Madrid Puerta de Atocha:
Beyond the tropical garden, you’ll find the modern terminus for high-speed trains. Known as Madrid Puerta de Atocha, this vast trainshed houses 15 terminus platforms. From here, you can catch AVE, Avlo, Ouigo, or Iryo trains to destinations like Barcelona, Cordoba, Seville, Malaga, Cadiz, and Granada. The architecture is impressive, blending old-world charm with contemporary design.
Underground Platforms and Suburban Trains:
Beneath the main station, there are 10 underground through platforms used by cross-Madrid suburban trains and occasional mainline trains. These platforms belong to Madrid Atocha Cercanias. If you’re at the back of the train, take the arrivals footbridge to reach the same area. Additionally, a handful of mainline trains cross Madrid, using platforms 5 and 6 at Madrid Atocha-Cercanias.
