capeachy, thank you SO SO much for subbing this interview. Finnish is such a beautiful language and it is so nice to hear Sami speak in his native tongue. What a perfect, delight-full interview. World needs more like him
thank you for English subs! it was such a pleasure to watch, even if english is not my native language. i love learning more about my favourite persons, so thanks a lot for this vid!
I'm from Portugal. Finnish language sounds so good and impactful in the words. This is what I love about Europe and other countries - yes I'm a just a lowly person, born in some where yet I survived by teen years so now I realize what the world is. Finnish sounds alien to me, originally, but this is also why feelings are so deep when you speak on them... Sami Jarvi, Sam Lake, Max Payne... This has touched my life 20+ y ago. Sami is still going, this is wonderful. I will be there for him forever. Cheers!
This is absolutely wonderful stuff to find on the internet. I am from Portugal, born in 1984. Max Payne the OG game inspired me in my gaming life - it was the stone that stuck in the ground for all my life. Then, as years went by I understood Remedy and Sami of course, they were not American or English - they where from elsewhere in the world much like I was. This was lovely to me. It is like 20y+ in Alan Wake 2 release... I cannot thank Remedy and Sami enough. You are lovely please keep making your magic. Again, I'm from Portugal but even though I don' t understand your language it sounds so cool and interesting, please keep doing things with your own feelings - I love it.
if you ever stumble on any recent interview with ilkka villi in finnish, please upload (if you can, of course... and even without subtitles is ok) and thank you for this one! much appreciated!
Do finnish people not take pride in their successful and meaningful people? For such a small place these reporters seems pretty ignorant to one of the best and most meaningful video game developers and their director being located there and id imagine as a publicly traded company for them a fairly big pull for they're economy aswell. Give the man some respect on hes name. Alan Wake should walk out their Olympic athletes, what else do they have? Impractical knives? Goofy cadence? And then to say" not many Finnish people up there on these lists and awards", maybe it's because you guys don't seem to value it's artistic merit by not really knowing him or remedy. Where's your pride people.
Watch morning show or daytime hosts interview celebrities anywhere, the interviews can be pretty horrible. They're not experts or enthusiasts of most subjects they talk about with their interviewees. However, it is a bit cringey, yes.
@@thefourthnorseman I meant as people of a small country having an industry leader in they're country thatd they'd know as people not even as reporters and be proud, not so dismissive, but I am using the reporters as an icon as the average finish person and that's probably not fair because talking heads aren't bright. So that's my bad and I hope I'm wrong.
@@jmcc6104 I don't think they're too dismissive, maybe at least one of them is a bit ignorant, but I think they're just rather using a simplified language that caters to their biggest audience - elderly people. They're dumbing the conversation down for tv viewers. Also I don't think Remedy is that big of a deal compared to other export industries that Finland has - it is maybe biggest in terms of AAA games but that is sort of a niche market for the wider audience. And this coming from someone who has played Remedy games since Death Rally, they did get big recognition back when the original Max Payne broke through and they became the first finnish gaming company that made it big internationally.
Nope, thats just finnish culture. Even if this might seem to you that they are not putting respect into Sam's name, they actually are. Finnish culture is different from many others and thats why you might had this feeling that people in here ain't respecting their own people. Like Sam said in the begining, in Finland its very rare if someone comes to talk to him in public or where ever he's walking. Even if a person knows who Sam is, people might not come to talk to him bc its a culture in here, to give a personal space and not to disturb others, which is respecting others also. So don't worry my friend, Sam is very respected here in Finland
Thank you so much for providing subtitles!
Holy crap he finally showed the OG clicker he's been talking about since the 1st game!
Sam(i) is a great ambassador of finnish modest mentality and such a respected guy with great mind of storytelling.
Thank you for the subtitles! I love Sam Lake and the more I can learn about him and his work the better!
What a phenomenal interview - immensely thankful for you for taking the time to translate and upload it!
Every time I see this man smiling I feel so happy

I actually remember seeing the end of this interview when it aired on TV.
Bet he is a Finnish national treasure.
Сэм красавчик. Думаю, что в жизни он отличный человек.

Hearing Sam speak Finnish is so 😍 feels weird to say this as a Finn lol

The only Finnish I know is Perkele, introduced by Ahti
Olipa kiva pätkä.
that's my baby yall
SAM LAKE YOU HACK!!!(affectionatly)
Idk if it’s cos I’m not Finnish but Sam seems way more reserved when speaking Finnish (or maybe the interviewers are intimidating to him?)
look like one of that tv show from Max Payne
yo this language does even sound real
Joeyy ditto
Didn't know that Sam was a D&D master
wow english is his second language, and he's writing game in America settings
Meu Deus, não entendi NADA do que esse cara estava falando.
Ei voi muuta kuin ihailla Samin ja Remedyn visiota koitella videopelaamisen rajoja ja mihin suuntiin niitä voi kerronnallisesti viedä.

"you did this great thing. Now write a book instead of keep doing this great thing you worked hard on " these talking heads suck and are ugly people.

Kyseissä musikaali kohdassa ei rämpytetty yhtä nappia. Noin tietämättömänä kannattaa katsoa kyseinen kohtaus.
