hi again.....just wondering if you painted the hull?........i havent painted as yet as I think the finish it has is quite nice and thought may leave it as is,,,,,what are your thoughts?......thx
@@Tagliamare just wondering what white paint did you use?…..I am using Tamiya ts 26 pure white……I have used a whole can with about 5 light coats but still not happy with the white I am getting?…….maybe I need to use another can?…..thx….tony
@@tonytodesco3018 that's a good paint. I used a tamiya super fine grey primer and then 3 coats of a white paint i bought from amazon (a cheaper one than tamiya)
hi... my dorade build is going well and I am up to installing the blocks. I was looking for the blocks and found I have to make them myself from the template which I think is quite poor considering the expense of the model. What did you do?....or did you buy your own blocks?,,,thx
Those are non standard blocks that’s why you have the parts to make them included in the kit. I decided to make them from scratch, there is a video about that :)
hi...am currently assembling the main mast and seems quite high. instructions say 96.8cm.....can you do me a favor and measure height of your mast from deck to top just to confirm I have it right....thx....tony
Hi Tony I don’t have the model with me anymore. Stick to the plan! A big part of the mast should fit under the deck. The main mast should be around 80cm from the deck
@@Tagliamare thanks....i just noticed now that you didnt wrap the lower main mast with that photo etch plate.....any reason why or just your choice not to include?....thx....tony
Hi Tony, yes the reason is simply that in that period it wasn’t wrapped in that brass sheet! To know more consider watching the whole playlist THE DORADE - Scale 1:20 Amati th-cam.com/play/PLjLFeG6md-d164FrNlU-ewjz-4whEmpSb.html
About to launch my own build...this super helpful, thank you!🙏 I was wondering how to go about bending the planks, but it looks like theres no need as the wood is soft enough just to glue/clamp down? Also is that black paint youre using to replicate caulking between planks? Superb video, thank you
Hi @Andrew, yes you're right wood is soft and not too thick and it bends easily. I replicated caulking with black paint in this case. I suggest you to have a look at this new video I made recently that you might find interesting about an alternative way to make caulking (take into consideration the scale of your model before applying one of the two methods)👇 th-cam.com/video/CybjsdaI1J8/w-d-xo.html
hi.....am just starting mine and the instructions say to glue the deck to the frame and then start the planking?...........i think it would be difficult to plank once the deck is glued to frame. I assume you did not do this way and you planked on the deck BEFORE gluing to the frame?......thanks
This is a pretty nice series, it's just too bad one has to watch it muted due to ever repeating super annoying jingle so it's almost impossible to tolerate it long enough to hear if you actually say anything at any point.
Very beautiful. I didn't know that cutting blade with a straight edge on the end.
Thank you!

@@Tagliamare well I'm on my 3rd can and probably about 11 coats....starting to look a lot better. Did you give it a final coat of clear?....thanks
No in the video I didn't but I highly recommend doing it =)
Good!
Thank you! Cheers!

Thank you, I did...more gr8 ideas! I also thought the use of drawing pins to get spacing between planks was inspired...practical & simple. 🙌🙌

I think I improved since the date of this video :)
Nice Video, thanks. But this parodontax advertise Ruins it as it cannot be removed from the screen.
Hi! Unfortunately TH-cam chooses what ads to run. I have no control over that :(
