how should i judge which axis to take my second area moment on?
The second moment of area is ALWAYS taken about a horizontal axis passing through the centroid (center of area) of the gate.
How did you get the area? Can you please explain thank you :)
Gate is 2m high. Problem statement says that the gate 3 m (into the page). A=2x3=6m^2. I hope that helps.
