I give credit to Robbie Maddison, but Knievel had to be borderline insane. He'll always be the guy I think of when it comes to these jumps.
Just watched the Robbie vs Eddie video yesterday. Madison knows how to make a bike fly!!! Better yet, he knows how to keep the bike "level" in the air. The fact Knievil and Eddie didn't understand that blows my mind. Take suspension out of this. Back brake = front tire down. "Panic rev" = front tire high. I was a amateur motocross rider. My longest leap was 110 feet. Blows my mind that the old school heroes couldn't get that figured out. Landing back wheel first at even 80 feet is a sure way to get more intimate with your handlebars than wanted let alone everything else it involves. Madison is straight up crazy!!!! He's the best. I think he's pushed it as far as it needs to go.

I could jump like 5 feet on my Huffy Stingray...yes, banana seat, sissy bar, ape hangers, it had it all. I did have to take the color matched streamers off of the ends of the handlebars though, the ape hangers put those at eye level and I just about went blind.

My father was good friends with Robbie knievel. When Robbie Madison started doing these things Robbie Knievel pretty much threw in the towel. He knew he could not compete with these ultra long jumps.
