    I’m memorizing John gospel in Farsi. One of the techniques I found useful is recording your voice and correct yourself until you can recall the whole part you are memorizing with no error. Pray for me in my journey. I’m a new believer.

    Best way to memorize the scriptures is, you follow what the Bible says, in josue 1:8 read and meditate the Word of GOD day and night.

      What meditation is in the Bible is very different from New Age or Zen practice (an imitation of the real). First it must be spoken aloud as in hearing yourself. So say the verse address , then the verse then the address again. Then repeat at least once.
      In Hebrew meditate in Jos 1:8 includes 4 levels: Ps Chris Oyakhilome explains Ponder, Mutter, Speak, Roar.
      Notice when you do it, each level goes deeper into the spirit and your faith in the veracity of that word increases. What “hagah” does is a declaration as a king does a decree.
      And you are a king and priest
      “To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
      ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭1:5-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

    I memorized Jude once. It’s only 1 chapter long. I would do it one verse at a time by writing the next verse on an index card. Could get multiple verses by using both sides. Then I walked every day during my lunch hour, and would repeat all I learned incorporating the new verse.

      I like the phrase "open secret". That is so true. It is open and yet it requires 100% of our meditation to understand just a little bit of its full intended meaning. But the understanding of the same Bible verse keeps growing as we keep on repeating and meditate in it. I don't think no one fully understands its meaning 100%. This is the beauty behind the Bible.

      IT is now known that memorization and other cognitive activities can delay or prevent Cognitive Decline (dementia).
      Apply the Biblical Principle of PERSEVERANCE and God will bless it. This is not just an earthly thing. The Scripture that you sacrifice to memorize will bring forth life in your brain cells. The Word of God is "Supernatural".
      "Know you not ? That you are the temple of the Holy Ghost" writes the Apostle Paul to the Corinthians! That is
      SUPERNATURAL!

    I am working with a hospitalized, recovering heroin addict and visited him a week ago. While I was at his bedside, I told him about Paul's imprisonment in Rome, and how he was locked in a stone dungeon through which raw sewage flowed. I then related Paul's comment in Philippians 4:13 as Denise talks about here, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." Paul's message is that we can endure hardships through our relationship with Christ. Several days later, I visited him again and noted although he was a smoker, he ran out of cigarettes and had not smoked for days. I asked him how he could go for days without a cigarette, and he replied, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." Certainly, going cold turkey isn't as grueling as being imprisoned, but it illustrates Denise's point...learn Scripture within its biblical context and see how it applies to your own life situation. This is really the best way to learn and memorize Scripture.

    I've found the best way for me to memorize Scripture is to speak it with emotion or emphasizing key words.
    I read it through out loud a couple times, then I speak it from memory. Longer verses I take in smaller bites.
    Then after I have it down I go for a walk reciting the Scripture I just learned. Then later in the day I will recite it again.
    I have memorized entire chapters just doing one verse per day.

      Timothy williams are you describing yourself or the comment made

    • @gerard1954
      @gerard1954 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Timothy williams except it is the only book over 2000 years old that does not need to be updated . And it’s the only book that is 1/3 prophecy and it’s quite obvious that it’s accurate in its predictions. Unless your eyes are closed this mythical book is amazing to be 100% right on in its guessing

    • @gerard1954
      @gerard1954 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Timothy williams my only suggestion would be instead of believing something you were told existence of God or not it’s worth your time to search it out for yourself because if it’s true you have everything to lose if you reject it. I found out long time ago that I don’t believe what people say about the reality of god but by going to him personally I found that his word is accurate true and as a result the guidance I get makes my life have meaning and purpose and being freed from having to do drugs which even the ones who still do drugs know it’s not doing any good . So following Jesus makes it to where I don’t have to do the things which do me no good and can be freed from it . Oh he’s real and wants everyone to repent and come to him and be free

    • @gerard1954
      @gerard1954 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Timothy williams I also find it amazing how non believers who have made up their minds before examining all the possibilities call people ignorant when the ignorance is exactly what it is just like your clown comment it’s you who are a clown and ignorant . Reconsider your stand on this you may find the truth

    • @gerard1954
      @gerard1954 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Timothy williams if you would look at bible prophecy you might change your mind it says god would bring back Israel in the last days and the Barron land he would make bloom and that . Iran Russia turkey would all be together to come up against Israel look at the news and see bible prophecy unfolding. We are that last generation it’s just as it was written over 2800 years ago. That’s phenomenal to keep a blind eye is foolish . Seriously just take some time and consider the possibility . It also says in the last days people will scoff at the believers and they will call good evil and evil good. And you can be sure the more people attack the Bible the more I personally see how it is coming to pass exactly how it says this will happen . Don’t harden your heart to the facts

    This is how I memorized the Book of Hebrews and the first 8 chapters of Romans. I read the text every day for 15 minutes and proceeded no further than what I have memorized, so I may read 5 texts and I stay with them until I have it. I put the whole book of Hebrews on a cassette and I listened to it when I could, like walking, etc. I also fall to sleep listening to that book on cassette . I carried a small N. T. with me throughout the day and I practiced quoting the passages and when I forgot them I would simply look them up. I spent about 40 hours on the 8 chapters of Romans and only 31 on the book of Hebrews and I did Romans first. It was a great joy to do that but then after many months I gave it up cause it took so much effort to maintain it, plus there is little need for it when the average person can't quote a few verses or even know their bibles. And I did that when I was about 38-40 years old and now that I am much older I doubt I could do it again, but I could be wrong. I know a person who memorized the book of Revelation while stopped at - red lights, some have a gift - some don't, but you never know until you try it.

    Thanks for this video. I’m always looking for new ways to learn scripture. I’m a visual learner, so along with writing it out I also break it down into illustrated symbols to trigger key words and where things fit together. Repeating words or phrases I give a symbol to also so I know how many times and where they come up.

    Another technique that works is take the first two or three words of the scripture. For example thy word- have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against thee. and memorize those words and then you will be able to go back and memorize the whole scripture. If you can remember the first few words you will remember the whole scripture by only looking over the verse a few times. It works for me well.

    • @GilbertNichols

      @Rose Lilly it's obvious you have never read the Bible but have believed "another gospel." Psalm 119:11 says we're to hide His words in our hearts that we might not sin against Him. In other scriptures, the teachings of Jesus must not only be read but it prepares us to best defend our faith in this unbelieving world. If your catholic church was all that wonderful as you promoted, what do you say about why the catholic church engaged in the Inquisition that was responsible for killing Jews and Christians as well as others who didn't believe in the teachings of Catholicism? Why did the catholic church start out endorsing nazism during the initial reign of Hitler? Why did the catholic church burn Christians at the stake for translation of the Bible, such as Tyndale? No, Rose. You are confused about the role of the Bible in the lives of believers. The old testament existed before Catholicism, which didn't officially begin until the 6th century after Christ. You must get to know Jesus Christ as your only mediator with the Father, God. Then repent for your condemnation of the Christian teachings of following the LORD Jesus Christ without the teachings of the Roman catholic church.

      I have been using the first letter technique for years. One side on an index card I write out the verse and the other side just as the first letter. I always put the address of the verse because I may see a car tag or a number somewhere that will prompt me to think of the verse such as 333 meaning Jeremiah 33:3. When I do my quiet time, I ask the Lord for a word/phrase that He wants me to study or an address so He can speak to me. There is an app called Scripture Typer that is good too. God bless.
