You touched on this but I really appreciate that this makes that area of the park feel like an actual land and not a themed food court. It's not like there's a ride, but a gift shop and a (likely consistently very popular) meet & greet location are great draws to help flesh it out more. That old Pacific Wharf bridge also never did it any favors, it was so low to the water and off to the side that it wasn't super easy to find and didn't draw people in, which is obviously changed now. I was *very* skeptical, but this feels like a great and well-thought out update.
But it defeats the purpose of what Pacific Wharf, and California Adventure as whole was trying to be. They’re slowly getting rid of all the California theming and just throwing up some of their IP’s to make a quick buck.
I know this got rushed out for tonight but the thing I can hardly wait to see is how this looks after dark, especially the bridge.
And the lanterns!
All great food choices! The curry beef bowl was my fave 🥰
They did make a Silk Ear out of a Sow's Purse! It really feels like a destination now! It Still needs the big Red San Fransokyo Sign, several more Koi Fish Turbines, more Neon signs and accents, and some substantial cables on the Bridge, but it has intrigue and character with noticeable charm! Good work Imagineers and Cast members! Thanks FreshBaked for a fun tour!
It’s amazing. If only DCA had more space in San Fransokyo to put a baymax ride. That would make it a perfect land.
Maybe they will someday if they try to analyze the background first unless maybe they should consider doing a roller coaster that takes place on the roof.
@@disneyknightspadilla1406 I was thinking about that the other day.
@@disneyknightspadilla1406 That was my first thought when he said there was no room as well. But I was thinking more of a a gondola that looked like the heroes some how. So it would look like they were flying around from bellow. Other problems would be they would need to stylize all the roof tops to make it part of show, block sight lines, and find a place for a line.
@@dexrow I know it’s either that or plenty of more room outside of the former lion King parking lot.
San Fransokyo will not last even a decade. Mark my words. Pacific Wharf forever. DCA will be made California themed and great again in less than a decade after Disney is broken up and Marvel is taken away by Uncle Sam. That also means bye bye Avengers and welcome back Tower of Terror.
This merch is ADORABLE! Can’t wait to show my 5yr old. She LOVES this movie and loves baymax!
My son loved the meet and greet. The cast members were really nice and I very much appreciated that they were there for my kid. We waited about an hour, and were able to see both. There were a few adults that needed a lot more pictures and it seemed to make the line a little longer. The Baymax plushie was the MVP for us!
I'm liking all the changes...which is odd because I was just luke warm on the new theming at first but they did a fantastic job. Really want to see it at night when it's all lit up
Yuzu is a Japanese citrus.
Big Hero 6 is technically Marvel… so the spider bots fit.
One of the things I love about these menu items is that they're a solid shift from "basic fried fair food" that is the mainstay of most other quickservice options.. which are tasty, but these menu items have an _opinion_ and I'm here for it! More flavors = more better!
I have a feeling sooner or later than I might add more meeting, greets other than Baymax & hiro . I know yokai is scheduled to appear on the fifth during the boogie bash. What other characters including Gogo, honey lemon, wasabi and Fred will possibly make their appearance in case this grows old.
Thanks so much for quickly making this video for us! Ba-lala-la-la!
3:31 you hug it and love it. It can sit on your couch.
I honestly want everything
😭 7:10 THIS. I NEED IT
I guess that was the last of the old California experience. This whole Baymax thing was a stroke of genius! Can't wait to see it during Oogie Boogie! The parks just keep getting better and better.
I actually don’t see the hype over it, but I liked the area how it was. Oh well out with the old in with the new.
Ugly. Barely a REtheme. Ugly ugly ugly. Lazy retheme. And for a movie that wasn’t that popular. Go look at Disney Sea or Fantasy Springs.
@@DudewheresmycarnivoreYep, disneys third highest grossing film, but, clearly it wasn’t THAT popular….
@@Robot_repeater high grossing film does not a popular movie make.
It’s ugly and generic looking, but sure go nuts over a new coat of paint .
