addon, the key will fly to sky with you 😮 and dont drop on ground. So alive teammate can't pick your key.
im a new player, but id like to make an argument for repair instructions. i do think you're correct in that it helps us new players the most. the reason i originally used them was bc i would panic and miss skill checks. specifically, when the killer was in chase near a gen, or on the floor above me for example, terror radius was SPOOKY. they helped give me a bigger margin for error essentially. now that im no longer panic playing and can hit skill checks, ive found they are extremely useful for finishing gens. the last 10% or so, bc you cannot fail. i do think its extremely situational, but being able to hop on a 98% gen mid chase for example, not receive a failed skill check when you hop off cause you spot killer coming towards you, to finish the last bit of a gen that breaks a 3gen, etc, really does add up over the course of a game. instead of using the entire toolbox for one gen, i think about using the toolbox for 3 different gens. having a 100% no fail way to finish a gen if you commit CAN be strong is all im saying. ive seen multiple people, myself included, annoyed at the amount of times we've failed a skillcheck hopping off a gen thats nearly done. this very much solves that issue. i think thats their biggest strength anyways, tho i do understand how they could be viewed as a lesser add on. thank you for this vid and all the others ive watched, its made being a new player much easier, and enjoyable.
Fun fact, Event Items all cost 2000 BPs, so they are mostly cheaper than normal items, event toolboxes = 2000 BPs, comodious = 3250 BPs, yellow flashy = 2500, event flashy = 2000, etc!
otz, i may be retired from dbd at this point but videos like this almost give me the spark to come back and play a little bit again because it reminds me of the old times. remember when they wouldnt even give you percentages on what items did? but thank you
An interesting idea would be to give unique characteristics to the survivors and unique addons for each one / different effects for each one, making each survivor something more than a more or less stealth skin
A very small addendum but the yellow toolbox actually has a slight speed boost for sabotaging (10%) so it's a viable option if you're going for sabo speed but have no Alex's toolboxes. I'd recommend the yellow charge addon and the hacksaw (green sabo speed) to give you 32 charges an a sabo speed of 30%, slightly worse than a commodious with double sabo speed (35%)
maps are comically underrated imo.. rainbow map with the red twine and the green stamp is pretty much a whole build and a half in 1 slot, which is SUPER strong when paired with an aggressive playstyle (like the standard meta + left behind, self open handed, worse deja vu, better small game AND the ability to know instantly if its a trapper/trickster/huntress is just so damn strong for soloq)
send me video of your winstreak with map yea.. its not good. thats cool for noobs but u dont want lose your bnp or green medkit for a gen vision on map
@@rambcio4199 send me your winstreak at all 🤡 imagine thinking winstreaks actually matter in a non competitive game. and its not just gen vision, its EVERY vision with rainbow map, which is a lot more common than green maps for some weird reason
Fun fact about the syringe: it takes ALL perks and add-ons into account. So if you cannot use your For The People + Buckle Up combo because you got hit, pop it on the downed survivor and try to get away. When they get up, you'll both have endurance.
Call it the Skittles Tech, but I call it a Double Bang Save. Flash Bangs and firecrackers take up a different slot so you can take a firecracker into the match and craft a FB to have both at the same time. Use the first one to make the killer look away and they always turn and catch the second one. Works best right in front of a hook, but I land them 99% of the time and only use it for emergencies to prevent a 3rd hook or a pain res that could decide the match.
The no skill checks add-on on toolboxes can be useful to save stake-out tokens especially for Scavenger to replenish it faster but I do agree its a niche add-on.
fun fact, the low Amp filament recently got a buff from 20% efficiency to 24%, this is because there was no situation where bringing that was better than a yellow battery, now it's slightly better than yellow only if it's on a purple flashlight with a green battery or if you have nothing else, I recommend you don't even bother with it tbh
0:41 honestly i also think it would be cool if they implemented unique map features like in identity v where each map has a unique mechanics like a rollercoaster or ridable horses
I mean length doesn't matter to me Otz just sitting and talking about his thoughts on dbd related stuff with his silver tounge is just entertaing in general. Lets get Otz to 1Million subs
What I would like to see is some sort of use for the key like a singular special chest with a wacky item that lets you retaliate against the killer like a tripwire that gives them slowdown or something.
