Watch hours are fine as they are, monetisation is supposed to be hard to get and needs to be earned with actual good content

Don't really agree but it depends what you deliver. In the last year my gaming channel got 9,500 hours but only 850 subs. Hours were easy.
What will you do with less views even if you get monetized you'll earn a dollar in a month that's it ...views is actually the main part of youtube anything else doesn't matter I saw 10million subs guys now are struggling to get 50k views
After 5 months and 25 videos, I'm up to 810 subs, 100k views and 10k hours of watch time. Whilst I appreciate the features offered by these lowered requirements (supers/memberships, etc.) will be useful for some creators, they don't really fit my niche, so I'm still looking forward to achieving the next 190 subs and getting access to the full range of monetisation features!

It’s interesting to think of the new monetization model as a way to reward streamers. So perhaps they were a niche that was left out.
As a viewer, I prefer down to earth type channels that are not big productions and professional. The peer to peer aspect of TH-cam.
As a creator, I also prefer the peer to peer model, because there is no way I can compete with any of those more skilled channels. I have adhd, just getting a halfway decent video up us a challenge. I don’t have the personality to monetize my audience directly. The ad revenue model is my only option, in particular if I want TH-cam become a strong pillar of my income flow.

I am at almost 300 subscribers and about 900 watch hours. I really like this new direction because it DOES give the creator incentives along the way to full monetization. This will make the creator more likely to make videos/shorts more often. The main goal is full monetization but love incentives along the way. Thanks for your content that helps me so much and I look forward to seeing the next video!!

What you said about getting into the partnership program, but not getting monetize yet is the main reason why a lot of people are giving up on their TH-cam channels, but I consider those people to be weak because everybody wants to get paid, but nobody wants to put the work in I know how hard it’s going to be for me to actually grow my channel to where I’m going to get monetized that’s why I’m not so caught up on getting monetized at the moment I’m going to work my tail off and see where it land me in the future☺️

@@GlimpseHCI THINK claims don't really have any bearing of monetization. It's just you cannot monetize those specific videos. But if you have copyright strikes or TOS strikes you cannot monetizs

😁 I did a livestream of a whopping 6,5 hours last Saturday. I did NOT expect I would be able to do such a long livestream! It did give me several options to make shorter videos from it, though, so I'll be working on that.
With writing sprint sessions in the livestream video, it might be interesting for people who just want to write, so it will be fun to see if people are drawn to this in the future :)

For me, I have everything plan even before the monetization requirements is lowered. If all goes well, starting this I could double my views and subscribers. Hopefully, I could get monetized on Christmas this year or on my next birthday on 2024
It sounds to me like the useful part will be getting pre-approved for monetization so when you actually get to the real 1,000 subs and 4,000 hours of watch-time monetization requirements, you'll get approved quicker. That normally still won't matter much, but if you happen to get a viral video at just the right time, it could be important.
As a travel channel based in Southeast Asia we have reached 518 subscribers and around 2300+ hours of watchtime since January of 2023.
Growth is stable, not too fast but we are patient and REALLY LOVE what we are doing. Monetization would only enable us to KEEP doing this.
For all the others out there, love what you do and success is already waiting for you to catch up!

For an old smooth brained gamer like myself. Its the equivalent of floating aimlessly in a sea. Nothing on the horizon for 360 degrees, but at least now there is a single palm tree that gives us something to paddle to. Its not much, but a goal is a goal and that's a good thing.

When I started posting videos about a month ago, I wasn't expecting much. It's just a little bit of martial arts knowledge thrown into the giant sea that is TH-cam. I had no idea that one of my first videos, after naming it properly and putting in good tags and a description, would take off and be borderline viral. I say borderline because it hit 55k views within 2 weeks and I went from 25 subs to 766 as of writing this comment. So when I started I thought it would be easier to gain hours watched over subs gained. But it looks like I'm going to hit subs LONG before hours watched. I've found to help the issue, adding more content to have a larger library. Thank you for these educational videos! They're a great heads up to those of us on the rise.

