Henry, The FB460V Kawasaki engine that is on my 165 John Deere has the “Notorious Solenoid Click” condition that was all too common with the John Deere lawn tractors and probably the RER mowers. Just For My Personal Curiosity, I tried swapping the starter with another starter and it was the same exact result. Usually I have to cycle the key switch 2 to 3 times and the engine will usually start right up and then there’s times that the starter cranks over flawlessly - Go Figure!!! So Henry, I was curious if your RER had the 38 inch mower deck. I have also seen the round 30 inch deck mounted on the John Deere RER mowers. The unfortunate thing about the John Deere products is that they are really proprietary and in many situations, The John Deere OEM parts of approved aftermarket part will be the only parts that will work at all. I am rather interested with this series of videos due to the similarities to my 165 John Deere with the wiring harness especially.
Taking off the kill wire, should of made it start/spark, only thing I can think of is the engine isn't grounded to the frame, maybe rust? Maybe rubber grommets to keep vibrations down, the engine to frame bolts I ment.... That would make the engine not have its own ground, and might need a grounding strap.... Strange.
If you could get the schematics maybe off John Deeres website ? Not am electrician sorry that's why I don't mess with riders or tractors . Maybe tomorrow you'll have better luck 🤞
I don’t know off hand what size, there are 3 different socket sizes, you should have all 3 kinds. I got the spark back because I bypassed the safeties. If you watched the video you would have known that

Henry I think some Kawasaki engines use an igniter along with the coil. It’s a little silver box that gets wired to the coil and I don’t think it’ll spark without it. It’s kind of a weird setup and I don’t know much about it but maybe that’s what you’ve got there? Good luck bud, nothing worse than unf***ing someone else’s project!
@@MowersNBlowers I hear ya, it’s working so it’s probly best to take the win! Just FYI it’s not the rectifier, it’s a little sealed silver box with one wire sticking out that gets wired in with the kill wire circuit. If you pull the kill wire you’ll take the igniter out of circuit too, then the coil won’t produce a spark. I’m not sure why they have it instead of just a normal magneto coil, seems over-engineered!
That stuff can drive you crazy!
Now I know how Henry acquired all his tools😂
All reviews baby!
Nice troubleshooting bro and you gained a socket driver out of it 😂 scorz!
😅
Could be a seat safety wire.

It’s a round 30” deck
@@MowersNBlowers I have never owned any of the round 30 inch mower decks before. According to the diagrams, They look very simple, Which is very good.

So those two green an purple ish wire's go under the frame to a safety switch
Thx bro
@@MowersNBlowers ur welcome an the safety switch is somewhere near the engine pulley also bud
@@erichines2138 good to know bro! Hope you’re subscribed
So how did you actually get the spark back?
And dumb question but, what socket size is the plug? 😅

I guess I thought wrong. I did watch haha! I thought just removing the kill wire would do it. Mine did not :/
I’ve watched all your rx75 videos :)
@@JennaandJustinsReactions it’s safety switches that are the problem
I have a sx75 John Deere . It m missing the whole air filter assembly , do you have one ?
No I don’t, but you need to look for a 9hp Kawasaki engine on eBay

Did you ever figure out the problem? I have an RX75 that ran great for a couple years and all of the sudden...no spark?!?!?

Yes

Hmm my rx75 has a slow crank and of course wont start. Watching videos to get some ideas.
Slow crank means weak battery or weak starter or most likely needs a valve adjustment
that's not a Kawasaki that's a kinda sucky
Lol
I hate wearing
