Prisoner of Azkaban is the movie that stands out the most from all HP movies. This is an artistic and cinematic masterpiece by Alfonso Cuaron. The atmosphere and tone of this movie is so unique. There's always that feeling of nostalgia which is further amplified by the colour grading. In terms of pure film making this is probably the best HP movie.

The map was made by Harry's dad, serious black and professor lupin, when they were kids. The tree was also placed in hogwarts to keep lupin's id secret. Lupin used to hide under the tree when he lost control and tree used to attack humans not animals. Plus when Harry's father and serious black knew about his misery, they befriended him and learned animage skills to turn into animals so to keep him company during his bad times. And it was Harmonie's cat who informed and planned with serious black to get that rat. The cat was always suspicious of that rat that is why she was always after it.
One more thing left out in the movie is, Sirius is the first to escape azkaban because he escapes as a grim and dementors can’t chase animals they only follow human emotions.. he doesn’t escape until now because he sees the newspaper article and spots peter petigrew and escapes azkaban to kill him
In the book they say when Snape found out Neville imagined him in his grandmother's clothes in class, his bullying nevillie in the potions class became worse, lol. Also, Divination Professor Trelawney may seen quirky, but every single prediction she made came true. Eg. In class, it was predicted that Harry will suffer but would be happy about it. Came true when he m3t Sirius, he did become happy eventually even though he suffered about the whole betrayal and parting thing.
There's also other predictions by her in the book and not in movies. All of them were trifle and felt like a joke, but each one came true till we reached book 7.

Seeing that Harry hates Snape, I'm not surprised that Harry channelled all of his energy into the spell to shove him back into the bed. Also, as per the book, apparently that spell on snape was a triple spell, with Hermione and Ron also spontaneously using the spell on Snape to disarm him.
Important stuffs in book those made it the best are: The womping willow was planted so Lupin as werewolf could go to shrieking shack from the path below willow and his friends as animagus form would play with him there as it could keep others safe as well and that's why it is called haunted. Professor Trelawney was the one who predicted the death of voldemort to dumbledore, which was revealed to voldemort by someone important (no spoilers), it said something like someone born at last of July would kill the dark lord and he'll mark the person as his equal, that's why Neville's and Harry's family were targeted while they were young as they two were the ones born at end of July.(Side-Plot of harry Potter and order of azkaban). Usually all of her weird predictions are correct. And she's the one due to which Harry Potter's story started (by Targeting Harry's parents). Hermione's cat also had some plot, which told us that she was previously owned by some wizarding family. She communicated with serius in the dog form in some way and was aware about pettegrew being Ron's rat. That's why she always tried to catch it. A theory is that she's the pet of Potter's family. The theory came up because of a letter by Harry's mom/dad(not remembering exactly) talking about the cat as well in the books.

Well, I have watched this many times, but today I realised when Lupin comes in front of Harry during the Boggart class, it turns into the moon. And now I know why.. Lupin being a Werewolf feared the moon 'cause it turned him into a beast.
Well in the second movie Ron And Harry took all the shine away from Hermione. She wasn’t even present for half the movie. So it was a wise move by the makers and I loved this movie for it.

I feel like the guy on the right who's read the books and knows the story needs to let the girl experience the movie blind rather than giving her hints to understand what's happening. Like he's not outright giving major spoilers but he's from time to time kind of guiding her on things she doesn't know, also confirming her predictions if they are correct. Let the girl think on her own. Like for e.g. when the Patronus spell at the lake happens for the 1st time he declares "That's a Patronus Charm", let the girl think for herself, you know ?
It always pisses me off how they gave all of the lines and things Ron and Harry did to Hermione. Hell, she even got dumbledore's lines. Ron was the one who explained what mudblood meant in the second book, he was the one who reminded her to use her wand in the first, he was the one who stood up for her when snape mocked her and he was the one who stood up on a broken leg to protect harry from sirius. I love the movies but the character assassination is real. They also gave a lot of harry's good moments to her. But they did do Harry's sass justice in this movie. He was so sassy in the books.

