What I like most about the ds version’s of sky landers was that each game had a different big bad that wasn’t Kaos for the millionth time and that felt like a breath of fresh air
Sweet memories. when I first started with Skylanders, my first was the 3DS Spyro's adventure. at first, I was confused as why it wasn't the same game as I've heard with the consoles. but eventually gotten a console version for the PS3. plus whenever Skylanders gets a released, I aways get both versions. plus since 3DS Skylanders is always different from their console counterparts, I counted 11 adventures altogether.
It's always refreshing to find someone who actually acknowledges the 3DS games. I seen one too many a 'Portal Master' disregard them simply because they weren't on console. 55:19 is that a Miraculous reference?

These games are fully-fledged Skylanders games that go unnoticed simply because they are only on 3DS and they share the same names as the console games. They offer a completely unique experience and make great childhood memories. They definitely need more recognition within the Skylanders community. Except Sup. Racing, that game can go collect dust for all I care.
I personally enjoyed the 3DS Skylander games because of the different stories they had compared to the console versions. They kind of helped prove that Kaos isn't the only threat the Skylanders face on a daily basis, which is an interesting change of pace because most games have the same villain returning every time, like a majority of Mario games have him fight Bowser, and a majority of Sonic games have him fight Eggman. While it's the same for Kaos in the console versions, it's interesting to explore what other villains have planned in the 3DS versions.
I really hope Skylanders Universe gets revived someday. It was a cool experience and I liked the idea of being able to play the console version or whatever and then keep playing Skylanders outside of the game. I feel the same way about the mobile games, it’s a shame they’ve all been delisted or shut down.
I remember playing Swap Force on Nintendo 3ds on my family's easter holidays in Italy back in 2014. It was my favorite game back then and I played it for so many hours when we were in the hotel. I miss those times man.
I grew up playing sky landers on the console but since the eshop has died, I’ve been using my 3ds way more and discovered these versions of the sky landers games. This video was super helpful and I think I’m going to try and find the swap force starter pack (i would love the dark spyro figure but the swap force portal is more useful to me. Plus the Spyros adventure starter pack is Pricey). Its so cool to see the difference between the console vs 3ds versions
Might as well mention this, despite how late it is; you don't NEED to take on Hecktore's Challenge at all, if you don't want to. Just don't complete the elemental area challenge and enjoy the casual experience of going through levels without a time limit. Yeah, it sucks for hardcore completionists, but I am not one, so I just never collected those crystals.

@@Mikeinoid I ended up getting a used copy of Spyro's Adventure to try them out, even without a portal. I think I actually prefer it to any of the console games. Assuming the PAL region portal isn't region locked, I will be able to be able to experience the rest soon, as I ordered in a PAL copy of Superchargers Racing for its Swap Force portal. Lightning Rod was one of the characters on the save file I used that allowed me to beat the game, I HATE him on console, but he ended up being so fun to use here. I'm excited to try out the rest of the roster if a character I despise became really fun.

I have blur memories of the 3ds skylander games I know I hade almost all of them but sold almost all of them away because I just grew so board of those games compare to the console versions where I was actually having some fun I think I mostly got them for the exclusive skylanders back then now all I have is skylander gaints on 3ds which is not so bad but works terribly with my skylander nfc cards.
I also sold the 3DS versions of Giants, Trap Team and Superchargers: Racing because I lost my interest towards them. I still have the 3DS version of Spyro's Adventure and Swap Force.
I wonder, if Activision hadn't pushed the greed to such a level for Trap Team and Imaginators, if Skylanders couldn't have kept going for at least a few more years. If you only needed, like 1-4 new figures to play the games, it wouldn't have poisoned the well so badly.
Its kinda what i loved about skylanders cus unlike dlc in litraly any other game if u buy a character in one game it wont just work in that game but every game that ever comes out after that including the handheld versions. like thats insane that my drill sargent that was the first character i brought after the starter pack can be used in 10+ games.
I had every Skylanders character and game when I was little I had a dream to get enough money for the dark editions then my house burnt down and I lost everything in it but some stuff I had at my aunts and it all burnt still brings a tear to my eye
How I rank the games #6: Imaginators Doesn't exist and it bothers me so much that my 3DS collection is incomplete. #5: Superchargers Racing Nothing against the game. I'm just not really into racing games. #4: Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Fun game, but the Hector's Challenge drags the game down significantly. #3: Skylanders Trap Team Trap Team is my favorite of the console games. The 3DS version was so underwhelming. Abysmal implementation of the trappable villain gimmick, terrible cutscenes and those gyroscope sections were atrocious. The main thing that gives it a slight edge is that I really don't have too many problems with the main gameplay. #2: Skylanders Giants Nothing amazing, but it doesn't do too much wrong. Fun game that I could easily pick up and play any day. #1: Skylanders Swap Force Definitely the best. Loading in as many Skylanders as you want is fantastic.