I’m sitting at 199 subscribers right now, and I don’t know how I feel about asking people for money like that…
Honestly I’d rather make money from getting a share of the ad revenue shown on my videos rather than asking for money from people who I don’t even know.
Random people watching my videos and interacting in comments is enough for me. Too many people out there are hurting for money nowadays, and I’m in no position to ask for a handout.
These huge tech companies have more than enough money laying around to give me an adequate cut of the revenue without me having to extort my audience.
This is just my opinion though, no shade intended for those who receive donos or anything like that. It’s just not something I’m interested in.

1465 watch hours (if I didn't unlist an entire series it would be about 1500 watch hours).
I haven't done myself any favours by long breaks & changing content which completely flopped. Trying to build it back up again. One day I will have the requirements for YPP. Over 4 years of making content, trying not to give up again!

Hi vidiq! Thank you for your content. I do have a quick question about being monetised. If I am a gaming channel, perhaps showing lists if the best games to play and gameplays, do I need to voice the whole video, part of it like the beginning or there is no need but can voice if I do wish to?
3 Month into it, doing Let’sPlays in german, I have 11 subs, 34h watchtime 29 Videos and 430 views. Started with livestreams but switched to just uploading the finished episodes. Not really happy with the progress but i‘m having so much fun just figuring stuff out ans doing what i love! So i just keep grinding and keep imroving until it clicks while having fun with it! So happy for everyone who‘s done it😊

I've been a paid youtuber for about 10 years now. I like having no ads. I am a creator myself and in the process of purchasing my equipment to build my studio and waiting on my Sony ZV-E10 to come in from Amazon to shoot my first video. It's been a journey coming up with the funds to buy my equipment while trying to support my family, but I very eager to get started with my channel.
I have one question that i think a lot of small creators are interested in. If i have 0 views, 0 subscribers and i want to make a video about a topic that doesn't exist on TH-cam, where will my viewers find my video? If i want to make a video about how people life's changed from 1950 to 2023. There are no keywords or specific audience for this. How can i make this work? Or how will this work on TH-cam, how TH-cam will find me viewers for my video, assuming it's a good video for everybody
I’m no where near any of the requirements, but I believe that at that point in time, the pre partnership program sounds like a good way to earn money and connecting in a certain way with the audience. I also agree that getting to the 1000 subscribers is a big achievement, and that shouldn’t be altered. Just my opinion though

But it's not fair that for all the previous time which for some can take years YT doesn't pay you a cent for the ads that are showing on YOUR videos all the time, just once you reach 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours they should pay you your share of the ads from the start of YOUR channel....Just my opinion though
I guess it's really hard. I have a college degree and try to do a lot of research when also using my own experience to make self-improvement videos for young men. That is something a younger me would value a lot. I have long history of making videos as this was always my passion but when I see the few views my videos get, I kinda ask myself if it's really a wise thing to do and if I'm not just wasting time. Trust the process?
I'm late but yeah I remember what it was like years ago when I hoped one day I'd finally get monetized. It's been a long 7 year journey making content on and off over many channels, but now I'm a mere 50 hours away.

I just started my TH-cam channel 3 weeks ago. I have a guided meditation video that TH-cam placed videos everywhere and I have no control over this since I have don’t met criteria yet. I don’t care about monetizing soon. I just want to make the experience for my viewers pleasant and inspiring for them. How will I get these ads out off the middle of my guided meditations? Any ideas?

about the adblock, yes i am using it, just because TH-cam is showing me ads that are in no way related to me and Google knows way more about me than my self, but they are playing dumb...

I use ad block on a lot of sites, but I turn it off for specific things, I also pay for memberships to avoid ads on streaming sites. I adopted TH-cam premium as soon as TH-cam started throwing ads into videos. 11.99 a month is not too much money, I spend many hours a week on TH-cam, if not watching, then I'm listening to videos, when I work or drive.

