I definitely agree that these proposed changes seem to be for the better. Tiana's Palace turned out better than I expected, and Disneyland has done well with similar improvements like Pelican landing, Merlin's Magic Shop, and Plaza Pointe. Let's just hope they do a good job the first time and don't mess it up like ToonTown!
the food was mid bro, only good thing was the shrimp that gumbo was a complete let down. Orleans cafe is far superior.

Shout out to all the 80's/90's babies who waited by that fountain with grandma eating snacks and watching the birds play in the water because they were too scared/short to ride Splash/Big Thunder.

I really hope they put in the same fog/mist effect they have at Tower of Terror in Disney World. Especially to fit in with the garden theme.
I'd settle for cooling misters to keep it bearable in the heat...
It looks like a quiet place back behind the exit of Mansion... Amazing how many things pass you by with out noticing them.
Great info! A couple thoughts:
1. The gift shop has to be small, to keep the perspective of the mountain and the mansion.
2. The gift shop should hopefully provide a better transition between the mansion and Tiana's Bayou (although I think the crowned water tower will still be an eyesore).
3. I don't the cemetary part of the queue will shrink at all. They're just putting an awning over it.
4. That wall by the cemetery already exists. You walked right past it.
5. There will fountains on both sides of the brick wall.
Imagine 8 feet between the (green iron)posts at the Haunted Mansion exit gift shop… it fits. Que expansion only will go out to the wheelchair access to NOS train station. I’ll put money on it
I hope they keep all the trees! A- it’s nice to have some variety from the Magnolia trees (love them but variety makes the area more lush) also the trees are mature and provide so much shade from the hot sun in the summer. I’m sure they have considered this but it would be a shame if they thought they needed all new!
I wonder if they'll keep those back switchbacks. In the concept art it almost look like that garden area we're seeing is just vine/moss covered terraces that'll give those switchbacks some much needed shade.
I agree, I think they're going to keep that part of the queue as is.
David, the existing inner queue won’t be replaced and shrunk to 1/3 of its current size… the “garden” you keep referring to is a covered trellis with queue beneath it.
Ooh! If they do this up right , it is going to be one of the best things they've ever done. But if they lose any of the trees in the process it will be an epic fail! That part of Disneyland is ALL about the trees!

One thing ive noticed in recent years that Disney has decided to update land aesthetics when a new attraction debuts in said land (e.g. Toontown update with Runaway Railway, Haunted Mansion queue with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure) I wonder if to get New Tomorrowland aesthetics, there has to be a new attraction in Tomorrow? 🤔
Thank you for such a fantastic video! I think the new que will be beautiful and the new gift shop will be amazing! My only concern is all those trees. I hope they don't remove a lot of them. They have been there forever and are great for shade.

Thanks for the update to the extended queue for the Haunted Mansion. I remember standing in that area quite a few years ago when it was used as the queue extension.
I'll be taking a trip mid January next year, so it'll be nice to see the start of construction.
Yea, but if you are from out of town for a short visit, aren't you going to be sad that the Haunted Mansion will be closed for the construction? And you won't be able to enjoy it?
I always get sad when they stray from Walt’s original ideas, even though he changed things at Disneyland not long after it had opened. He would probably have made loads of changes if he had lived longer. I hope they make the queue interactive and not just another windy line to wait in. I hope they find something to do with the fountain. I knew someone who sprinkled some family members around that area. I hope she doesn’t get upset when she sees this.😂 👻
This was my Moms favorite spot. She did want to be sprinkled here 😅.
Remember Walt wanted Disneyland to be for all ages. We still need quiet places for old folks to relax. My Mom and Grandma loved this area
It looks like there's potential for a lot of backup to be created at the Haunted Mansion exit. That could be bad.

we gain two fountain back to back and the Fence wall there will be a Haunted walkway where you walk into entrance and Pergold will add shade t=but the queue will still there My thinking that the Greenhouse will have handicap exit and elevator

Very interesting. Thank you for the recon! I do think there is more space near that hill that has the pumpkins abutting the train cave...I remember we used that entrance on the side during covid. SO I wonder if they can push back the hill and use that walkway we see from the switchback on the right side below (the one we used during covid) there might be a significant amount of footage created? That lower walkway on the right is at least 4 or 6 feet wide....
It appears we will be trading in the old fountain for a new one in the concept art. They are using the original plumbing to give us a duel sided fountain. Tina’s side looks like a water barer pouring a jug. The que space looks like it will get a lion (or some other creature) spewing water from it’s mouth.

I'm a bit worried about some of the trees, while it's easy to say "they're going to keep the trees", I notice a lot of them are on raised berms and the roots of the tree probably extend close to the surface, so in order to keep the trees they simply can't just shrink the area to a nice little circular brickway and plunk down asphalt on top of everything else and call it a walkway.

