IMO it’s actually very tricky to get right tho. It’s basically a KV2 with a second shot ready. Unfortunately that means that it’s kinda underwhelming and very unreliable most of the time due to the HE nerf and the lack of favorable RNG (the gun handling says you’re either a TD or a shotgun heavy)

Agree, it was almost frustrating watching Skill4ltu's having made his mind up on the tank before playing it playing it like a donkey with pure HE from 450+ meters just to enforice his initial views on it.

I think they should make the intuition perk work properly into his tank. Like if you have 2 shells loaded, you have a quicker reload for both shells. With it's terrible reload, it would make the tank able to respond so much better to various situations
For me it is great machine. I prefer HE as it is much better for my targets which are, believe it or not, flanked tanks or medium tanks against which 180mm pen is usually enough to make swiss cheese out of. For the idea of KV-2 with 2 round auto-reee-loader 10/10

The thing with this tank if you are playing alone you want to be sneaky. I play with HE as main ammo. And it does work you just have to know where enemy will push. Had several 5k damage games against tier 10. And there is nothing more satisfying as doing 1.7k in to an ass of a tank.
Just from encountering a Caliban with my King Tiger(C), had equipped improved hardening, spall liner, and gun rammer, the guy did 60 damage per shot on me, switched to AP and he bounced, and I proceeded to wreck him when I face hugged his tank, laughed so hard since I'm playing on a free to play account and can't even afford to buy premium tanks or the loot boxes at the moment. Now I can imagine him facing tier 9s and 10s lol.
I mean, most people that have it know it's not a good tank, they are just in for the memes of it.
Also surprising you bounced 300 pen AP, that was lucky.
@@alanwatts8239 Totally agree I was lucky, I actually froze when we bumped into each other, with the alpha damage on that thing, I knew I stood no chance, but when he bounced his AP shot plus the mediocre HE damage he dealt, I knew it was game over for him. Wouldn't want to face two of them though.

I once bounced a jagdpanzer on the UDES 03.
I first played it seriously and it didn't go well... then I accepted that this tank is just a meme, and started right-clicking at long ranges and not taking anything seriously and this is when I started to get some results out of it....
Its the same for me since the Tier 8 I mainly play is the type 59 and the borat I got super frustrated playing it until I accepted it as a meme tank. Then I got into a tier 6 game and proceeded to one shot 4 tanks consecutively without missing then the following game was a tier X game and bombed an AMX with a 1k HE shell from 400m💀💀💀
I find it pretty cool that this tank and the GSOR look similar
It's pretty much the same tank, but one has a nice 105mm gun or so while this tank has the Conway big boom gun.

Yeah, i bought 75 boxes and got Yoh tank and Caliban. Yoh tank is just a tank, situations when you can use double track mechanics are rare, but Caliban is a real gem, it's not a good tank, but funny as hell!
Yes Edvin when ppl see this tank they are terrified af. One of my first battles was on ensk, when i've met two leopards pta. One of them was heh friendly to me, cuz he saw me, drove close to me and just stared at me, theremore I'm fairplayer so I was looking at him as well and not shooting him. When he was moving backwards I've made a salute shot next to him, and he was like " WTF !" he stared at me, standing in shock and i was like, well let's show him the power of this tank, so i aimed at his side and holy jesus juicy 900 dmg. he was truly friendly cuz he haven't shot me at all, just looking at me.
* The fact: If someone is not shooting me I won't shoot him, i raise my gun and dance in front of him. Sometimes they hit me sometimes we dance and they die from my allies. That moments are beautiful, when you can make friends with an enemy. Sometimes i even protect my friendly enemies from my team, bcuz I'm honorable

Caliban looks like a decent enough and surprisingly (no, really) well balanced tank. Two of them coordinating against you in a platoon throws that out of the window completely however and I can see this becoming a very popular tank for 'many memes' as a result.
It is not balanced. It's the worst tier 8 tank hands down. Even a unicum can barely make this work, I can't imagine what kind of experience the average player is going to have. It's got his moments, it can be fun, sure, but it's mostly frustration and I can see this getting one of the lowest average dpg out of all tier 8 tanks.

