I sang this song in choir in high school lo, these many years ago. I don't believe I've heard it even once since then -- but listening to these guys just now, I got chills down my spine. What a flawless performance; this is surely exactly the way it is intended to sound. Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for posting this.
You can definitely tell this is Palestrina...he has a very unique style and you men definitely brought that out very well in this performance. Excellent job!
Your group, Farther Along, does the best rendition of this song of all the artists I have ever heard. The song is sung in reverent spirit in addition to excellent vocal quality. job! You are awesome! You are truly inspiring to your audience!
i love this song, we sang it in highschool as the traditional start of our christmas concert, of course it was 2bass' 2tenors 2altos and 2sop's, i always loved singing this you all sing VERY well and i very much enjoy this rendition!!!
GUYSSSS!!! so good.. i sang this song a few weeks ago and i swear i used this song as a model... i loved it and you guys are so good. Now, we're rehersing loch lomond and hope it come up good.... Congrats guys.. you guys are really good...
i listen to this when im in a negative state because your voices are so damn amazing it chills me out. its kind of like drugs just not bad for you. i think you guys are amazing and never want you to stop singing. your harmony is godlike and your voices are even better. im so glad i found you.
This performance is better than many professional recordings. Very, very good. There's a promising outcome here in your work guys. You have to be music students or graduates, correct me if wrong, cause this level of quality is almost impossible for amateurs. But still cannot understand what's with the bare feet, that is not for the sake of comfort but for the sake of rudeness.
So great, I can't even explain. My acapella choir is learning this right now. Its a huge inspiration to hear you guys. Of course it will definitely sound a little different with some soprano sound... Anyway, you guys are very talented.
Adoramus te, Christe, et benedicimus tibi, quia per sanctam crucem tuam redemisti mundum. Qui passus es pro nobis, Domine, Domine, miserere nobis. We adore Thee, O Christ, and we bless Thee, who by Thy Holy Cross hast redeemed the world. He who suffered death for us, O Lord, O Lord, have mercy on us.
that's a good thing by the way. I sing with an a cappella group as well, and I've done this song in chorus...but the harmony here...my word. great job guys.
our choir just sang this as the ingtroit for Maundy Thursday service and I'm glad I didn't hear this before we did or I'd have been so intimidated (it did come off just fine)
@craigwiggins1: I believe this video was done in '06, when they were at Goshen College, a Mennonite school. Pretty sure all have graduated by now, but Brooks Gingrich (kid in the red t-shirt) has gone on to other musical endeavors (singing and teaching)
Nobuddy's ever really an unbeliever. they just haven't decided what to invest in permanently yet. having a sense of beauty & poetry is always a good sign for each of us, so you seem like my friend! (:D have a Good Day!
We adore thee O saviour, And we do bless thy name Jesus who by thy holy crucifixion hast redeemed thy people who for our sins hast suffered ; lord our god ,lord our god hearken to they people.
Hey, I am trying to find some more info about you guys. I am teaching piano literature at a high school and we are doing Renaissance right now. It is very exciting to find your group. I am going to show my students your performances but I was trying to find some more info on you and could not. Do you have a website? Nice work!
Adoramus Te, Christe, et benedicimus Tibi, Quia per sanctam crucem Tuam redemisti mundum, Domine, miserere nobis! We adore Thee, O Christ, And we bless Thee, Who by the holy cross have redeemed the world, Who have suffered for us! Lord, have mercy upon us!
Adoramus te, Christe, et benedicimus tibi, quia per sanctam crucem tuam redemisti mundum. Qui passus es pro nobis, Domine, miserere nobis. We adore thee, O Christ, and we bless thee, because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world. O Lord, who suffered for us, have mercy on us.
@iahawk4eva Well Latin is the official language of the catholic church, the time period the song was written in is was the time of the height of the roman catholic church
Bravo! Excellent!. Can you send me the Score of this version. I have another version and i want to see the differences between the voices. If you want, I can send you my version in PDF file.
Where can I find the sheet music for this? I'm wanting to do this piece as part of a men's ensemble. I have found some TTBB arrangements on CPDL, but they all lack the "qui passus es..." part at the end.
This is an adaptation for three part choir by composer Frederick Jay Swift from an original Palestrina piece. This adaptation was composed in the 1970´s, if I´m not mistaking.
Adoramus te, Christe, et benedicimus tibi. Quia per sanctam crucem tuam redemisti mundum. Qui passus es pro nobis, Domine, miserere nobis. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. For by your holy Cross thou hast redeemed the world. O Lord, have mercy on us.
i dont follow a religion and am atheist and still this music touches me and makes me close my eyes and float away. it has such passion and emotion

God is inteligent energy impregnating every atom of space. This harmony reminds us through feeling that He exists is in each of us.

This fulfills part of my monk obsession. Thanks Brooks. :)

OMG THIS IS WONDERFUL! I wish my choir could sound like this.
Amazing !! Beautifully done :)

redemisti mundum.
Qui passus es pro nobis,
Domine, miserere nobis.
We adore thee, O Christ,
and we bless thee,
because by thy holy cross
thou hast redeemed the world.
O Lord, who suffered for us,
have mercy on us.
first time hearing the motet sung by a male chorus. Very sonorous! :)
Beautiful. Doing this for SATB right now, but I love this all-male version.
EXCELLENT job, guys!
@iahawk4eva Well Latin is the official language of the catholic church, the time period the song was written in is was the time of the height of the roman catholic church
You guys have such perfect balance!
really good one! congratulations!!!
Excellent!! Very nice, makes you proud to be catholic
Bravo! Excellent!. Can you send me the Score of this version. I have another version and i want to see the differences between the voices. If you want, I can send you my version in PDF file.

Where can I find the sheet music for this? I'm wanting to do this piece as part of a men's ensemble. I have found some TTBB arrangements on CPDL, but they all lack the "qui passus es..." part at the end.
gents - superb !
PERFETTO||||| Bravissimi, e perfetta pronuncia del latino
God in heaven, this is perfect!
who can tell me more about this group? are they still active? where are they located? thanks!
This is an adaptation for three part choir by composer Frederick Jay Swift from an original Palestrina piece. This adaptation was composed in the 1970´s, if I´m not mistaking.
the best version ever
-- beautiful! I sang this in choir in a girls ensemble!
The only complaint I have is that the music is not long enough. 1 minute and 50 seconds isn't long enough to listen to such good music.
Wow. Fantastic.
Speechless
fantastic job!
Awesome
That was fantastic
AWESOME!!!!!!!
Wow...Ive heard professional groups sing this and I have to say, I believe this is better. Good work!
siete bravissimi! ^^
beautiful!!
I would guess that it is 'because' of the fact that you like it. As Augustine said, our hearts are restless until they rest in God.
Adoramus te, Christe,
et benedicimus tibi.
Quia per sanctam crucem tuam
redemisti mundum.
Qui passus es pro nobis,
Domine, miserere nobis.
We adore you, O Christ,
and we bless you.
For by your holy Cross
thou hast redeemed the world.
O Lord, have mercy on us.
Does anyone have the sheet music for this?
So good...
dear God, my soul is crushed
yikes it gives me shivers..
Felt really high.
