    You tend to get two types of fans, those that choose their club affiliation based on just liking the team which is why we have fans of some clubs far away geographically from where that club is based or fans who support their local team or the team where they grew up. Football gets into the blood and I'm still playing at 58 a new type of game called Walking football which helps old boys like me still enjoy the Beautiful game long after we thought we we're finished.

    • @joealyjim3029
      @joealyjim3029 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find a decent amount of fans, myself included, support the team one of their family supports (normally their dad but possibly grandad/uncle/etc). So if the family member grew up somewhere but moved away you can also get geographically distant fans that way.

    The most memorable moment for me & it wasn’t even in this video surprisingly was Manchester United’s 2 goals in extra time to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in the European cup final in 1999, they had Giggs’s solo run in the FA cup semi final that year, but not the 2 goals in extra time to win the biggest prize in European football, not to mention it being the Historical Moment Manchester United won the Treble (league cup, FA cup & European cup), how did it not get in!!? 🙄🤷‍♂️

    I love you comments about the emotion - a lot of people, who don't understand the game, criticise that it is 'low scoring' or sometimes a 'draw'.
    It is only when you understand how difficult it is to succeed and score that you can truly understand the euphoria of the players and the fans.
    Unlike other sports - the general expectation is a 'draw' and therefore to win is a rush like no other and to lose can be the opposite.

  • @Dogs-of-war
    @Dogs-of-war 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As a Leeds Utd fan, i cant even begin to describe the emotions we've gone through for the past 16 years until our return to the Premier league last season. I have to admit on several occasions last season i wept whenever no-one was around watching our success, it's the same with the England national team, seeing us potentially having an opportunity to do well in the Euro's after years of heartache is very special. Football is a sport like no other, the emotions you go through cant be described, only other football fans will understand that.

But I support Liverpool due to my aunt and their history is absolutely amazing with what they achieved, last year when they won Premier league after 30 years was emotional to watch.

    Not just skill and fantastic abilities. Football requires players who can 'read the game', anticipate and plan ahead. In many ways, with skilful players, it's like chess. A game for players who anticipate, plan ahead, react and amend their intentions in fractions of seconds.

    The Manchester United treble winning season of 1998-99 was the greatest season any English club has seen especially after the UCL final in which Bayern Munich were winning 1nil in injury time and in those last moments of the game we went on to score 2 goals the first by Teddy Sheringham and the winner by Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Manchester United are the only English club to win the treble and if you dont know what a treble is it consists of the clubs main league cup, the main national cup and the main continental cup in United's case it was the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League

    The beauty of football was summed up in a quote by the late, great Sir Bobby Robson when he was manager of his boyhood club Newcastle United.
    “What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”

    • @MrBaronCabron
      @MrBaronCabron 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dank Waifuarbitrary words on a screen isn't really context lad. If I was watching something about baseball and it said 'Minnesota Shithawks Vs Boston Bluetits 1987 World Series' I wouldn't be like "ah yes, I understand the gravitas of this situation, so this play is now amazing." People new should be watching the best goals or tricks in football, or something like a Roberto Carlos freekick compilation.

    My team is Newcastle United, the world's greatest under-acheivers. In the 90s we were everyone else's 2nd favourite team, we were dubbed "The entertainers" by Sky Sports because we were fantastic to watch. I honestly think we led the way in the attacking style of football that the Premier League became known for, but typically, we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in 96, finished 2nd again in 97, and been playing catch up ever since. We must be the best supported failures in world football, 55000 every home game, and nothing to show for it. But one day......................
    I just hope I'm still alive and kicking to see it. Last time we won the FA Cup was in 1955......... 2 years before I was born.

    My football memory was going to the old Wembly in 1980, to watch my local team in the Non League Cup Final, our town only has 10,000 people but we took 15,000 supporters with us from the North, special trains and a fleet of coaches. We sang, and waved our flags, cheered the team being announced, with biggest cheer for our captain and centre forward. I remember when we scored, though not the two they scored. We walked back to the station singing that we would be coming back to Wembly in 1981, we didn't, haven't been back yet. Back home on an open top bus the team toured the town, as little lads chased behind to the market ground, where youths perched on top of hoardings and old ladies in plastic union Jack hats sang Congratulations and Celebrations. That we lost made no difference at all, we went that's what mattered.

    In Argentina we may have very corrupt politicians and an economy that astounds every scholar as even in default we still don’t crumble, and being in crisis is the normal where inflation never stops and no one cares. But there is one thing we are good at, making great footballers.

    You’ll find when an american calls a sequence of the game “a play” they get very offended. You have set”plays” in the game when there’s a free kick or a corner but you can’t use the word “play” during a continuous sport as 99.9999% of the time what happens in a football match isn’t planned but spontaneous. Also to be fair there’s nothing worse than seeing football with an American commentator. There’s no passion in American sports and it kills football too whenever you hear an American commentator.

    I am a Coventry City fan and, for my entire lifetime, I have seen my club go through hard times after hard times; points deductions, poor ownership, leaving our home city twice, relegations. But no matter how hard times got tough, our true fans never gave up, which has now paid off. They stood by the team even at rock bottom of the EFL. And I think that is the same for every team, because no matter how much hardship a team goes through, we will stand by our teams, always, with our love for football.

At one point we were close to relegation to the third division. At one point we almost went bankrupt. But now, we're thriving, and in 2015 we won the league for the first time since 1989. Man. I hate watching that Aguero goal for Manchester City. It makes me cringe so bad.
    It was the last game of the season and it was a battle between Manchester United and Manchester City to win the Premiership title.
    Both teams were level on points going into the final game of the season. Manchester United were on top with just a slightly better goal average.
    Manchester United beat Sunderland 1-0, and City were loosing 2-1 against Queens Park Rangers, but some how in injury time City managed to score two goals, hence City winning the title on goal difference.
    I was pissed to say the least.

    My team is Huddersfield Town, who have had a pretty fairytale story in the past, especially in the 21st century.
    No one who isnt a football fan through and through has heard of us, but ill tell the story
    In 2004 we nearly went bust, we were in debt, players werent payed, the club was bought for £1, we were fighting for survival in League 2 (4th tier of english football). Since then we have become the only team to get promoted in all 3 playoffs through pens, we’ve set records, we made it to the premier league in 2017, the best day of my life, we beat manchester united, we stayed up with a 1-1 draw against reigning champions Chelsea. Thats the story.
    (We also were the first team to win the top division 3 times in a row, first team to score directly from a corner, developed the counter attacking football philosophy under Herbert Chapman, and started the career of a Manchester United legend in Denis Law)
