Oh man, when I was a teenager in the late 90s I used to think this exact guitar was the radest instrument ever after getting really into the Cubanos Postizos album. I tried to create a cheap version of it by buying an Epiphone 335 and fitting black dog ear P-90s to it, before P-90s were cool again haha. Decades later I saw Marc in London tearing it up on the exact same guitar with Spiritual Unity. I finally almost bought an identical ES-125 I stumbled upon in Ishibashi music in Shanghai but because it was from the 60s and originally a cheap instrument the neck was fairly shot. It's wild to sit here now and see an advert on TH-cam for the exact instrument I used to covet as a kid!
Did he say he wouldn’t be parting with it.. but he wants to get a “fantastic SG”? Odd.. they’re such different guitars- maybe he has more great old archtops so, this one is expendable?
He’s used a pretty wide array of guitars; Telecaster, Jaguar, Jazzmaster, Tiesco, Harmony, and (I think ) a Gretsch. I think he just likes whatever sounds good. Also, maybe he’s thinking of an SG Special, because it has P90s like the ES125.
He wasn't using it much lately. Last time I saw the Cubanos Postizos (2011), he was mostly playing his old Jaguar, the ES125 appeared on 2 songs maybe, and lately played almost exclusively the Jag on different projects. I've also seen him play an SG Melody Maker (those blue/green ones) so it is not far fetched.
@@darwinsaye Back in the day he played w a band - The Uptown Horns. They’d play Dan Lynch’s Bar down on 2nd ave. Some of those guys sat in w bands i was playing with.. Bill Dicey and Dr. Boogie. He mightve played a strat back then..
I like that he uses "pawn shop specials" instead of all the usual high priced, mainly vintage suspects..I'm sure he probably has a 53 tele or a 59 les Paul or vintage dangelico in his closet, but his choice of guitars for work/ travel is quite interesting..cheap vintage guitars from Japan, student model Gibsons,a somewhat collectable fender jazzmaster that looked like it was dropped down a flight of stairs a few times and a brand new gretsch chet Atkins type archtop ,all great instruments I'm sure but not too high on a collectors list..I'm guessing he looks at it like,as long as it sounds good and the neck is ok,he'll use it no matter what it is..
Most guys prefer roundwound strings. But there's something about flatwound that I like too. That dark sound with almost no sustain is attractive to me most jazz guys use them.. wes, kenny burrell, pat martino...pat metheny used them for years,Jim hall..they all got a little help with their great sound from their flatwound friends..I saw an interview with julian lage say he used flatwound strings on his telecaster!
Just finished your book. East Coast urban psycho-humorous observations. I was hoping to learn about your influences and favorite players......but you ruined it by bringing up Trump.

I like his sound !
mi héroe de la guitarra 🤩
Grande Marc !!!
Quel que soit le modèle de guitare, il arrive toujours à en tirer la quintessence, quel musicien !
Great!

What price was it listed at? Hope Marc was able to get his coveted SG
What a great sounding amp too. Can anyone tell me what is that?
Looks like a 57 champ
How much did this sell for? Too bad it's already sold, I would have been seriously interested. I met Marc after a concert a couple of weeks ago.
Niiiiiiiiiiice!
Never trite, boring or cliche. First Call session man.
I owned the 1964 version of this model for years
Great-sounding ax, wish I'd kept it
I have a '65 one so suck eggs.........
What will never not be funny to me is that literally all great rock-oriented guitarists kinda sound shit when they're just playing by themselves
Sounds like it needs new strings and slightly more amp volume.
It's strung w/ flatwounds. I have them on my '65 ES-125 TC, same color as this TDC
sounds perfect...just listen to him on any Tom Waits album

still not convinced this guy knows how to play guitar
He is the Mozart of guitar

Awwww, pobrecito.
That’s what my high school Spanish teacher used to say sarcastically when any student got whiny or butthurt.
@@mretrain2338 How do you say "blow me" ? That's what I say when a comment deserves no more attention.
