To avoid the breaking of the battery plastic cover on the 1st gen Sire V7, you just need to remove the foam inside. I did that and after 4 years the covers are still perfect.
It is its own, and you can see that Marcus Miller has had a great influence on the development. It has a super nicely designed head, nice to see that a manufacturer has gone completely away from looking like a fender (which in my mind, is just a myth). The assembling is super well made, I would think it should cost more than 1200 USD in this version. I should definitely have one more in my collection, as a backup for this one! And by the way, thanks for your very nice and in depth review.
These are truly great instruments! There are an excellent value for the money. And they are so much fun to play. Thx a lot for watching and commenting. Stay safe and healthy! 😀👍🏻

Thanks for the well-edited video, the great review, and the great playing. Your review was the final convincing for me to get a V7 (not sure if 4- or 5-string)...and motivation to work more on improv/ad libs, too. I've been wanting a tobacco sunburst to round out my sunburst Stingrays, and an active Jazz-style bass is exactly what I've wanting over my passive MIM and Squier Js. I'm sure I'll love this.
That's really superb! Glad, you've enjoyed my review and it even motivated you. All the best, and have a lot of fun with your bass. Personally, I prefer the 4-string. ;-) All the best.

Such an excellent review! Unfortunately, my recently purchased V5 has issues with how the tuners have been installed and is being returned, which is a shame as I love it 😢 However, a swamp ash V7 in white (the swamp ash grain looks insane!) has just come up for sale near me and I'm sorely tempted on the back of your review. Thank you for such a great demo of the tonal range.
My Sire V75 weighed slightly over 11 lbs which is a bit heavy. It is a well made bass and good sounding. Other problems-during a live gig it was difficult to change settings on the too many knobs and the slightest move on knobs changed sounds a lot. My band does not permit making noise between songs and I greatly missed the 5 way Strat style pickup selector like on my Stingray 5 HH where I did not have to fiddle with knobs at all. The other thing I hated about it was the Jazz Bass Hum! I have long played Stingrays and P Basses which do not hum and I got tired of this bass. The P7 probably would have been a better choice. Liked your review-nice work. The V7 sure is pretty and yours is just gorgeous. Well worth the $.
Thx a lot for your nice words. And you have some valid points here. I play my Sires more or less passive only (very seldomly, I use the active EQ for a bit of bass boost when I play the bridge PU only). As for the hum, I played my 73 Jazz Bass exclusively for a long time, so I got pretty used to the single coil hum, i guess. 😉 All in all, the V7 4 and 5-string are still my most played instruments when gigging. All the best. 🙏🏻😀