They’re probably gonna add more T-shirts between baymax and the team of six along with Yokai. They’ll be accessories for costumes including rocket fist, magnet gloves, speed discs, plasma, blades, and chem purse. They might make plush toys of Fredzilla, fashion dolls like the Disney princesses only with Gogo and honey lemon.
I was there last night and loved seeing the San Fransokyo bridge all lit up. It’s definitely brought more attention to what was a food court theme, to an actual Disney themed spot
Yuzu is a japanese variety of lemon. It tends to be a more mild lemon so less tart, more sweet. :)
Great video. Can’t wait to visit. That area really needed some love.
Love San Fransokyo ❤❤.
Japanese curry and thai curry are very different but both are delicious 😊 Can't wait to try some of that food!
Great video David and Liz! Enjoyed it a lot! 😃😃😃😃😃
I don't know if you have ever had Boba but that's what the popping spheres are in that drink. You need a boba straw (they've gotta have them there near the napkins and utensils because there really is no other way to drink it otherwise lol)... the opening of the straw is a larger diameter than a standard straw for the boba to come through. So then you suck it through the straw and it pops while you have the liquid of the drink in your mouth! It's refreshing and a fun drink!
It's cool to see the updated DCA w/ San Fransokyo!
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!!
I’m excited for all the Asian/ Mexi fusion foods! Those two cuisines play with each other very nicely!
I’m praying they do Kimchee fried rice burrito bowls some day! So good with a fried egg and nori flakes. 😭
I’ve been watching for years, since before you two were a couple !! Want to tell you how much I love the channel and love your Disney Spirit and how adorable a couple you make !! Congratulations Fresh Baked 💜 Love and Light from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤❤🇨🇦
Fun fact big hero six is a marvel comic dating but to 1998! So it’s kind of looks cool they have spiderbots
Finally! Some great theming instead of de-theming. LOVE IT!
Awesome! LET'S GO!!!
Thanks Dave! Wow! They did a great job! I think I might have to go check it out!
Tofu is Soybean curds. It's as bland or as flavorful as they make it. 18:17
Have caught your videos from time to time and i really enjoy them. I subscribed today after watching this video. You're both very natural in front of camera. Thank you FreshBaked. P.S. 3 hours is way too long of a wait to say hi to Baymax. He cute but you know.
I love 💕 the new? Pink umbrellas! Perfect music choice too 🎏🇯🇵!
That was FAST!! ❤🎉
Great video!!!!!
thanks for this. i can’t wait to visit, but won’t be there until march. agreed that pacific wharf totally needed a re-imagining and baymax is the best! 😍
I was a little skeptical at first with the retheme, but I actually really like it! From the upraded food, the various art everywhere and the much better bridge. Well done! They just gotta put the neon sign up and it'll be complete.
6:12 In the pile of stuff on top of the shelf is Yokais mask.
20:27 "Baked Fresh" on Fresh Baked! 😂
Both!
I'm looking forward to grabbing that sandwich and an ice cream week after next. My previous trips, I skipped through that area with barely a glance but I'm excited to try out the new stuff.
It looks amazing at night. Went last night and was in awe.
Awesome!
I was there on the 27th and just missed all this. The bridge not open, etc. I'll be back in a month for the Halloween stuff and will revisit the area.
Great video!
FreshBaked. David, Liz. The San Fransokyo overlay has really tied this area together and the menu updates have given the area a new zing. I can be found here a lot as I'm Baymax's Stunt Double. Cheers, Chris Perry.
The only thing I would add to throw it over the top would be to have some of the other characters walking around and maybe adding Tadashi scooter or sell some bots
You want something cool? Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland Terrace has a Baymax burger that has a white bun with Baymax’s face on it.
Hey Fresh Baked!!
That was fast!!!
Looks fantastic. The bridge turned out even better that I thought it would as I wasn’t considering the aerial presence. It adds so much character to the area!! What used to be where the shop is? I can’t picture it now.