17:15 Vaguely-ish,went off to check the wiki to prove I wasn't insane. The yellow and purple lenses both thin your beam, only the brown lense thickens it. Also the whole flashlight section is a little earlier than on the timestamps.
1:47 I'd say the sabotage advantages are way too situational, though. The main purpose of sabotaging hooks is to help a survivor break free from the killer, that's all our hopes and dreams, but that's what happens the least. You need a full sabotage team or a duo for sabotage to have any impact, other than that, the killer can just turn to another hook that is ALWAYS close by and your sabotage was a waste of time. It happend to me this week btw. I had a random Zarina who sabotaged the hook the killer was going for in TWO different occasions in the match, it did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! The killer just turned to the next one. I must add the killer *did not* have any perks to walk faster while carrying or to reduce the progress of wiggling survivors. So sabotaging a the single hook the killer was going for does NOTHING if the killer has not been carrying for quite some time already. I think sabotage sucks in this game tbh, but there are teams who can pull it off and make everything really annoying, but the killer can always just be smart, drop the survivor when they see these shenanigans happening and slug the hell out of everyone.
I do have a niche fun use for Repair Instructions. I use it if I'm running Scavenger and Stakeout on a Commodious. It's a lot to bring just for gens, but it's pretty funny and fun.
I often combine the extra charge add ons on a commodious toolbox/any medkit with streetwise and built to last, which basically gives me either three gens or numerous heals on me. I know it might be considered bad in a sense but it saves time when you’re solo q-ing.
Admittedly I’m a beginner but removing skill checks with a toolbox has saved me against doctors and fully stacked huntress lullaby’s and whatever that storm perk is that gives a ton of checks in a row at the end.
You are such an amazing person and content creator for the community such a kind and passionate person who is always doing something to help others get into the game and figure it all out. oh and you're pretty funny or whatever
In my year and a half of playing DBD I've only ever seen people use the rainbow map + the addon that let's other survivors see the auras of the marked stuff literally ONE time. I like running it with BTL so we can see everything, everywhere, all at once. Can be a bit annoying for other survivors though, so I generally limit using it to when someone completes a gen (so they can find another one quickly), or when the killer picks up (in case anyone wants to attempt a sabo play), or when I'm looking for hatch.
Green Map comboes with Detective's Hunch perk from Tapp, you forgot to mention that. With that perk it works pretty awesome, otherwise it's a waste of slot
Honestly I’d love to see like some like, motion detector item, something that lets you place it on a vertical surface and if the Killer passes it, it makes a loud noise that you can hear to notify you. But it might be useless against normal killers, but too strong against stealth killers
I really do have a build suggestion that’s highly underrated that I’ve been using, Deja vu, potential energy and buoy to last with a como TBX with wire spool and scrap and the last survivor perk is ur choice, this build allows u to set up for a 15-30 second solo gen in tough spots, I’ve been using it for a very long time, about a year and a half. a casual gen rush it’s, easy to use❤
Been a while since the last items & addons tierlist. Thank you for keeping up the great work Alex, all the friends love you! Btw do you plan to let real Otzdarva out the basement and post something on the "first" channel in foreseeable future?
They could add something like bonesaw, grants speed boosts while dismantling totems. Maybe have ones that are extra good at dismantling hexes or versions that have a lot more charges or add skillchecks to totems, maybe one that allows you to save 8s of progress on a totem.
new item: Speaker, comes in one rarity (super rare) when you throw it down it'll play the sounds of your survivors footsteps for 5 seconds (you lose it on use)
Maybe a rework to maps could increase the uses. Maybe making it so the gens are static always in a certain spot or making it so you can guarantee a certain loop or pallet spawn. Something similar to map offerings.
