    The dichotomy between Sam's Ian interaction and Sam's Harley interaction is so interesting but very clear. Sam only fucked with Ian because he knew Ian was coming over with bad intentions. When Sam saw that Harley approached him with good intentions and didn't want to come in and punk Sam that's when the real Sam came out. If Ian really wanted to see the "real Sam Hyde" this is what he should've done, and both parties would've benefited from it immensely.

    • @humphreybumblecuck5151
      @humphreybumblecuck5151 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ian autisticly couldn't infer Sam's politics and thought that Sam was effectively hiding his views from others, so in his mind he had to grill/interrogate Sam to to get to the truth to satisfy himself and to have some kind of Scooby-doo unmasking moment.
      In reality though Sam doesn't really hide his views at all and quite a large portion of the population in-fact holds much the same views. It's a false controversy in a sense, the only people who are mad are certain types of leftists, and the vast majority already knew or could easily infer those beliefs for themselves. There is a rumor that Sam Hyde is a diehard N**i but that is not true even after a casual glance. Or at-least it should be if you aren't some kind of idiot.

      Idk if Ian wanted to punk him. He seemed to respect Sam and I got the feeling he just wanted to portray him as he displayed himself, but was just disappointed when the way he displayed himself was so guarded. @@actualfirstname1079 I personally think the whole 'meta-irony' thing was pretty telling of what Ian actually thought of Sam. That and the whole copyright strike thing. I didnt really believe that Ian was entirely over that interaction despite what he said. He referred to it as 'burning a bridge' and seemed almost annoyed that Sam didn't remember that it happened.

    Coach was training Harley like a light heavy / cruiserweight, which is still good for drilling basics. Sam's training seemed more appropriate for a guy in Harley's weight class. Speaking from experience, nothing can prepare you for trading blows in the ring with a big dude like trading blows out of the ring with a bigger dude. Arin was doomed the moment Harley decided to set foot in that Rhode Island parking lot.

    • @jayfron6012
      @jayfron6012 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Yeah what Sam did may not have been traditional, but it was very effective for getting Harley read to trade blows with another big guy. There wasn’t enough time to truly get solid technique and implement it in a real fight scenario. Sam got him ready for the chaos of his first fight and to get the W with Harley’s basic strength(his jab)

The politicians do not care what you think, they’ll do what they want to do. At the end of the day there’s only one party, and they placate the ones that get them to where they want to go. Being on a side is so pointless, especially when you call out the other side on their evil while actively ignoring the evil your side does. People are to stupid for their own good, to emotional for their own good, we’re the ones in the same boat, we’re the ones living in these communities together.

    I’ve trained boxing for years and one thing sam taught you was being in a real fight and sparring. Sparring is SUPER important. You can work on footwork and pad work all day but that shit doesn’t translate in a real fight. Sparring does.

    • @ActuallyJozu
      @ActuallyJozu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I agree with your point on the importance of sparring. Footwork and pad work skills definitely can translate to a real fight, but only when combined with sparring and drilling as a part of your training. Pad work will definitely help develop your hand speed, combinations, punching endurance, and reactions, but you need to supplement it with working these things against an opponent. Same with footwork. Sparring too much can also be a bad thing. It's obviously not good for your brain to spar too much, plus you can develop bad habits from just sparring. Drills will help develop good habits and make proper technique become muscle memory, then you apply those skills to sparring and develop your ability to use them against a live opponent. It's kind of a cycle of drilling techniques, applying them in a real scenario, then fixing mistakes and reapplying them to a live scenario. Harley was never going to get fight ready by working with that boxing coach because it didn't seem like he was doing any sparring, mental preparation, or enough strength and conditioning training. Harley learned to throw a good jab with the boxing coach, but learned to apply it to a fight by sparring with Sam and his buddy.

    • @AaronHendu
      @AaronHendu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The most important part for training as a noob is to get punched, especially in the face. If you've never taken real punches before and get into the ring with someone ready to knock your head off, you're going to get your head knocked off. I'd rather fight a guy much bigger than I am that can't take a punch, than someone my size who can. I rarely get beat up because I can take punches and keep going, and I'm not easy to knock out. Mind you, I'm no boxer, but I used to get into a lot of fights...I settled down over the years, but am still not scared to get it if the situation calls for it. I used to want to get into boxing, but surviving always took priority and never had the time to commit. I've always stayed in shape enough to do it though. I'm too old now though, and was run over by a car a couple years back and my balance isn't what it used to be. I do miss sparring though...it's weird punching someone in the face and still being friends after.