Wow. The bridge looks incredible from near and far. Glad the food was good. Loved the quick pan on the baked fresh daily car
15:02 yuzu is a citrus fruit used in many Asian dishes :)
"green Chilies" probably Wasabi - Caution Hot! 10:55
Toufu or say Doufu go to “ranch 99” store! And yes the family name you would say Doyota! Maybe Toyota could pay for a jumping Baymax ride! Thanks for another great video!
It looks very well done. Can't wait to try the Curry when we're there for Oogie on the 14th.
17:06 tofu doesn't usually have a taste of its' own, it's like plain pasta - the dressing/preparation is what makes it. Agedashi tofu is a personal favorite of mine :)
Whoo hoo! Fresh Baked!
Love the J-pop music!
Ok, I’ve never been a character person, but I do feel a need for a Baymax hug… David, not sure this’ll died down as quickly as you suspect. Don’t know anyone who wouldn’t want that hug! That said, if he’s not guaranteed after a long wait… I love Hiro, but he wouldn’t be my goal
We almost always buy a “BooDeen” Mickey to take home, looking forward to Baymax. So, does one eat the head first? Maybe legs or arms? Always been an ear gal, so we’ll have to see.
I would love to have this new restaurant from big hero 6 themed at San Fransokyo square.
David it's nice to see Liz on this video. Love your food critique.
You didn’t squish the head of the Baymax plushy? 😮
I think Trabadour Tavern has curry correct? I remember last time we were there we had waited too long for food and our kids were freaking out and we stopped there and shared several dishes. It was yummy! I cook a lot with curry so it tasted like a home cooked meal. 🤤 Can’t wait to try all of this!
I can go down the street for free and see the Michelin Man lol
Was there last week and sat at the same table as you! hahahah!
Bridge was still closed, but went through Boudin many times to get a slice of bread! hahaha Best bread EVER. Just finished the loaf yesterday...in vancouver...and now there is no way to get more hahah
Fun fact, near the entrance of the bridge by the square side you can feel a small vibration like an earthquake or truck driving by. Provost Park Pass said engineers have confirmed.
It's the bridge itself that vibrate. It simulates a 2.2 magnitude quake. Barely noticeable unless you stop on the bridge.
@@patrickbatman4426 Exactly!
I mean they probably selling the spider bots there because big hero 6 is a marvel property too so it makes sense on top of hero being a robot builder
Baymax looks like he gained a little more girth after the Pandemic…lol compared to 2014
Nice to see something that actually fits the DCA title and original theme. Yes!
I see what you did there. LOL. But I admit I was one of those who thought the park's original theme was too region-centric. However, if the 2001-era park's budget had been as massive as that of the 2001-era Disney Sea's, the original DCA might not have slumped. As for an area that riffs on the theme of Tokyo, that city over 20 yrs ago did get the crown jewel of post-1955 Disney parks.
How does IP for the California theme? It’s a money grab.
@@PsychGirlRaven The movie takes place in a fictional version of San Francisco and Tokyo, hence the name. It's probably the most on-theme change DCA has had in a very long time, all of the San Francisco elements are entirely present still. They had to stretch to make Marvel & Pixar work, Big Hero 6 movie was almost begging to be included in the park.
DCA gave up its California theme ten years ago when they put in Cars Land, which evokes Arizona or Utah. The "California" in DCA now refers to the park's location, not its theme.
That's the point...you're in California, why do you need to visit 3nd rate glitter when you can visit the real Golden Gate Bridge etc in the state you live in...Disney keeping the failed California "Adventure" (misadventure) product.
The parks have had curry dishes for more than a decade. The Troubador Tavern has one that is good, and the Lucky Fortune Cookery has a few that my wife loves.
I loved your wife using the regular fountain to fill her bottle instead of the bottle filler right beside it 😅 😂
Omg are you for real 🤦🏼♀️ my life 😂
@@elizabetherickson6937 it’s brand new! You are forgiven!! (Sorry for clocking that hahaha).