I’m still enjoying the content I make, but wanting to at least get to the ypp lite part of the program is something I want achieve, and say I’ve reached. I’ve got the sub requirement crushed, I just need to get the watch hours up. I think I’ve only got 60 public watch hours when I checked last night. Although I only post once a week, so maybe posting a new short could help, since I’ve not done that lately. It’s a slow process of where my journey is in terms of monetization, but hopefully I’ll get there one day

I am working on a video for my future TH-cam video (A history channel) that i have not created yet.
But i don`t want to create the channel before i have made at least 3 videos that i can put out, plus the "welcome to the channel" video.
This is because it is a lot of work to make this videos and it take some time, so i figure that if i have some videos laying ready, i can put out one and one, and then it will not be a boring channel with only one video for the three first months..
But i don`t know if this is a good strategy or not.
My thought is that if there is only one video there for say 1 month, it will be a less interesting channel to subscribe to for many people.
Any thought on this?

TH-cam is one of the few things I allow through the ad blocker. I don't mind watching a few ads. It's basically free support without having to do anything.

Why isn't my channel monitized

I hit the lower requirement last week (500 subs) and I'm not really sure I can take advantage of it tbh. As you say, Super Thanks is pretty much the only option if you don't stream etc. And getting people to part with cash for such a small channel is a big ask.
What they're not telling you is that channel memberships are unavailable If you have a just a single copyright claim. I am the only reaction channel on the internet that has been completely demonetized by copyright. I've made a total of $12 with 1200 subs 100k views, all from a reaction video of Rich men north of Richmond.

I had totally forgot about this update. Was showing some family yesterday how my channel has been doing the last few months since last seeing them and realized I'm 20 hours away from the 3k watch time!! Might give it a try when I get there, but I'm really pushing to hit 1k by my birthday in November. I think I can pull it off, but I make videos that TH-cam actively works against most of the time. 2A and firearm content is hard to break out with on here, but even considering that I've been doing pretty well since making an effort in December to post 1 video a week. Just started shorts for the last week and gained about 30 subs or so from the extra little exposure. Always working on it as I can outside of my real job and everything else in life. I like to work hard, so it gives me something to keep busy with and have goals to accomplish help me push harder through the tough times!

I wish they grandfathered channels that were already part of the partner program before they changed the rules the first time because it sucked when they took that time away given I was over 4k watch time but the subscriber numbers were just below 1000
Though given I took a year long break I now have to recreate the year long watch time which isn’t all bad because after learning how to optimize SEO I’m now applying what I learned to my new vids. The plus is I don’t have to recreate subscribers just get the last bit to 1000 so awesome!

I think TH-cam should change 500 and 1000 subscribers to returning viewers and new viewers
Here's what I mean
1. Instead of 1000 subscribers but instead TH-camrs need to retain 500 returning viewers and 500 new viewers for a certain amount of time
2.instead of 500 subscribers but instead TH-camrs need to retain 250 returning viewers and 250 new viewers for a certain amount of time
And TH-cam can keep the other recruitments the same
This will enforce the idea that TH-camrs need to build a audience and subscribers are useless now anyway

I was looking at buying a monetized TH-cam channel I'm taking care of my wife who has dementia and i don't have the time to start one from scratch I've tried twice and it just is taken too long. I do have the the time to keep one going any suggestions
The lower requirements seams like affiliate program for Twitch. Then you work for partner one. But Twitch does affiliate Ads pay out. At fifty percent in the program.
I held back on monetizing until I hit the classic 1000subs+4000hrs.
I just thought that it gave me a higher goal that was an incredible accomplishment, and made me focus on quality content.
I've made the dangerous mistake of jumping for joy after watching the first minute of this video at work, only to get home and continue watching to let the reality set in.
I started posting shorts for fun a few months back, got lucky with one of them going viral and decided to give it the old college try to get monetized. To date I have 8k+ subs and 8.3M shorts views.
Mid September is more or less the deadline to gain 10m views and I fear I may not make it.
P.S. I am aware I've taken the hard road of primarily posting shorts and very few long format vids. Also my content my fall into the grey area seeing as they are "creatively" edited movie/tv-show clips.
To be honest I don't know what to expect but I'm very excited at the possibility.