Hello Michael, I currently own a V7 five-string, but before I got it, I wanted to buy a Yamaha BB425X, which you also had. I'm a beginner, playing for 4 months and there's another BB425X for sale now, for a good price. Since you had both, I would appreciate your opinion on what should I do. I dislike the neck dive, weight and too many knobs on the Sire (I know that seems funny) and the low playability high on the neck on the Sire. I like the tone, neck is fine to me and it's comfortable, I like the bigger body. I played a BB425X in a music store, but that was 3 months ago and I was a lot worse than I was now, so it's not relevant to me. It seemed to me that it has a slimmer neck, it balances better and is a lot lighter because of being passive. Can you tell me your experiences and opinion, since you played them both, and are 50x more experienced than I am. Thank you.
Hi Aleksandar! You're right, I owned both. And I really loved the sound of the Yamaha. Unfortunately, its weight was too much for me, especially during long shows. The Sire is much more comfortable to play, in my opinion. Sure, it is a bit neck heavy, which is quite typical for Jazz Bass style 5-string basses. But you can solve that issue with a really good strap. If the knobs do disturb you, simply play the bass in passive mode, as I do most of the time. It has got a killer sound. But the active mode is there, if you want or need more EQ options. All in all, I'd recommend the Sire V7. All the best, bro. Please stay safe and healthy.
I have the P7. and that battery cover is a pain. I've some small neodymium rod magnets, the same lenths as the screw holes, so with a little expansion they should fin in. going to make a .5mm plate that fit's the hole and then with back it with a piece a wood or carbon fibre, Or maybe the original cover with faux screw heads. A guitar pick should be enough to open it.
Hey Micheal, I just bought this bass because i wanted to start playing 5 strings. I have to say, the D string sounds really thin compared to a fender jazz. It lacks a bit off character... Any tips on how i can improve ?
Hey. Greets to the Saarland, my old Heimat. Well, all Fender style basses tend to be a bit heavy on the neck side, when it comes to 5-strings. But with a good strap, it's very nicely balanced! Liebe Grüße, bleib gesund! 😀🙏🏻
The swamp ash wood grain is absolutly gorgeous!!! The low-B is very stunning too! How do you judge the "heavyness" between the 4 and the 5 string? Does the 5 string has more or less tendency to neck diving? Thanks for sharing.
Just unpacked a 5 string Sire P7, alder. Well, it does have quality issues out of the box. The fretboard edges ARE sharpy. The volume/tone knob operates awfully, you can't turn each part individually, up or down one drags the other along. My 4 str V7 1st gen has a similar problem, but on P7 it's even worse. I tried to pull out the knobs to see what could be wrong, but they wouldn't go out. And lastly, the alder body seems to be built with two pieces of wood at a ratio of 2 to one, which looks kind of weird to me. The smaller piece forms the upper part of the body, the wood structures of the two pieces do not match at all, the line where they're glued together is clearly seen and it looks cheap and ugly. Okay, fret edges and knobs are fixable, the weird body built is not, so I'll have to live with it. These are the things that got me upset after first five minutes of getting to know what I bought. But still my overall impression of the bass is more on the positive side and I hope we'll get along pretty well together))
That's a bit disappointing. But one has to remember that this is a budget instrument. And overall, the quality is still outstandingly good. I had a Fender Marcus Miller signature, MIJ, 10 years ago. Great sounding bass, but super heavy, the neck couldn't be set up to have rattle free tone and not having too high action at the sime time. And the ash body was made out of 4 parts which were pretty strangely and unevenly glued together as well. So that's an issue you find on more expensive instruments as well. This V7 5-string doesn't have any of the issues I've mentioned in my 4-string review. You could send it back? The shop where I've bought my 4-string offered me to take it back and refunding the money. But I chose to live with the rough edges of a few frets, got it fixed along the way. And this bass is a true tonemonster! Enjoy it, and have a lot of fun with it. And please stay safe & healthy! All the best!
@@MichaelSchmittEleven Thanks a lot for your empathetic comment! I totally agree with all the points you’ve mentioned. I can’t send it back because it was imported to Russia from Germany with all the red tape customs procedures and duties. Sending it back would be a hell of headaches for me. So, I rather congratulate myself than nurse the grievances ) And, by the way, thanks for great review and playing ✊

@TheFriendlyPsychopath. I've owned several "real" Fenders, and still love my 1973 J and 1975 P-Bass. It's all a question of taste at the end of the day. @@MichaelSchmittEleven Maybe I’ll buy one or two since I have ultras and elites and music mans. I’m kind of a gear head anyways. Which model do you recommend for slap with some zing in it and which one do you recommend for overhand pipe?
@TheFriendlyPsychopath. I'd highly recommend an V7 (which is a "hot rod" or "boutique" version of the Jazz Bass) or the Z7 (very Stingrayish). They all offer really good hardware, great playability and 18v preamps.

And then again - it sounds great, plays great, looks great overall and with a few fixes will definitely deliver a lot of joy to me. So, I rather congratulate myself than nurse the grievances ) And, by the way, thanks for great review and playing ✊
@@geeush Oh, I see! Then sending back is no option.
But I'm sure you'll be able to sort these small issues out!
Enjoy your beautiful instrument, Gadzhi, and please take care, stay safe & healthy! 😀👍🏻
Greets from Germany!

🙏🏻👍🏻😉
I'm absolutely gobsmacked that this costs less than £500 here in the UK. Are they selling these at a loss or something?!
Really superb value for the money. 😀👍🏻
The mix doesn’t help but it’s a nice bass.
Thx a lot for watching and commenting!
Background music is too loud. Can’t hear bass clearly.
Please use headphones. The bass is pretty prominent in the mix. 😉
Thx a lot for watching and commenting! Stay safe and healthy!
Looks like they discontinued this model. What a shame
Really?
Bla bla bla bla zzzzzzz
Thx for watching and leaving a comment. May you and your loved ones have a great X-mas time!
It’s a review…
Id only buy one of these if i couldn't afford a Real Fender jazz bass.
I use these instruments as my main basses. Can't complain about their quality at all.
@@MichaelSchmittEleven Maybe in the future if you save your money you’ll be able to afford the real thing.
@TheFriendlyPsychopath. I've owned several "real" Fenders, and still love my 1973 J and 1975 P-Bass. It's all a question of taste at the end of the day. But for me personally, being lucky enough to make a living off my playing, these Sires are the professional tools I need to get practically any job done. All the best and take care. 😀