I replayed the Wii versions of Swap Force and Trap Team. The Wii version of Swap Force crashed before Evil Glumshanks boss fight. What a crime against the honor of Swap Force. My brother's Dark Food Fight got defeated by Chompy Mage. Doomraider boss fights are just ridiculous at Hard and Nightmare difficulties.
I was quite lucky in the UK because I found Dark Spyro in a single pack so he was also released that way as well. I remember seeing him and immediately buying him because I knew how rare this is, I also didn't have a 3ds at the time so I knew I wouldn't be getting the starter pack anytime soon

I recently tried the 3ds trap team game and i think your getting harsh on it, i find switching skylanders easy, i find it cute being able to pet, tickle and interact with the villain, and while the names and the story is mediocre at best, im mainly looking for gameplay not so much story. I want to reach dream sheep because of how cute he is
I'm glad you like the game for its cuteness. I still think gameplay wise its the weakest of them all. I don't expect much of stories from Skylanders games but imo the story was just plain bad.

@@Mikeinoid But it is rare. Similarly get Jet Vac outside of the Giants Starter Pack. If you get an extra Tree Rex and Cynder, you can sell one of them. Plus two rare releases (unknown if in America) is where you can get two triple packs that have Hex, Slam Bam, and Shroom Boom and Hot Dog, Spyro, and Bash. These were very rare due to Hot Dog and Shroom Boom being in Battle Packs. Funny thing, why did Activision even bother releasing Shroom Boom and Hot Dog separate from Battle Packs but not the Series 2 Skylanders purchased in there or just include the new Skylanders the only way obtainable was through the Battle Packs. With the Spyro's Adventure Adventure Packs, they made Slam-Bam, Terrafin, Ghost Roaster, and Sunburn exclusive to them so that it is the only way to get them. There were E3 promotions to get Spyro and Trigger Happy outside of the console Starter Packs but unknown about Gill Grunt. And finding a single packaged S2 Cynder seemed common online. Check ToyWiz.
Question: can you use 3ds skylanders on console or not, cuz I always see skylanders like volcanic eruptor being played on the console version of skylanders
@Mikeinoid The problem wasn't fitting the data into the 3DS. It was all those darn portraits for the buttons. That's why the menu is a little slow. It's loading button images as you scroll. Previous games could load all the buttons at once (causing a loading screen) but the roster kept growing. I had to rework the hats menu in Giants, which gave me a bit of experience. I vaguely remember that all the Skylander data was a tight fit. I don't envy whoever had to expand the roster for Trap Team.

That’s the gameplay capture. It’s not perfect but it’s the only way I’m able to capture gameplay
Funfact: i discovered you can use the portal for 3ds on wii and wii u i tested it myself it works.
I recently tried the 3ds trap team game and i think your getting harsh on it, i find switching skylanders easy, i find it cute being able to pet, tickle and interact with the villain, and while the names and the story is mediocre at best, im mainly looking for gameplay not so much story. I want to reach dream sheep because of how cute he is
I'm glad you like the game for its cuteness. I still think gameplay wise its the weakest of them all. I don't expect much of stories from Skylanders games but imo the story was just plain bad.
@@Mikeinoid I agree with the story, but i think we can both agree that it still looks amazing on the 3ds, the skylanders look nearly identical to if they were on the console, they play amazingly, and the gameplay still manages to be fun, we gotta give them some slack on that part yknow? They did the game amazingly on such a low powered device such as the 3ds, i have been playing on my new 2ds xl so never got the 3d slider sadly
Why couldn't you just sell the Tree Rex and Cynder figure? Also, the only way to get the Color Eruptor was from the Swap Force Starter Pack.

@@Mikeinoid But it is rare. Similarly get Jet Vac outside of the Giants Starter Pack. If you get an extra Tree Rex and Cynder, you can sell one of them. Plus two rare releases (unknown if in America) is where you can get two triple packs that have Hex, Slam Bam, and Shroom Boom and Hot Dog, Spyro, and Bash. These were very rare due to Hot Dog and Shroom Boom being in Battle Packs. Funny thing, why did Activision even bother releasing Shroom Boom and Hot Dog separate from Battle Packs but not the Series 2 Skylanders purchased in there or just include the new Skylanders the only way obtainable was through the Battle Packs. With the Spyro's Adventure Adventure Packs, they made Slam-Bam, Terrafin, Ghost Roaster, and Sunburn exclusive to them so that it is the only way to get them. There were E3 promotions to get Spyro and Trigger Happy outside of the console Starter Packs but unknown about Gill Grunt. And finding a single packaged S2 Cynder seemed common online. Check ToyWiz.

If it works with the 3DS game of the same name as the game in question, it will work on console, and vice versa.

@Mikeinoid The problem wasn't fitting the data into the 3DS. It was all those darn portraits for the buttons. That's why the menu is a little slow. It's loading button images as you scroll. Previous games could load all the buttons at once (causing a loading screen) but the roster kept growing. I had to rework the hats menu in Giants, which gave me a bit of experience. I vaguely remember that all the Skylander data was a tight fit. I don't envy whoever had to expand the roster for Trap Team.
