Cool. I didn't know about the extensions web site. "Initially bit weirded out by a change, but after I thought about I realized why" kind of describes every Blender update. 🙂 For people who are already good at Blender, you can make and publish to the web site your own extensions and keep them up to date, which is pretty cool if you're an add-on developer.
Add ons are great, and really change the way you can use Blender. I do find that if you try to get too many at once it can be overwhelming to learn them all, so I would suggest spending some time with each one, to learn it, before installing the next.
@@IrocZIV Definetly agree with that. I think that's the same with trying to learn all the tools you can use in Blender full stop. It's why I recommend learning by working on projects to focus a person's processes/learning in that direction
3D Print Toolbox can be useful for checking geo especially before exporting to other packages so even if you're not doing 3D printing you might want to investigate it.
What is the reason that Blender 4.3 removed the uninstall button on the addons page? Now I have to manually uncheck and delete the addon from the Blender addons folder, and then reinstall the update.
@@ArtisansofVaul oh, yeah, you are right, but this button is in tab "Get Extension" and is hidden under "down" button. Much more unobvious than in previous Blender versions. Thanks!
The one thing I noticed on my side is that when I go into Preferences > Add-ons, I have a collapsed section at the top titled "Missing Built-in Add-ons". When I un-collapse this, I have a bunch of add-ons listed like Loop Tools, Bool Tools and the like and they have an Install button next to them. The strange issue is, they are already installed. Not sure why Blender is detecting these as missing. Have you guys run into this? If so, what is the solution? It doesn't impeded me from using these technically already installed add-ons, but it's annoying to see none the less.
So I had that the first time I opened the new version of addons/extensions in 4.2. I think (total guess) it's Blender reorganising where they are kept or linked into Blender.
@@ArtisansofVaul I'm on 4.3.2 (but I think this has been happening since Blender introduced this system). Your response makes me wonder if uninstalling and then adding them back in (via installing them in the Available section of Get Extensions) might solve the issue? I can try later on to see.
How powerful of a PC do I need to use Blender properly? My current one was a pandemic build(2021): Ryzen 5 5600, RTX3060Ti, 16GB of RAM and NVMEs. Blender starts to lags once there are hundreds of thousands of vertices on screen a 50/50 chance of crashing if I add more add ons like the subdivsion modifier or try to remesh. I only use Blender to make models for 3D printing so I usually build simple stuff like a simple house or rocket. When I tried to sculpt things like a boulder for parting gift for my students recently I had to be satisfied with a semi-smooth model with some low-poly edges because Blender would just crash if I add anymore vertices.

@darrennew8211 haha, totally agree on the Blender update front!

@@ComplexTagret Did it? I'm sure I uninstalled something the other day. I thing it's in the addons page when you click the down arrow?

@norm_olsen definetly do this. But install them by dragging the zip folder into Blender as it seems to then mean it worked out the right place for it.
