Our pastor memorised the whole Book of The Gospel according to John recently and we got to listen to him this past Sunday. It took him between two and a half to three hours and we just sat in awe as we walked through all 21 chapters with him. I was in tears when he had finished. We serve a wonderful living God, halleluja!

My nephew memorized the whole Quran at age 9. I've memorized 30 chapters myself. This is not uncommon within Islam. The most memorized book in the world is the Quran. Tens of millions maybe even hundreds of millions. It's so common we stopped counting.
"And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?" (Quran 54:17)

      Abdul,
It is wonderful that you and so many others have memorized a book so dear to your heart and heritage; as well as the bible.
I have struggled with reading comprehension (So much that I sometimes have to read a verse or sentence several times, 5 or more times before it clicks - I can understand what I just read.) and memory retention my entire life.
I'm happy that you and so many others don't struggle with what I experience.
We all struggle with the burdens of pride and feeling insignificant to some extent. But, those feelings are not from God. They come from our enemy, Satan; who is jealous of the love God has for mankind. Conviction is from the Holy Spirit God puts in us the moment we accept Jesus as our Savior. Condemnation is from the enemy.
I've learned our feelings/emotions sometimes lie to us and may cause us to make mistakes that then lead to shame or a myriad of other emotions that eventually lead us to separate ourselves from God and people. God is the only one who can give us true fulfillmen and contentment in life.
My prayers for you Abdul, are that our great and mighty God blesses you and your family in every way. That He helps you to see how very, much He loves you Abdul.
And, I mean this in love for you as a brother of mankind - that He softens your heart that you may see it's not necessary to display your superiority to others to feel significant; especially putting others down to feel superior.
The God of The Holy Bible loves you way too much to make you live up to the daunting task of comparing yourself to others.
      God loves you Abdul!
Before He created the earth, He had a plan for you. He made you in His image, He knit you together in your mother's womb Abdul and you are perfectly and wonderfully made.
He loves you so much that in knowing we ALL would struggle with pride and many other sins, He made a way through Jesus Christ for you and the rest of mankind to escape the death that comes from sin.
We love, because He loved us first. He doesn't force us to love Him in return for creating us (that would be against the free will He made us with). But, instead He gives us life and the ability to choose to love Him. All He desires is to have a relationship with you in this life and in eternal life in heaven with Him. But, you must decide to pursue a relationship with Him, to choose to have faith and believe in what you cannot see.
Ask God, to reveal Himself to you and He will.
I am also praying that He will make Himself known to you and your family in a very, real way. That you may desire to know Him, His great love for you and see His faithfulness. That you thirst for knowledge of Him and will make time to get to know more about God and His love for you, through the Bible and intimate prayer with Him.
Should you desire to read up on any of this, I suggest starting with John, then other three Gospels that back up John's testimony (Matthew, Mark and Luke) and then Romans that I mentioned in my previous comment.
May God bless you and keep you Abdul!

Hi, I memorize Scripture with pictures and objects. I memorized Psalm 62: 1-2 , My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him .He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken. I go to the thrift store clean the objects junk stores are not know for being the clean though some are cleaner than others. I bought a doll bed, put a insole placed a rock and had a toy castle, and a sealed salt shaker . The bed represents rest, the insole (sole) grabbed a rock from outside, placed the castle (fortress) and the sealed salt shaker could not be shaken.I shared this my church youth group and my of the young people got it.

Why do you say "God's" word when the bible is said to be inspired by God and not revealed? Is what we have today as the bible what Jesus(peace be upon him) was given by the almighty?

Great tips - thank you for sharing! I was inspired by Jason Nightingale to start memorizing scripture several years ago. Since then God has allowed me to memorize John 3, Colossians 3, 1Timothy 6, and the whole book of James. I also just completed Romans 6, 7, and 8. I totally agree that ANYONE can do this if you set your mind to it. Repetition and consistency is key. God’s word is powerful and He is so good!!

There's a pretty good Bible memorization app that I've been using and it's free. You can find it at biblememory.com/ It lets you organize your verses into groups and then you can review the ones that need more work on a more frequent basis, and then once you've learned a verse you can move it into a group that you review less often.

My question is, once A chapter of book is memorized, and you hop on to memorizing other books and chapters, how do you keep from forgetting the first ones, or all of them really?

    • @BranchTogether
      @BranchTogether  4 ปีที่แล้ว

I (Darren) have memorized whole books, so I review the chapters as I go through. Most people don't review them forever though so you eventually get to a point where you can't recite it anymore. The thing is though that by the point God has used the word to shape you and certainly even of you can't recite it word for word, things will come to you when needed!
