Yeah. And Sonic can perform the Homing Attack. I don't recall it being explicitly stated, but jumping and pressing the Right trigger (same with how Blaze can hover), he'll perform a Homing Attack on a nearby enemy. If there aren't any, he'll do a quick dash.

Apparently fans have replaced the soundfont for Sonic Chronicles and it actually sounds pretty good. I mean, you can't get worse than the soundfont they chose to put in the game, so it's an automatic improvement.
I honestly like Sonic Chronicles but that's mainly due to me liking a lot of RPGs. The best way I can describe it is that you either love it like me, or you hate it, which it's fine it's not everyone cup of tea. But hey! This is my hot take of the day.

Rush Adventure is my favorite of the Rush trilogy but all 3 kick ass and aren't talked about enough. I beat the classic games for the first time on the Classic Collection when I was 9 so I'll always have a soft spot for it...same with Chronicles.
If that's what you like, more power to you. After all, I enjoy playing as the Werehog as a fan of beat em up games, like Bayonetta and Streets of Rage.

unpopular opinion: i actually like sonic chronicles. it might be nostalgia because this is the first ds game i ever played or the fact that it’s the video game i played with my mom when i was younger but i found that it’s one of the few ds games that i revisit
I'm almost 100% certain the you hated the touchscreen minigames in Rush Adventure because you were emulating the game. The touchscreen minigames aren't that bad, you were just trying to play them with a mouse. I think you should have acknowledged this in the Rush adventure segment in you video.
Yeah, touch controls are so bad when you have to rely on a mouse. I can tell from experience that touch controls (when done well that is) are generally a lot more fun to use if you play on an actual DS.
Pretty sure at least a few people mentioned this, but in the first two Sonic Rush games, you CAN use the Homing Attack with Sonic; but it’s mapped to the R Button and is rather unwieldy to use. It felt like a last-minute inclusion, but it works properly in Sonic Colors DS. Also, while Sonic Classic Collection may not be the end-all-be-all way to play the first few Genesis Sonic games, it was neat for the time and felt like an apology for the embarrassment that was Sonic Genesis on GBA. Though if there’s a Sonic Collection title I will always keep in that special place in my heart, it’s Mega Collection for the GameCube/PS2. The pristine music, the relaxing visuals, the fun extras, it all feels great to me!
The only Sonic game I have ever played is Sonic Rush Adventures. I loved it. At some point you go so fast that obstacles are hardly a problem any more.
I dunno if I was going crazy or something but I popped that Sonic Classics Collection into my 2DS and I could almost swear it ran a hell of a a lot better than it did on the regular DS. Like I even pulled out my old DS to play it and yeah it played just as you described it but then I popped it in my 2DS and yeah I might be going nuts I can't even....

I remember having sonic classic collection and sonic rush back in the day. I poured more hours into the classic collection because I could never get past this one boss in sonic rush.
I actually did not mind the boat segments in Sonic Rush Adventure. I thought they were a nice diversion. Also, I have never played Sonic colors on the DS, but now I want to.
Having beaten the entire game, I can say that the 30 minutes you spent on Sonic Chronicles is probably too much as is. It is a contender for the worst Sonic game of all time, a truly wretched attempt to replicate the Mario & Luigi series success.
I've played through the game twice and got to like some of the last worlds on my third playthrough, I dropped it after the game gave me an insufferable headache.
Blaze was definitely the best addition to those games, and it was kind of a shame she wasn't brought back for the Sonic Colors DS version...even if it does technically make perfect sense.
I wish she could have been some kind of unlockable at least. Something that isn't part of the story, but a fun little extra to reward skilled players or ones going out of their way to complete the game, kinda like what Super Sonic was in the Wii version.
Man rush adventure was my CRAP back in the day and it was probably the first sonic game I played, however I mostly tried to beat the dinosaur boss over and over and rarely did ANYTHING else It really sucks that I lost the cartridge... I probably would try to make progress on the game if I had it now

Ah Classic Collection. DS doing Sonic 1 way better than GBA. It's all good for uniquely having the Sonic 3 only tracks in the S&K "rom" but the latter's track in S3&K. Also has the entire Jam gallery included with the Sonic World music on the menu. Nice.
Also, completely agree that Colours is the strongest entry in the DS library. In fact, like Lost World, I considered ignoring the console version in favour of the handheld version. It's THAT good.
I don't think I ever finished a Sonic game except for maybe Sonic Adventure 2. So I simply wouldn't know if the games are any good... But chronicles does look bad and I'm kinda glad I couldn't see the lower half of the touch screen assets. I don't think I was missing out on anything.

As someone who has played and completed Sonic Chronicles, you aren't missing much. It has some nice lore later on, but the game-play is still a drag, the villains are boring, and the soundtrack sucks. If anyone reading this likes that game, more power to you, but if you haven't played it, you aren't missing much. A darn shame too. I would love a good Sonic RPG. (Especially with the number of characters Sonic has)
For Sonic Classic Collection, you need to play it on an actual system to get the best experience, preferably a DSi or 3DS, due to its DSi Enhanced mode providing more processing power to the game, smoothing out the emulation a bit. Its likely your DS emulator is where most of the input lag is coming from here.
God I remember when asking my grandfather for sonic chronicles for my birthday but he accidentally got me Sonic Rush. Best accident ever tbh.

The combat in Dark Chronicles is so reliant on the POW moves, I can’t imagine playing it without a stylus. Game still sucks though stylus or not.

Always nice to see someone makes a Nintendo DS Video. Its such an underrated System. There are a ton of Games. But nobody talks about them.
The problems you mentioned with the classic collection must have been a US version issue, I never had any of those playing my PAL copy.

I Was Introduced to Sonic The Hedgehog Via The Sonic Advance Trilogy on my GBA SP Then Unfortunately I Missed Out on His Games When I Got my 1st DS,But Hey The Advance Trilogy Rocked,am I Right?Right?
As someone who has played and completed Sonic Chronicles, you aren't missing much. It has some nice lore later on, but the game-play is still a drag, the villains are boring, and the soundtrack sucks. If anyone reading this likes that game, more power to you, but if you haven't played it, you aren't missing much. A darn shame too. I would love a good Sonic RPG. (Especially with the number of characters Sonic has)
Im pretty sure sonic chronicles was my first sonic game, in retrospect I'm grateful 9 year old me didn't get past the first 30 mins either

For Sonic Classic Collection, you need to play it on an actual system to get the best experience, preferably a DSi or 3DS, due to its DSi Enhanced mode providing more processing power to the game, smoothing out the emulation a bit. Its likely your DS emulator is where most of the input lag is coming from here.
Classic Collection was how I first experienced the Genesis games, and the only thing that bothered me about it was the sound.
I actually really like sonic chronicles IMO. Unpopular opinion.
same here! it's not a completely amazing game, but as a kid i loved it and i think it still holds up extremely well!

No. I recently replayed it and enjoyed it for what it was, even if it had plenty of problems.