Oh good u havent played before. Inner healing was broken for a sec and was most op perk. It was probably about the totem part, it was active all the time without even cleansing
@rambcio4199 I've been playing since 2017 lol? The time it was broken was like for a few days and I didn't even play during that timeframe. If I remember it was winter maybe? I remember seeing it on the last day before it was fixed and I had just bought winter ice outfit for Mikaela.
Skeleton Key with Blood Amber and Unique Wedding Ring(if one of you need healing or you run prove thyself/teamwork perks it's great) and the Rainbow Map with Crystal Bead(I'm sorry Trapper) and Retardant Jelly are grossly underrated, especially in SoloQ but are still quite useful in teams (especially the latter for hunting a hex totem that has popped up). Information can save you as much time or more as getting tasks done faster.
Tracker is officialy weakest killer in the game, also otz tierlisted him lowest and they still didnt changed og items which are making game easier against trapper, but not really affecting new killers since 6 years
@@rambcio4199 Yea it's pretty sad, I do really like Trapper, but honestly I'm more sad that the map doesn't do more against killers specifically. Like maybe there should be a moving weakpoint that can slow them down, like an entity well you can plug. It would take a bit to use so you track it each time it pops back up. Of course, killers would need to be stronger when it's unplugged like a +/- 2% haste... but yea, they should put more thought into the state of items.
They should add something like a grapple hook or something so that you can use it *once* to make a quick get away either up to another level or create +distance.

Not really because you can't do the same with game knowledge. Totem spawn are definite so you know where to search, gens are easily trackable etc... basically the map is a tool to compensate bad game knowledge
Not all of us have 5k hours. The map helps find totems for the average player. @@timoobert1881
@@timoobert1881 Totem spawns are tied to rng in most spots. So yh, you can know their spawns. but they change all the time and might cost you valuable time. Remember the boon meta? it was basically free corrupt intervention for the killer
I've needed this video for a long time!! Thank you so much for the awesome content you give us!
your continued work and dedication to the DBD community especially newcomers, thanl you Otz!!!!
I'd honestly be fine with the devs removing keys and maps altogether. I can't remember the last time someone used one and they take up so much space in bloodwebs with their useless addons.
thank you otz for the video. i ended up boiling my pasta without being bored. certified otzdarva classic
New items are so necessary, they could maybe make chest useful for once. What if survivors could maybe get a trap similar to Trapper’s. If the killer steps in it it’s a stun. Add ons could again be like Trapper, darker traps, faster setting, etc.
New items are needed but a trap? Absolutely not, it’s atrocious having trapper already weak to his own
No
20:13 - This addon can have little affect on gameplay. If you killed in game with this addon, the key will fly to sky with you 😮 and dont drop on ground. So alive teammate can't pick your key.
Technically, they added in the Flashbangs with Leon a few years ago.
Yaaaay I’m glad you’re still making these videos! They’re really helpful:) thank you otz
im a new player, but id like to make an argument for repair instructions. i do think you're correct in that it helps us new players the most. the reason i originally used them was bc i would panic and miss skill checks. specifically, when the killer was in chase near a gen, or on the floor above me for example, terror radius was SPOOKY. they helped give me a bigger margin for error essentially. now that im no longer panic playing and can hit skill checks, ive found they are extremely useful for finishing gens. the last 10% or so, bc you cannot fail.
i do think its extremely situational, but being able to hop on a 98% gen mid chase for example, not receive a failed skill check when you hop off cause you spot killer coming towards you, to finish the last bit of a gen that breaks a 3gen, etc, really does add up over the course of a game. instead of using the entire toolbox for one gen, i think about using the toolbox for 3 different gens. having a 100% no fail way to finish a gen if you commit CAN be strong is all im saying.
ive seen multiple people, myself included, annoyed at the amount of times we've failed a skillcheck hopping off a gen thats nearly done. this very much solves that issue. i think thats their biggest strength anyways, tho i do understand how they could be viewed as a lesser add on.
thank you for this vid and all the others ive watched, its made being a new player much easier, and enjoyable.