      Very big thing is that pro trainers don't spar anymore with hitting in the head and there is obvious reasons for that but it's better Harley get's the experience now before the fight and not in the ring and get confused by it and possibly create a hole in his defense while he is taking in the feeling. Getting hurt cannot take your focus away or you just get more hurt in a fight. Other thing is if you aren't used to it, you might start to backpedal and become unconfident because you are scared to get hit again. It just is in this scenario good experience to backyard spar a bit with a guy his size, like not a total streetfighting but at very least as boxing as it will be in the ring with other creators. In the ring it won't be perfect boxing stances and this and that when it comes down to it with many of their who participated time to learn boxing.

    Jesse is a professional coach that probably has a lot of clients that come to his gym, each in it for different reasons, with different body types, and different personalities. So what Jesse teaches is an all-around style that focuses on fundamentals to give people a taste of boxing. That works well in a gym environment because it means his curriculum doesn't really have to change unless he is putting extra time and resources into a handful of fighters, which I doubt he was doing for Harley. I think what Sam did was help Harley develop a style that fits him as a person so that he can really lean into his strengths and understand his weaknesses as a freight train of a human.

He got scared and was flinching and had shitty fundamentals. But everyone gave him props for fighting someone much bigger than him, including Harley, which takes some guts/stupidity.
      So 1: Stop saying Egoraptor isn't a boxer without atleast mentioning his claims to have be a boxer for years.
      And 2: We should instead all say that he either sucks or is a pussy, just as a dig, and keep in mind the nuances as you troll. And give him props for willingly fighting a giant, or idk just call him stupid. xD remember not to be too much of a dick please.

    I respect Coach Jessy, hes teaching EMT to be a good boxer, Sam was basically giving him a shortcut to advantages that a better opponent wouldnt let you capitalize on, but teaching in a more naturalistic way. But EMT isnt fighting Tyson or Pacquiao, so he gave him quick basics with flaws making him a viable scrapper, not a pro fighter. Loved the journey, amazing work and dedication from everyone!!

    I think the training with Sam was especially helpful in the sense that Harley wasn't about to fight a pro boxer, he was going to be fighting someone inexperienced that wasn't going to use the proper boxing techniques Jessy was teaching. Getting to have chaotic amateur sparring was really beneficial for the situation he was about to be in.

    the thing is, boxing is fighting , and fighting is violent , the trainer is too calm to put Harley into an aggressive and violent state. he wont be a professional boxer but he can most def take on any street fight with confidence now. you can be technical and strategic all you want but in the end he fought another non pro boxer , he just needed to be aggressive and hit his opponent like he did.

    About Jessy review of Sam
    1) Jessy says "right now he's showing how to step on a right hand against a lefty"
    But both Sam and Harley are in orthodox stances 13:17 , this criticism really confuses me, Sam is clearing showing the concept of taking your head offline and going to the body
    2) Jessy "right now he is training him to put his head over his knee"
    Context missing on what Sam was showing, but i bet it was something to do with the clinch, in the clinch head positioning is very important, you want to hide your head from the other guys free hand most boxers do that by digging in their heads on the opponents opposite shoulder/chest, they also lean forward to lay their weight on the opponent. nothing wrong with doing that.
    3) Jessy "now he is teaching him how to catch a by turning into it that's opens up the right hand"
    Again, a little bit of context is missing but parrying/catching a jab like that doesn't open you to a right hand if you pump your jab at the same time you parry it (Tyson Fury does that all the time) or if you keep your guard up when you catch it (old George Foreman)
    *tl;dr : Jessy is a good coach, a bunch of context on the criticism is missing, Jessy did good on sharpening the jab and straight on Harley but you can only learn rough housing in a Rhode island parking lot*

    • @spunkush
      @spunkush 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yah he was sensitive and looked for anything to Criticize. He just assumed the missing context. I get it tho, it's embarrassing to have your fighter leave cuz he doesn't think he can win with you as a coach.

    To take a guy off the street and give him a crash course on fighting using Sam’s method is far more valuable than trying to build a boxer using fundamentals.