I believe that behind the "brick seating area" there is a wall fountain under the brick arch.
They could easily use the existing water supply to create fountains on BOTH SIDES of the wall.

I think the perspective of the drawing is facing south, toward the railroad track berm. You hsve it rotated 90 degrees
If this is anything like the steps on NOS, Pelicans Landing, and Tianas Palace…. then I am excited. They have been on a hot streak lately with NOS, so I’m hopeful that this will be a good change. Also… I loooooove the look of that new gift shop. Thanks for the video! Fresh Baked!!
Of all the things that I thought needed a facelift in Disneyland, the Haunted Mansion line was not one of them. Please do something about Tomorrowland! It is so much dead space and quite frankly sad looking. There are a million great things they could do there.
Tomorrowland is a massive, multi-year, multi-billion dollar project that will shrink Disney's park capacity by a significant amount during the years of construction (not to mention unavoidable impacts of construction walls, heavy equipment, dust, etc). It's a very complicated problem to solve, and at this point it's likely that Disney will open the Disneyland Forward project first to expand park capacity and give guests an exciting distraction far from Tomorrowland while they do Tomorrowland.
@@AStageForTheKingdom I definitely wouldn't want to shut down Tomorrowland. but I think there are things you can do without having to shut down the entire land. The building with the Captain EO show has been sitting empty for years and that giant building has just a Star Wars Launch Bay (basically a Star Wars museum). Both could have better things or rides inside without closing Space Mountain, Star Tours, or Astro Blasters.
it's so sad.. that the park will be a sea for lines. I remember walking around that area and sitting under the tree and enjoying the sounds of the park, and now it a line for the mansion. there is no access to the scenery as there was in the past. I know, I know.. people are going to say, "the old attractions were not designed for long wait lines", and I agree, but it's I think I will miss the current beautiful landscape of that area.
If the crypt behind the wall was removed it seems like the gift shop could potentially be moved a little farther back but is the crypt part of the show building/exit?

for some of it at least. but probably not all. the ADA parts may require them to close the mansion.
We seem to be losing a fountain but gaining 2 half fountains. One in the queue and one in the seating area, sharing the water system within the wall.
I'm excited Haunted 👻 mansion is my favorite ride 😍. I wonder if they will keep the shop attached to pieces of 8.
I don't get some of these renovations for the sake of a renovation. That area was one of the most peaceful areas in all the parks. It was shaded and quiet and beautiful looking. IP everything these days.
FreshBaked. David, I suspect that the gift shop will be as large as the"Briar Patch" shop. I hope Disney can keep the fountain and use it at another location in the park. I'd hate to see it be sold at a Disney memorabilla auction in a few years time. Cheers, Chris Perry.

I went to the Haunted Mansion with a friend in a wheelchair a long time ago and they took us in through the exit. I thought that was basically their ADA compliant method of accessability for the ride, but do they make people go through the line now?
they make people go through a line right next to the carriage but on the opposite side of the carriage than the actual lines

I think your wrong about changing the existing queue. They're not going to make it bigger, just add a trellis with flowers over it to add shade. But the concept art doesn't look like there are any changes to the existing queue.

David the sad thing about this is that, the original concept for the haunted mansion, is now being transformed into a curiosity shop, instead of being a curious investigator of a haunted mansion .

I just want to know when it will reopen. It's closing in January and then the refurb starts...but I haven't found any dates estimated for when it will be back up, any ideas?
Pretty sure its the normal closure for January, I imagine most of the queue work can be done with it still open and just reroute the line as needed.
I keep seeing conflicting reports then, many say the HM will close down entirely while the work is done . I hope not! @@dexrow

Really, I hope they don't use the vibrant colors from the concept art to produce the Mansion queue. That kind of color palate goes in Frontierland's Coco park. I feel like they're trying to merge Dia De Los Muertos in with the Mansion just because of the ghost motif and it just doesn't fit with New Orleans Square coloring and vibe.

Is it me, or does it look like they are going to eat into the fake grass area between the existing queue and the new queue. Why wouldn't they eat into that area?
That brick area to the right, look between the seated people. That looks like water to me. I think that statue in the wall, under the brick arch is a new water feature. I bet a buck 💵 Btw.. there is a water feature on the inside of the wall/ cue space about exactly where I think the outer water feature is. Boom! Just upped the ante to $5 bucks! Taking bets.
Do you think the new Madam Leota gift shop will be the same size of the new gift shop in Avengers campus? or closer to the size of the spiderman gift shop?