you got that right about Hermione. its about opening a mind but Hermione is a bookworm. She's very logical and believes everything written in a book. But Divination is not logic, due to which she is unable to grasp this subject.
Michael talking about the map and everyone's character arc including Draco is so amazing even with all the spoiler moments he handled it so nicely but didn't expect that he, being a books fan, wouldn't identify the change in Ron's character. He was the cool street smart sarcastic guy but the movies did him so dirty. When Hermione stands in the way Michael said she is so brave..it was Ron who did and said that, and this is sad because going forward with the series its going to be worse for Ron's character.

This is where I started hating the movies. They omitted so much of the story, brushed over so many important plot points. Gave best of Ron's lines, and some of Harry to Hermione to make her seem cooler. They dont even reveal that Lupin is Moony. And they completely gave up wizarding robes

Michael just keeps giving everything away right before it happens. Just let her figure it out on her own, explain after things have happened in the movie. We like to see the expressions as it is happening, dont spoil it.

This movie is the only one in the whole franchise directed by multiple Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón and you can definitely tell! Amazing to see how he was able to bring in his artistic touch and filmmaking expertise to a mainstream blockbuster children’s fantasy series. Fav of them all 💙
I know it's not easy to not say anything when you know the whole plot, but it would be better if Michael waits to let Kristen figure stuff out on her own, especially because the movies often explain a lot of things just as they happen. For example, the dementors enter the train, and michael says "here comes the askaban prison guards". This will be very shortly explained by Lupin in the next shot. And more about the dementors is explained in hogwarts when dumbledore warns everyone about them. Just a suggestion
Kristen you have no idea what you have missed by not watching these movies while growing up.. I have had multiple Harry Potter movie marathons and still watch whenever i get time.
Love the breakdown you guys give at the end. One thing: it's not just Divination that Hermione has a challenge with; she also struggles with flying. Recall that she had trouble commanding her broom to rise to her hand on the first day of flying lessons (1st film). And immediately after Harry tries to explain why he could do a full Patronus charm (while they're flying to Sirius on Buckbeak's back), Hermione can't get out her sentence saying she hates flying because she breaks into a scream. I would expect a muggleborn to be uncomfortable flying. But Hermione is too logical, too much in her head to have ESP. And I don't think Trelawney was 'ripping into Hermione' with any intention or even awareness. Trelawney is so established in the psychic ream that she has no filter or social skills. Hermione may be blind to psychic stuff, but Trelawney is equally blind to social skills. Note: the 'Grimm' showing up in the clouds during the rainy Quidditch match is interesting. Divination by reading cloud forms is called aeromancy. It's a practice where people interpret the shapes and patterns of clouds in the sky to gain insights into the past, present, or future, essentially using atmospheric conditions as a form of divination. Great insight into Draco, that he's losing his 'Ace card' of threatening to tell his dad. Now throw this in: Lucius Malfoy is a cold distant father. Draco is slavishly trying to earn his father's love but never seems to satisfy Lucius. Draco models himself after his father, strives to be his 'mini-me', but never succeeds. Draco repeats the vile things his father says and absorbs his father's elitist attitude towards others. And that makes Draco self-hating. I keep thinking about Draco the first day of school, hoping to achieve a real coup he could brag to his father about by becoming friends with the famous Harry Potter, only to be rejected by Harry in front of the entire First Year class.