Firecracker/flashbang is an S tier imo 😈
Fun fact, Event Items all cost 2000 BPs, so they are mostly cheaper than normal items, event toolboxes = 2000 BPs, comodious = 3250 BPs, yellow flashy = 2500, event flashy = 2000, etc!
Didn't know Otz made TH-cam shorts now
otz, i may be retired from dbd at this point but videos like this almost give me the spark to come back and play a little bit again because it reminds me of the old times. remember when they wouldnt even give you percentages on what items did? but thank you
An interesting idea would be to give unique characteristics to the survivors and unique addons for each one / different effects for each one, making each survivor something more than a more or less stealth skin
Otz I hope you know how insane you are and how much we all look forward to all these different lists! It's like a red carpet event
HE DID IT AGAIN, ANOTHER GOATED TIERLIST🙏
Otzdarva thank you for blessing my meals, I do not know where I would be without my food TH-cam.
This can't be right. An otzdarva Tierlist shorter than an hour!? But for real now, good vid Otz, always enjoable to watch
I used to ALWAYS bring a toolbox with me and never touched a medkit. About three weeks ago I started using medkits and I’ll never go back.
Not only does the yellow toolbox not have a penalty for sabos, it actually has a bonus speed to saboing (albeit not as much as the Alex toolbox)
Worn-Out Tools (brown toolbox) also makes good skill check zone smaller, which is a big deal for newbies.

I'd say the sabotage advantages are way too situational, though.
It is nice to see that Otz started using youtube shorts for his tier lists
Finally a video that’s not 4+ hours long
I love the dry bitter sarcasm at the end
It's about time to get new Survivor Items and Add-Ons
You are such an amazing person and content creator for the community such a kind and passionate person who is always doing something to help others get into the game and figure it all out. oh and you're pretty funny or whatever
In my year and a half of playing DBD I've only ever seen people use the rainbow map + the addon that let's other survivors see the auras of the marked stuff literally ONE time. I like running it with BTL so we can see everything, everywhere, all at once. Can be a bit annoying for other survivors though, so I generally limit using it to when someone completes a gen (so they can find another one quickly), or when the killer picks up (in case anyone wants to attempt a sabo play), or when I'm looking for hatch.
saame only once maybe twice, people are not used to this item and they wont get value from it often
EEAAO reference seen
Brown toolbox also makes your skillchecks smaller
24:22 5 months later and every toolbox and a few addons get reworked 😂
Commodius with the double extra charges and Built to Last is a vicious way to rush some Gens
Green Map comboes with Detective's Hunch perk from Tapp, you forgot to mention that. With that perk it works pretty awesome, otherwise it's a waste of slot
I was ready for otz to do the tierlist and after completing it, redoing it after looking at som patch that changed it.
Listening to otz while studying for midterms is top teir
The Devs 3 months from now: I think maps need a nerf.
They could add something like bonesaw, grants speed boosts while dismantling totems. Maybe have ones that are extra good at dismantling hexes or versions that have a lot more charges or add skillchecks to totems, maybe one that allows you to save 8s of progress on a totem.
It’s the only other survivor objective so it seems like an item could be designed for it
new item: Speaker, comes in one rarity (super rare) when you throw it down it'll play the sounds of your survivors footsteps for 5 seconds (you lose it on use)
Finally a Tier List I can watch on my lunch break
Oh wow thank you otz for the 1001 tier list
Maybe a rework to maps could increase the uses. Maybe making it so the gens are static always in a certain spot or making it so you can guarantee a certain loop or pallet spawn. Something similar to map offerings.
I just set a new PB on watching an Otz tier list!
I love using the commodius tool box with the yellow and brown charge addons and build to last and streetwise
I love my maps. I'm a inner healing/boon/overzealous lover. Comes in clutch with noed too.
Firecrackers were added well after the base game released. I didn't realize Otz started playing after they were added. Its weird to think i played this game longer than Otz lol. I still don't know how to use them accurately even after all this time