@@evnkas oh no , you didn’t haha I just can’t believe I missed that 🙃🙃🙃
Out-of-frame-wife 😂 10:00
Where’s that big light up sign that was in the concept art that was supposed to say “San fransokyo square” across the fencing to the right of the bridge? Was looking forward to that :(
I think it's still coming!
Just look up! A Ride with Baymax (think Peter Pan) could be built up above the backstage parade building and roadway, using the Alley as entrance. It stretches all the way to Katella!
Disguise the building with more rockway for Carsland, bluffs for Pixar Pier, and super tall buildings for SFS. Then you can have incredibly long raceways through the skies and buildings, like riding on Baymax's back.
Hi guys, in defence of the Spiderbots being at Sanfrasokyo, well Big Hero 6 is a marvel comic
Ah, but my original problem with Pacific Wharf at DCA was that there is nothing there, there. Just food, just stuff to buy. And it's still that way. I've never gone there to go there. I wish there was something in the "land". But your analysis is cool.
Is the fish net photo spot still there on the water?
Thanks for sharing! That beef curry bowl looks delicious....not sure if that's enough rice though (why they have rice as a garnish is confusing to me)
No sign above the water😭? Hopefully they install it sooon
We would buy the Turkey shaped bread at Thanksgiving and the Snowman shaped bread at Christmas
I want to go too disneyland for I can meet mickey and Minnie and goofy also Donald and daisy even baymax OK.
What did Liz think of the shrimp katsu sandwich?
Im guessing that shrimp patty is kinda what they use to make hush puppies
I really wish they would have followed through on the Port of San Fransokyo sign in front of the cervezaria dining area. Disappointing to see such a nice lighting feature/piece of theming left out. I do believe it's the only thing from the concept art not done.
As a brit im so jealous of people who live in anaheim and orlando (if only fl didnt suck) and can go to disney as a JOB. I would love to go every other day and film things. Id be passionate about it. Need to marry an american lol
florida does have terrible weather and hurricanes.
I thought it was already open 😅
Did she say if you’re a vegetarian you can take the beef out? Like pick it out? Because that doesn’t work that way.
They still have the Mexican and "California Chinese" 23:09
Yup! Cool!
What did that area USED TO B?????
SO HAPPY the food is SPICY, and they’re giving CALIFORNIANS what they want, and NOT catering to “bland food” Flyover States tourists!! 😁👍🥂
all is missing is the ride!
For once I agreed sooner or later they should consider doing a ride if they do some research and analyze the background first like they should either do a roller coaster or maybe just a simulator otherwise cars line wouldn’t be in the way.
there is a huge warehouse right behind the bay max meet and greet that may potentially become the bay max ride @@disneyknightspadilla1406
Very nice considering the financial problems
Awesome. Looks great! Thx Fresh Baked!! Not a fan of the Jpop but that’s ok, always great videos from Fresh Baaaaaked Thank you! 😎
Amazing video want to go my boyfriend and I want to go now.
What am I missing? They essentially did a small remodel of the DCA Food Court. You would think they installed multiple rides instead of just ruining the clam chowder bowl.
David Tofu by it self no flavor but like a sponge soak up the Flavor if done right
☕️
It looks cool. Unfortunately, I never found the desire to go to DCA since I live about 30 minutes away from San Francisco. I can go visit Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf anytime, without having to drive 7+ hours down to LA, and pay $100+ in admission. I’ll save my money for Disneyland proper and Universal Studios.
Lucky fortune did have a curry... it was good.
I don't get it. Is San Fransokyo supposed to be a city in California? Is it suppose to be a correction of Chinatown in San Francisco to be Japantown? Is it about Japan having a city of San Francisco? Is it a city mentioned in some Disney film that I've not seen? What IS this? How does it fit with Disney's CALIFORNIA Adventure?
Does the new spot Cass still have clam chowder or is their whole menu changed?
10:26 I posted my comment about 2 minutes too early. Thank goodness they still have the clam chowder.