The Knight Bus is at Universal Studios. A lot of people don't recognize it for what it is because its outside of Diagon Alley and kind of separated from the rest of the things, but it is there.
One of my favorite scenes in the book that didn't make it to the movie was when Ron stood on his broken leg between Sirius and Harry, saying that he'd have to go through him to kill Harry
One of the things i do during reactions is even when im watching the reaction i go through the comments. The cinedesi comment section is a dumpster fire tbh. People hating on micheal? Why though? The movies cut out a lot of the important stuff. U dont even know who made the map in the movies. I appreciate Micheal going thru the important stuff at the end. And i loooove his enthusiasm. Him paired up with anyone is a great reaction. After Achara and Jaby i would prefer Michael in every single reaction.

the animals that they chose were also for a purpose. pettigrew turned into a rat to keep watch outside the whomping willow without being seen, sirius turned into a dog so that he could actually communicate and soothe lupin, and james turned into a stag so that they had a bigger, stronger animal there to control and intimidate lupin if he got too out of control

you got that right about Hermione. its about opening a mind but Hermione is a bookworm. She's very logical and believes everything written in a book. But Divination is not logic, due to which she is unable to grasp this subject.
Michael talking about the map and everyone's character arc including Draco is so amazing even with all the spoiler moments he handled it so nicely but didn't expect that he, being a books fan, wouldn't identify the change in Ron's character. He was the cool street smart sarcastic guy but the movies did him so dirty. When Hermione stands in the way Michael said she is so brave..it was Ron who did and said that, and this is sad because going forward with the series its going to be worse for Ron's character.
As in the book, the map was made by four friends moony- lupin, padfoot- black, wormtail- pettigrew and prongs- dad potter, based on the deer shape of his petronas charm
This is the beginning of "Ron is nothing but a dumb idiot where as Hermione is a know-it-all badass witch ninja fairy assassin fairy god mother".
yep, I was mad when they gave his line "If you want to kill him, you have to get past me" line to Hermione, Ron does that with a "broken leg"
This is where I started hating the movies. They omitted so much of the story, brushed over so many important plot points. Gave best of Ron's lines, and some of Harry to Hermione to make her seem cooler. They dont even reveal that Lupin is Moony. And they completely gave up wizarding robes
Snape showed up because he makes potion which makes lupin into calmer werewolf ,which he went to deliver to lupin thats when he saw the map and saw that sirius harry and all where together
Michael just keeps giving everything away right before it happens. Just let her figure it out on her own, explain after things have happened in the movie. We like to see the expressions as it is happening, dont spoil it.

I know it's not easy to not say anything when you know the whole plot, but it would be better if Michael waits to let Kristen figure stuff out on her own, especially because the movies often explain a lot of things just as they happen. For example, the dementors enter the train, and michael says "here comes the askaban prison guards". This will be very shortly explained by Lupin in the next shot. And more about the dementors is explained in hogwarts when dumbledore warns everyone about them. Just a suggestion

One thing: it's not just Divination that Hermione has a challenge with; she also struggles with flying.
Recall that she had trouble commanding her broom to rise to her hand on the first day of flying lessons (1st film). And immediately after Harry tries to explain why he could do a full Patronus charm (while they're flying to Sirius on Buckbeak's back), Hermione can't get out her sentence saying she hates flying because she breaks into a scream.
I would expect a muggleborn to be uncomfortable flying.
But Hermione is too logical, too much in her head to have ESP.
And I don't think Trelawney was 'ripping into Hermione' with any intention or even awareness. Trelawney is so established in the psychic ream that she has no filter or social skills. Hermione may be blind to psychic stuff, but Trelawney is equally blind to social skills.

One of my favorite scenes in the book that didn't make it to the movie was when Ron stood on his broken leg between Sirius and Harry, saying that he'd have to go through him to kill Harry
One of the things i do during reactions is even when im watching the reaction i go through the comments. The cinedesi comment section is a dumpster fire tbh. People hating on micheal? Why though? The movies cut out a lot of the important stuff. U dont even know who made the map in the movies. I appreciate Micheal going thru the important stuff at the end. And i loooove his enthusiasm. I was just watching prisoners of azkaban on my phone, what a co incidence, I'll watch the series again before you release next movie
the animals that they chose were also for a purpose. pettigrew turned into a rat to keep watch outside the whomping willow without being seen, sirius turned into a dog so that he could actually communicate and soothe lupin, and james turned into a stag so that they had a bigger, stronger animal there to control and intimidate lupin if he got too out of control
