    I have several Carcano, and like them for the history. Included in my collection is a 7.35 Cal. Sold to and issued by the Finnish Army [SA]

    I love hearing about people complaining how weak or underpowered the 6.5 x 52 Carcano is, then gush all over the 6.5 x 55 Swede. A 140 grain .264 bullet from the 6.5 Swede moving at 2,600 fps or a .266 160 grain bullet from the Carcano at 2,300 fps. I doubt the human body would know the difference when it comes to being shot.

    • @jamessnowden5323
      @jamessnowden5323 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Part of the reason for this is the much superior quality of workmanship of the Swede. They are considered by many to be the highest quality military bolt ever produced.

      The 6.5x55 is about the same power as the 7.62x39. How many years has the AK performed with the same power, did it not find a good place in history? troops could carry more rounds, and work the trenches better than the longer rifles. I wasn't sure until i shot the carbine, it was a great day, i have to love it. I think Ill get the TS as well.

    • @danschneider7590
      @danschneider7590 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. People love the Swede, as in all fairness its a better, sleeker rifle. But the ballistic performance difference is inconsequential and the Carcano was the best rifle Italy who at the time was the least industrialized western European nation could do. And it wasn't bad.

    They never mentioned the accuracy issues introduced by improper bullet sizing in commercial 6.5mm Carcano loadings. It used a .268 bullet diameter, rather than the most common .264 6.5mm bullets used in almost every other 6.5mm rifle.

    • @dennispfeifer7788
      @dennispfeifer7788 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That really sucks, because I loaded up some 6.5 mm Carcano loads, and I don't recall the loading manual mentioning that it needed a .268 inch projectile...I loaded it with .264 projectiles...I'll pull the damn things if I can find some ,268 projectiles after confirmation your info is accurate...This would explain the 10-12 MOA when testing the Oswald rifle...for the Warren Report...which is a total work of fiction.

    The rifle is never going to gain any respect from shooters and collectors because everyone knows that the average Italian serviceman during WW2 wasn't brave or dedicated. The Italian military was known for being cowards. Nobody will ever respect them and it's because of that, their rifles are basically worthless on the surplus market.

      The fact you are calling the "average" Italian serviceman basically an undedicated coward is ignorant and flat wrong. The Italian soldier of WW2 was, in fairness not as vested in the conflict as others- but they did the best they could, often very successfully- despite the poor leadership of the higher command and often substandard equipment and a industrial base that could not support total war. There were plenty of brave Italian soldiers- many paid for their bravery with their lives. Its people like you who have been repeating the same foolish tropes for 70 years that are the real problem. Not the Carcano
