If you really think about it: the reason Ren Seeks Help probably got the most attention is simply because it was the most like an actual episode of a show. The other episodes have such little content and drag on forever the fact this one episode actually has a story is what made it bait for 2013 era “angry” reviewers.
I agree. It's a terrible episode imo, but from what I've watched, it's my favorite, because at least it had a few alright jokes and a real plot as you said.
I think it would be improved if it shows Ren's anger, abusive, controlling nature is from his lack of control of things in his life. That he feels life ruins him and takes things from him and that he lashes out because of this lack of control. Perhaps as a child, dealing with a controlling abusive father, being sadistic towards animals gives him control. If this was based on John K's childhood, maybe this would explain his control freak tendencies, issues with authority and possibly his pedophilia to an extent. He wants to be the master of what he makes. He doesn't want people telling him what to do.

I honestly love videos like this. As someone who's looking to get into making cartoons myself, they're great cautionary tales of how not to run a cartoon. I take mental notes and keep those in mind.
MediaMementos did mention how animation is collaborative medium that requires compromise and the importance of working with other people. As well as how Bakshi dealt with censorship over John K. Bakshi either made jokes to draw the focus of censors or distract them during screenings of the cartoons. You may also need the input of others to make jokes funny, plots that are coherent and dialogue that works.
They should teach this in art schools. I mean, yeah, drawing fundamentals are important, sure, but what good is all that if, one you've arrived, you can lose it all with one mean tweet or because you looked at a girl's ass wrong? Young writers and cartoonists need a course on how to handle fame. Too many are falling to temptation and not to implode under the weight of their own success.
John K did some flash animation for the web in the early 00s. 2 series, one with the old man & his deformed relative & the other one was about a cat. The thing I remember the most was the eBegging, which would increase in length at the end of each episode before he stopped making the shows entirely.
I'd say Ren Seeks Help didn't really stray away from the seven stories. As it could be classified as a "tragedy" story. Ren is a character with a major flaw(that being his psychopathy) which is ultimately his undoing.
This show is probably perfect in John K's eyes, it has everything he ever wanted in the show and as extreme as possible. This is probably what he wanted Ren and Stimpy to always be, it has everything he likes cranked up to eleven: violence, gross out humour and scantily clad women. John K can't blame the network, this show is 100% John K. In other instances where complete creative control is fully given it has led to amazing work like Gremlins 2. But I think the reason why APC didn't work is because John K didn't care about story or how funny it was, I think he just wanted violence, gross out and scantily clad women.

Extra note, "Wilderness Adventure" was considered for APC but Kricfalusi would've had to give up the rights to George Liquor (for whatever reason, Nickelodeon let him keep that character). Ironically it was the first episode storyboarded for the original show after "Big House Blues".
Nickelodeon weren't fans of George Liquor in the slightest, so that's pretty much why they gave the character back to John after he was booted out (Jimmy the Idiot Boy, another of John's characters and the de-facto mascot of Spumco, was given the same treatment)... Though Liquor, years later, did make a cameo in one of the loading screens for Nicktoons MLB

Fun fact: Ralf Bakshi did some of the writing and directing for fire dogs 2 and the only episode he was included in when it came to writing, directing, and voiceover work. And another fun fact Stan Lee of marvel comics came up with stripperella which is owned by DC comics.
In a quick nutshell, APC took everything good about the original show and belabored it to death. What was once edgy became a chore. Even Carbunkle's animation and a lot of the o.g. Spumco artists couldn't save it. Sometimes I wonder if Kricfalusi hadn't gotten fired in '92 (and effectively took half the staff with him) the show would've grown stale all the same.
Kricfalusi got let go by Nickelodeon in February 1993 after finishing production of S2 entirely. The Last Episodes he worked on were "Stimpy's Fan Club", " Royal Yaksman", "Stimpy's Hairball" and "Visit To Andy's". He also voiced Ren in those 4 episodes. It wasn't failing to meet deadlines that got him fired, it was the fact that he refused to do business with Games Animation,Inc, which Nickelodeon started in order to assist Spumco. APC was over the Top because Viacom and Spike WANTED it to be. They were looking to push people's buttons. Kricfalusi told me and many of R&S' on Instagram that "We went way overboard because its what Spike TV/Viacom wanted. Naked Beach Frenzy was the only Episode that Spike had a problem with, I knew they weren't going to air it. But Kate and I and everyone at Spumco was trying to make a for Cable TV version, but Viacom said no and then cancelled us"

