  • Welcome to my review of the brand new 2024 Mini Cooper S in petrol form! Filmed at the SMMT driving day, I take a quick but thorough look at this iconic car, packed with modern features and classic Mini charm.
    In this video, I'll walk you through the key specs of the Mini Cooper S, including its 200bhp engine, 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds, and 44.1 mpg fuel efficiency. Priced at £27,000 (with this particular model coming in at £34,700), this Mini still retains its distinctive character while boasting impressive performance and features.
    Join me as I explore the exterior design, including the striking wheel arches, diffuser, and tail lights. Inside, the Mini offers a spacious front cabin, a massive touchscreen, and a sunroof that adds to the airy feel. I'll also discuss the driving experience on the Millbrook Proving Ground, highlighting its responsive handling, comfortable ride, and that unmistakable Mini driving feel.

    I love it! It's better in all fields and the best replacement for my R53 after daily driving for 22 years without any problem. Can't wait.

    My 2019 convertible S was in the shop a week or so ago. Despite notorious maintenance costs, it’s a fun car, and of the car’s I’ve owned, quite possibly my favorite. Anyway, the dealership gave me a 2024 loaner, while they did the work.
    The new model is boring as hell. All of the mechanical controls I enjoy, from the steering, to the traditional PRNDL stick are completely gone. The dash lost all its personality, and easy switches and buttons were replaced with a touch screen I had to click through. Wanna lower the AC? Close your navigation.
    The beautiful analog gages gave way to a HUD. Functionally, this may actually be somewhat of an improvement, but it’s a total aesthetic loss.
    I hope my 2019 lasts forever, because I’m not trying to replace it with that

    Black gloss wheel arches... nice,....... but after 3 month you need to employ your own detailer.

    Why are the British specs slower than the US specs? 6.3 sec 0-60 and more hp and torque for the Cooper S :/

      Welcome to life in post Brexit, and Covid (that resulted in shortages on new cars and a premium placed on them as a result).
      Interestingly, this car is built in Oxford, UK, and hence you'd imagine that the lack of import and reduced delivery charges would have favoured the pricing point of this car.
      However, in comparison to the U25 all new Countryman's pricing that's built in Leipzig, Germany, it doesn't appear that there's any cost saving on this British built product.

    • @robertgillingwater
      @robertgillingwater 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Surely nothing to do with Brexit - UK version and right hand driving position. Nothing in character like a real mini, just a re bodied 1series BMW

    • @da_great_mogul
      @da_great_mogul 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @robertgillingwater what are you on about? You want to roll about in a 60's classic do you? What do you consider a Mini? The driving dynamics of the Countryman are very different to the X1. I've driven both and the steering and handling responsiveness is greatly improved and more direct.
      If a car is build in EU and imported into UK, it now incurs higher taxes. This has nothing to do with what side of the car the drivers seat is on but to do with where the car is built and shipped to.

    Thanks, helpful. Thinking of getting one of these (in cheapest Classic trim) to replace my 2016 Cooper auto, and as I'll be 60 this year my main concern is the ride. Mine has 16" wheels and borders on too firm; is the S on 17"-ers going to be worse, or have they changed the setup somehow? Might end up going for the Cooper C Classic + Level 1 (which basic S has) with 16" wheels, still sub-8 0-62 so fast enough for an old guy :)

    • @matth1j
      @matth1j 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think I'd need the Level 1 (£2k) on the Classic for the head-up display; without it I'm not sure I'd be able to adjust to looking at the central screen to see what speed I'm doing. Other toys would be nice (folding mirrors, keyless entry etc.) but not essential.

    I currently own a Mini Clubman JCW 2017 and while I had it in for service on Monday, went to check out the new range of Mini's (Aceman 'old clubman', Countryman and Mini Cooper 3-door). I was especially surprised to note that externally the new Mini's have a higher window line / slab-sided appearance than the current/last generation and wonder whether this might feel claustrophobic from the inside. They're also bigger than last generation with the Countryman being only slightly smaller than the BMW X1 small suv ergo not-so-mini anymore.
    I love the brand, but geez, the prices are steeper now than ever before. The Sales person also boasted that Mini now have a 5-year warranty as opposed to meagre 3-year one they used to offer. Still other makes are doing better and even though I love the performance of a Mini, I'm gonna check out the new Toyota C-HR GR hybrid. Yes, its not a sports vehicle, but its surprisingly well economical and well appointed.

      @@allen7218 yes it's true... For example I miss the exhaust but it's ok and very easy to do something about it. For me the f66 is the perfect replacement for my hardcore r53. I want the DCT ( 22+ years with a manual in every day use is enough for me 😂) and I drove both last week the S and the C. Even the cooper c is almost the same fast as my stock r53. Overall is better in everything from the F56 which I wanted but thankfully I couldn't order. The design is unique and the materials are perfect. The seats are much better in feeling, holding and comfortable. I can't wait :)