It offers an interesting and different experience to most tech tree vehicles, which is a bonus and what, in a perfect world, beyond just being credit grinding machines, the premium tank experience should offer. It's not an overtuned Italian, French or Soviet medium and heavy either, thank goodness. Given that the vehicle trades a lot of capability for it's two tap potential It's fine. It cannot carry a game like a Progetto or Defender or whatever but then neither can a FV4005 a vehicle which trades all of it's armour, speed and gun handling for high alpha output. The Caliban has decent mobility, can take a hit and dish out meme worthy damage at the cost of being very vulnerable for an extended period of time. I see it being a popular platoon vehicle for those that want KV2 like gameplay at tier 8. For what it offers, it's pretty balanced all in all. (It would be a lot more dangerous and more fun to play had the HE changes not come into effect imo)

No its most definetly not balanced. This tank is either stupidly overpowered, when you get the back of an enemy or a softly armored target and you manage to kill the entirety of even some tier 9 tanks in 3 seconds or frustratingly weak when all those things don't work out. This tank is a dice roll, but when the odds are in your favour, damn is it fun to meme around with

This thing is both really fun and really frustrating, I got it in the lootboxes and so far I'm happy with it, not overpowered but mighty satisfying
I met one. Unloaded two AP rounds to the side of my T32 but I was left with 32 HP
Needless to say, the Skoda T56 who was with me and I had fat grins on our faces

I got the calibe in my first (and only right now) 25 boxes and I'm having a blast with it. In a platoon of 2-3, you can reap tanks every 23 seconds and punish the frontlines hard, in solo, you just smack one person at a time with your second shell and keep them at bay with your other shell. If they push you, they'll be bound to get punished hard or outright killed. When reloading, I suggest you raise your gun since the oscillating turret hides the cupola weakspot quite well when raised. Also when firing HE, aim for the roofs of the heavy tanks, they punch right through easily if you hit. Also be careful of artys, one build that I have is dropping the aiming and mount a spall liner due to the tank having 35mm of armor in the roof, sides and rear, easily penetratable by t7 artys.

I played the Caliban in Front Line last week and the HE never failed to deliver when it connected. It was hilariously fun to drep people for 800 HP.
I got this tank last night and I really enjoy it! So much fun!

Most fun tank at tier 8 for me! It's even my most played tank and it doesn't really care in what tier it plays in.
2 shot for 600 damage each with 292 pen in tier 10 hurts!
Tip. Only shoot the 2nd shell.. so you can do a lot more potential dpm

When i got Skoda i was very happy...then i tried to play with it. Somehow it feels like tank that needs to spam gold and consumables to do anything (and then you get tier 10 game and do shit anyway). Also this tank, its pure RNG, i dont see anything good in it. When i use HE i do shit dmg, when i use AP i bounce side of tanks. So again another hard pass. Atleast the 4Y and 122 are decent. The swedish Ikea box is something different tho, if you get into good hulldown position and have support of your team, nothing can touch you.
Today was actually unplayable, lost 25 games in a row and after that I decided to drive my tank in GTA V instead...

I'm only using HE ammo and I can easly pen even upper most armored Ferdinand's plate with them, i can pen even tier X armored HTs with no problem. Yeah heh
Most of the times when an enemy sees my tank they are like " fuck ... I'm out of here bye ! ", they just running away from me. it's funny. Especially when there are like 4 guys peeking from the corner on me but when i shoot one of them for 900 dmg all of then is like " nope ! Fuck this shit I'm out " haha literally like that.

You have the armor to brawl, I use the HE and get in close, 180 pen is A LOT for HE, many teir 8 premiums have around 180 on their standard.
I think its balanced, today I bought 11 boxes and get nothing then I bought next 11 and I got 2 premium tanks And 2 camos

When I first saw saw the initial supertest parameters of this tank many months ago, the very first thing I thought was "I can't wait for epic platoons of justice in this tank!" Honestly, you two should make multiple platoons of justice in this tank alone. It is such a meme.
We will probably play it more on stream :) and such highlights will probably also end up on TH-cam too at some point :)

So far I think the Caliban looks like a fun tank to fool around with. Much like with a KV-2. I personally won't to get the tank, whether it be from the loot boxes or in the shop later on, because I enjoy playing the KV-2 as well. So I think I might enjoy this one as well. As for what I think about it, I don't think the tank is overpowered or anything like that. RNG will always screw it around, just like with the KV-2 or even the Death Stars. So for me I don't have an issue with it being in the game.

I made 935 damage on a renegade by pening is upper plate with HE with the caliban, HE is not reworked XD
I personally like to spam HE in this tank. And for some reason it works and oh boy is it satisfying when you hit something. Really fun tank to play.

Its a good tank if you are patient and lucky. Exp and credit are calculated by the damage you deal, so you land a few shoot and you're good to go.

This video makes me want to buy boxes to get this trollolol derp tank. But with my luck, I would end up spending like $150 bucks on boxes and I would get two tornvagn's and one of each of the other tier 8 premiums, but probably wouldn't even get this thing...I refuse.

Honestly they could have shaved 15 seconds off the reload and it still would have been balanced. Maybe drop the HE rounds for normal AP rounds instead and up the pen to 200 because as is right now it's basically a gold spammer and it's not worth taking more then 5-6 HE rounds with how the HE mechanics work now.