Whoa, Media Mementos helped Morel Orel find its way back into popular culture? That is great! I hope to one day accomplish that same Morel Orel Mementos (M.O.M.) mission for Higglytown Heroes, Dive Olly Dive and the Disney Channel Descendants trilogy, which to this day I believe to be the best live-action non-stage adaptation of classic animated Disney fairytale films.
From what you are saying it seems the people working on APC had a blast while making it. It is kinda like those really bad Adam Sandler movies that people hate but everyone involved on it had the time of their lives. This time the network gave John K. free reign to do and undo whatever he wanted and from the few clips of the featurettes with the animators (sans the female ones because reasons we already know) they pretty much enjoyed their time working on this project and Spike was not such a pain in the ass as Nick was.
Wow!!! Just wow!!! I am SOOOO glad I never watched Adult Party Cartoon!!! I remember my lil bro telling me about it, after he viewed it, & expressed his displeasure over how it went too far. That was all I needed to know to stay away from it, & boy am I glad I did!! I think this show most accurately expresses John K's incredibly warped & fucked up state of mind! I wonder if Kricfalusi inherited Bakhshi's weakness for not being able to tell longer stories. The critique of Bakhshi's writing is that he can't write long stories and his movies are often vignettes that meander. I imagine this is due to him having worked on animated shorts and not improving his weakness for not being able to handle longer narratives. With Lord of the rings being his most glaring, in this weakness. If bakshi taught kricfalusi animation, he likely taught him how to do short stories but not long narratives. This may be why adult party cartoon is dragged out, he doesn't know how to tell a story for 20+ minutes. Altruists is likely as bad as it it because he doesn't know how to tell a 45 minute story. I wonder too, if Kricfalusi, using looney tunes tex avery and three stooges for influence doesn't know how to tell longer stories. Overall it's Bakshi as Kricfalusi's teacher imparting his strengths and weaknesses as a creator and kricfalusi's being inspired by looney tunes, tex avery and three stooges makes it hard for him to tell a longer narrative.
I don't agree. Bakshi absolutely can tell a story better than John. What Ralph delivers is a fractured view of reality. I don't think his best films drag at all. John's problem is that he gets caught up in extreme distortion and thinks that nothing else matters.
@ricardocantoral7672 maybe it's fair to say that Bakshi knew how to make this work whereas John K makes things boring and dragged out. While Bakshi could show different perspectives and make an entertaining story despite it not exactly following traditional plot structures and can just go from one thing to another thing the same can't be said for John K. He didn't know how to cover for this weakness and makes thing slow, drawn out. Just to be aware that even good creators can have weaknesses.
Like Genndy Tartakovsky, as much as he knows how to create action scenes and convey story through expression and little to no dialogue, he isn't fantastic at exposition or elaborating more on stuff. He focuses on show don't tell, and that does work but doesn't always focus on more groups/individuals, history, etc. Like his Clone Wars cartoon, he gave great action scenes and some character moments but doesn't elaborate on their personalities, backstories, the different groups in the universe and their histories/backstories, and how they interact with one another. Not to say it's garbage just it being weaker in places compared to the CGI version. It doesn't delve into the separatist side, the personalities of the Jedi, what it's like to live during the clone wars, differing views on the conflict, etc. Bit it is a fantastic action piece, gives some good moments with young Anakin, and of course giving a good introduction to Grievous.
Or even better: "Happy Happy Joy Joy", a documentary about Ren and Stimpy featuring Katie, Bob Camp, a bunch of people influenced by R&S in the industry, Jack Black and even John himself at one point.

Fire Dogs 2 answered John K.'s question as to why Fire Dogs was a hit: it's _because_ it was restrained and simple, and thus ultimately forcibly yoinked from the oven before it was burnt to charcoal.

