i think the collet block is actually rotating a little when you tap it in. that's a lot of leverage you're putting on the block, it's not surprising it's moving by a couple thou.
Machines are not always accessible and it's lead time dependent...hand wound will always have its place, especially with specialty equipment. There is a empty hole in current day electric motor trade videos. On topic: Winding a rotor or armature is not dissimilar to stator winding. It is a more tedious process for sure and more involved. The data taking is relatively the same. Stripping the old winding out of one is the worst part tbh 😅

Ive had to do epoxy pours on smaller stuff for a rush, but theres no way your getting slot penetration on something this large
