I too am an Argentine small arms aficionado... Have two Sistema Navy 1927's in very good orig condition (one blued the other Parkerized), and had an FN-49 Navy rifle converted by the Argentine Govt arsenal from 7.65x53 to 7.62x51. This is the only FN-49 variant that had detachable magazines. Argentina always took pride in the best... Just look at how nice Argentine Mausers were, and as with all that I own, love the beautiful nations crest stamped on the weapon.
Try to get and collect the line of Weyersberg & Kirschbaum sabers, bayonets and artillery machetes adopted by Argentina starting with the 1891 Mauser bayonet. If found in like new condition it's unbelievable the quality of workmanship displayed on these weapons, and again, the beautiful crest is present on all of them.
FAP is "Fusil Automático Pesado" it´s the HALO FAL... The DGFM produce the FM Hi Power under license between 1969 and 1989. Then produced the FM HP M90 and M95 without license. Because of that the M90 and M95 have little diferences with de FN Herstal Brownings...

Never heard anyone innargentina referring to the FM HP as an AP. I guess they translated High Power to spanish hence Alto Poder.
The problem is that FM FAP (Fusil Automatico Pesado) is a different weapon, its the heavy version of the FM FAL (licensed FN FAL).

It's an acronym, F.A.P=Fabrica de Armas Portátiles (Portable Weapons Factory). There was even a variant of the Argentine FAL with that acronym name, the "FAP"=Fusil Automático Pesado (Heavy Automatic Rifle).
In English it's fun but in Spanish it doesn't make double sense, kid.