Because all of the other videos I’ve seen of this clip, the animation of the two under the bed covers running in a circle played on loop until the heart-shaped fade to red comes into play, ending the scene in the process.
I remember a drawing on his 2006 blog of 3 girls in high school uniforms with visible panties & a title something like "who are these fine b!tche5?" & he liked it so much he posted it again in another entry.
Velma is worse, both shows suck but I can’t even bear to watch Velma. I made it through each episode of APC once, some twice. APC is at least boring at best.
I think the Big Switch isn’t as much of a knock off of “Who’s stupid now?” like you imply, Who’s stupid now have Ren and Stimpy being forced to switch roles and the episode is more focused on Ren’s self esteem due to Stimpy’s popularity (Its a weird peusdo sequel to Ren’s fan club) the big switch would’ve had Stimpy pretty much act out of character just so they can have the well.. big switch, it just feels lazy and honestly kind of forced.
The only good thing about this was: -The Animation, if Ren and Stimpy came back, the animation would look like this -Eric Bauza, he did a GREAT impression of Stimpy -Ralph Bakshi also did good voice acting in Fire Dogs 2
I'm glad I wasn't alone thinking that these were freaking awful. I remembered being so excited and recording the first few episodes and bringing them to my friend's house to watch them for the first time. I was just embarrassed for the show and embarrassed for myself while watching Onward and Upward. We didn't even watch the 2nd one I recorded and I never watched another episode. It was so bad I can't even go back and watch the original show.
I feel sorry for you. I first discovered APC back in 2013 at age 12 and watched two episodes out of curiosity: "Naked Beach Frenzy" and "Stimpy's Pregnant". (As well as "Ren Seeks Help" via Mr. Enter's review in 2015) And I did not have a good time watching them at all. APC completely ruined R&S for me and is what made me begin to dislike John K. (And keep in mind, this was WAY before the allegations against him came out)
@@brycefourn2001 Yeah. It appears we're in the same boat. I was around the same age when you first saw R&S, but when the original series came out. I did catch part of an episode of the original run at some point years later and noticed there was a town with sausages for buildings and with that and something else that happened in the episode I realized that this was always part of the show and as a kid I just never noticed it. I probably wouldn't have made that connection if I never saw Onward and Upward though.
Adult party cartoon is such weird thing, It's something that young me was always super interested in but never watched any of it without any real reason as to why I wouldn't. I just didn't, and boy am I glad I didnt.

Ren & Stimpy had potential, but it was completely destroyed by the gratuitous "gross-out humor" & all the nonsensical randomness. My parents hated the gross-out humor, & even as a kid, I never liked it either. The sad thing is, Ren & Stimpy could've been as enduring as SpongeBob, but it always missed the mark (because the creators seemed a bit unhinged & were too raunchy & didn't make any of the characters particularly likeable).
You said it opposite; the gross-out and wild stories were the reasons why Ren & Stimpy had gained popularity in the first place. The real reason it failed was because John K. couldn't turn in his work in time, which ultimately made Nickelodeon decide to fire him, thus leading to the show's "gradual downfall" (although I think the later episodes improved in writing).
One of these days I might care enough to dig out that vhs recording and digitize it. BTW, watching any of those Spike TV shows was excruciating for the commercial breaks like every 3 minutes.

What would John K have in Naked Beach frenzy had it been a nickelodeon episode? I imagine there would be nudity, but would it have been censored? But would it still be the humor of ren and stimpy interacting with naked women and jokes related to penis and boobs all over the place?
I think it would have been a fairly typical "going to the beach" episode with maybe R&S working as life guards or something. Kinda like the Spongebob episodes that take place at Goo Lagoon or Muscle Beach.

Though Nickelodeon would likely have reservations about an epsiode Ren and Stimpy interacting with Naked women even if the nudity was censored. I would've done Naked Beach Frenzy in the style of Austin Powers, where there would be objects in front of the camera that would hide some of the nudity. That way, the "naked" in the title would be ironic. That could've been one way to get away with the humor and make it a little more clever. Of course, John K. doesn't know the definition of clever, so he wouldn't have done it that way.
Stimpys Pregnant was actually a quick idea Bob Camp came up with when they where pitching ideas for season 1 in the early 90s ,only a small and very basic outline was written. I've noticed a lot of misinformation in these videos
I think the idea was conceived by Bob Clamp, but the more specific details came from Annemarie’s experiences as a pregnant woman…according to John K in the DVD commentary. But as Trevor states, John K contradicts himself a lot.
@@KawikaProductions yes but the episode wasn't based/inspired by her, John just prefers to write from experience (he did the same in the original in episodes like a Visit to Anthony,Rubber Nipples Salesmen, Nurse Stimpy and more), taking real life experiences and exaggerating them is what cartoons should be about.
Really screwed up info about Stimpy’s Pregnant that you forgot to mention. When Robyn Bryd was first writing about John K in 2018, she mentioned that SP was about the time John got her pregnant and she had to get an abortion. So John is Ren and Robyn is Stimpy in that story, makes the episode far worse doesn’t it?
He didn't want to be involved with John K and saw that the scripts for APC were full on with gross out humor and were just plain bad. The upcoming reboot will likely not be as bad with the gross out humor or be as bad.

