Thank you Tess! Great advice. My husband and I have been saving for a house for a little while. Given that we're studying abroad, we haven't feel pressured to take the big step right away. However, we do want to know how to approach it when the time comes so i'm loving this "home buying" videos!

    Hi Tess,
Your story sure sounds like me when I was 28 when I bought my condo.
Has what you said It was important if you can buy a house.
I know for me I made mistakes at the time when I look back on it.
My condo is being rented out now.
    This for sharing your video.

My parents was minimum wages factory worker raising 5 kids...they paid off their mortgage in 2 years. I’m a single mom raising 1 kid, I want to beat their record and buy a house in cash...one day. But I’m just now starting to learn about finance at age 35. My ex bff is a 36yrs old single mom & she already paid off her $300k home!! I’m still living in my parents basement. Feeling like a looser trying to catch up to the rest of the world.

I know this is two years later but I'm in the same boat minus the child. We are not losers we are just more wiser and trying not to make a lot of mistakes that others make

Thank you so much for this! About to be a 1st time buyer! Quetion: I thought home owners insurance and taxes was all added in the monthly mortgagee payment.

Owning a home is an investment and it will always cost more than renting. One of my friend already paid off his mortgage long ago but he still pay $1,500 monthly (insurance, taxes, association fees). This number does not include $$ he put away for maintenances. Yub.

Owning a home is a liability. Renting a home is an asset.