I’m curious about traffic flow through the extended Tiannas Palace seating area, especially on busy days (which seems to be all the time now). The railroad queue backs up down the steps and into that area. People aren’t going to be too keen eating lunch seated in the middle of a traffic jam. Hate to see that whole area go. Running out of quaint, serene areas in the park. As to the gift shop👎 Squeezing in another ride exit gift shop where it doesn’t fit.
Anyway I love magnolia park andI am not a fan of any of this nor is it necessary. Its worked as is forever. Get rid of fastpass for HM and the queue moves so fast you wouldnt need overflow anyway

I think you’re confused with all due respect. You’re looking at the fastpass area in the concept art, the exosting queue in the bottom right, and theb you turn around and point at the magnolia park youre standing in and falsely identify it as being part of the greenhouse space. Its so confusing .

The fountain CAN be moved… that’s how they’re getting rid of it.
It may be relocated, cant say for sure from concept art what will happen. Like all the trees and stuff may stay in place and they just create the area around it. Or everything could be ripped out and they go with new...
I know people are upset about the fountain, but I'd be more upset if they took out the trees. Mature trees are beautiful! That area is a lovely shaded area and will continue to be if they keep them. I really hope they theme around the trees.
🤔 So 40ft...a 9ft walkway... 4:15 40/9=4 you CAN fit. 9/2=4.5ft per current path...so you could do about 8 pathways in a 40ft area straight across roughly. Will they do switch backs like they currently do?
12:56 I do hope the theming to add more gardens will be enjoyable for everyone. That "back area" is just gross looking. Though I would think they'll keep the crypts along the back wall. Isn't one a doorway? I think it goes to the ride, but I don't remember. I think I used that entrance once a LONG time ago. As a kid it was creeping going into a crypt, but it added more spook.

There's a few questions about ADA access I have that are not answerable right now. So some things to look for when construction kicks off.
* How will the ADA entrance change from how it is now?
Right now you start by going into Genie+ lane with a cast member giving you a special card. Cast members at the carriage will take the card, break a chain, and you travel up through a ramp and around the corners, and mix-in with guests at the doors to the stretching room. Are the changes simply allowing assistive device access to just be Genie+ lane end-to end? No special cards or weird mix-in?
* How will load/unload work?
Right now you travel through the full circuit of the ride to get back to assistive devices, then back up via the stretching room. The whole point of this new project for ADA is to remove going back through the entrance: So how do we get back to our devices and exit? Are we going to see cast members move devices to the exit like Rise of the Resistance? Or will this be unchanged and we still do the full circuit (that space between normal unload and loading), but exiting a different location? Perhaps this part remains unchanged…
* Where exactly is this elevator going to be positioned & how will that exit back into the park?
I read the original announcement and realize that the new exit elevator is stated, but not the location. At first I thought it would be the future gift shop area. Cast members move devices, you don't do the full ride circuit, and you exit out the gift shop. But that's a lot more work for cast members…
Now I'm wondering if the "secret entrance" will have the elevator. (The path we were allowed to take stairs and skip the stretching room in 2021.) It's the path of least resistance in regards to exit flow as the existing loading/unload space will remain unchanged and no need to move assistive devices to a different spot. That also means the ADA exit will be depositing guests in a very different location than the non-ADA exit; behind the new extended queue and near the train station.
Last week I went though the Mansion with a loved one using a wheelchair. My perspective of the ADA challenges of the attraction went from hearing about other friends' experiences to known knowledge. I was already supportive, but shucks-howdy I'm even more excited for the improvements. Sure, going up the stretching room is a treat, but not worth the countless hassles of the entire end-to-end experience.

@@WindowtotheMagic I regularly look at the videos, and the chapter titles are accurate to what is being covered in each chapter. Like in the construction videos, a chapter about Toon town takes me to a video about Toon town.
@@ultimatemaitai Yeah… in fact, David regularly makes the mistake of forgetting to update his chapters because he is so overwhelmed with the pace of content creation. He tends to fix them later, once someone mentions the situation to him.
Standing in line enjoyable? Californian’s how low will you lower your standard of living.
That was what I originally thought that the extended queue is outside the brick walls. The only thing we didn’t get a picture of is the interior switchbacks, which is the worst queue area. I hate the new store and Tiana’s ride makeover. Disneyland’s new rides are increasingly irrelevant and a minus to the parks. Rise of Resistance, Smugglers Run, Runaway Railway, Spiderman are all disappointing. They are chipping away at Pirates and obliterated Splash and Jungle Cruise. We only get Haunted Mansion for 8 months of the year. No longer Walt’s Disneyland.
I realy wish i could swap lives with you or some other youtuber. As my life is ruins and no GF or no sorce of income for a few years (do not hires) cant fgind a profitable business thats absentee now and a youtuber scred me and i shot changed and screwed over. I wish i could swap lives with somone.
You should look into a job as a copy editor. You can make lots of money correcting spelling and grammar mistakes for newspapers, magazines and websites.
