hcg in the y_cp formula (for the location of the center of pressure relative to centroid) IS the vertical depth of the centroid (which is 2.5m). The ycp is the distance parallel to the gate. I suggest looking at the derivation in any fluid mechanics textbook, which will verify these facts. I hope that helps.