I recently found a blog post, showing a description of a scene from "Life Sucks", alongside some storyboards. Here's the description, no idea if it's official though. "Later at home, Stimpy prays to Cat Jesus (a cat crucifix on the bedroom wall). “Dear Cat Jesus, I don’t understand. I thought all the life you created was happy and wonderful, but underneath it all, there’s nothing but pain and suffering!” Cat Jesus speaks: “Well, at least I don’t feel any of it!” Stimpy mopes around the house, depressed. Ren follows him, talking about history and war, pestilence, famine, genocide and disease. Stimpy refuses to listen any more. He shoves Ren aside and plops down in front of the TV to watch his favorite show: Andy Griffith. He whistles the theme song and starts to cheer up. He especially loves Floyd the Barber and rocks back and forth with glee during all the Floyd scenes. Stimpy gets Ren back by telling him what his favorite cartoon is, and the word slices his nipple in 2." EDIT: This comment was kinda just made to give readers an easier idea of what Life Sucks could have been like.
While I am left wondering if I can see "Ren Seeks Help" being just as bad as I remember it being after experiencing the thing, I cannot stand the rest of the episodes.
I remember watching that episode, I think I was about 18 when I saw it, so about 10 or so years, anyway, it's a very messed up episode, and the ending scared the shit out of me with how ren went completely feral, and killed the horse therapist

The tragedy of this is that when executives finally did give full creative control to a studio, the result was a shambolic abomination like this. If John K had been more restrained, he could have made a new classic great cartoon. The only episodes I sort of enjoy are Fire Dogs 2 and Naked Beach Frenzy. The rest of them are unwatchable.
It wasn't that bad it just wasn't that good either and even though John K turned out to be a scumbag I'm glad that Spike TV allowed him to make the show he originally wanted to without the restrictions nick gave him being a kids network. My favorite episode is ren seeks help since you get ren's back story and a look at John K's twisted and sick mentality.
This show is the textbook definition of the phrase "What were they thinking" because given what we know know about the one of the cut episodes, it makes you wish this never existed.
It’s like if you gave post 2016 Emily Youcis a tv show. Good artwork, but terrible pacing, lack of a story, offensiveness ramped up to the extreme, etc.

Extra note, "Wilderness Adventure" was considered for APC but Kricfalusi would've had to give up the rights to George Liquor (for whatever reason, Nickelodeon let him keep that character). Ironically it was the first episode storyboarded for the original show after "Big House Blues".
Nickelodeon weren't fans of George Liquor in the slightest, so that's pretty much why they gave the character back to John after he was booted out (Jimmy the Idiot Boy, another of John's characters and the de-facto mascot of Spumco, was given the same treatment)...
Though Liquor, years later, did make a cameo in one of the loading screens for Nicktoons MLB
@@SparkzEnt Nickelodeon Banned "Man's Best Friend" while MTV picked up in 1993, but had no problem with "Dog Show" airing it once in February 1993, before banning it.
Fun fact: Ralf Bakshi did some of the writing and directing for fire dogs 2 and the only episode he was included in when it came to writing, directing, and voiceover work. And another fun fact Stan Lee of marvel comics came up with stripperella which is owned by DC comics.
In a quick nutshell, APC took everything good about the original show and belabored it to death. What was once edgy became a chore. Even Carbunkle's animation and a lot of the o.g. Spumco artists couldn't save it. Sometimes I wonder if Kricfalusi hadn't gotten fired in '92 (and effectively took half the staff with him) the show would've grown stale all the same.
Kricfalusi got let go by Nickelodeon in February 1993 after finishing production of S2 entirely. The Last Episodes he worked on were "Stimpy's Fan Club", " Royal Yaksman", "Stimpy's Hairball" and "Visit To Andy's". He also voiced Ren in those 4 episodes. It wasn't failing to meet deadlines that got him fired, it was the fact that he refused to do business with Games Animation,Inc, which Nickelodeon started in order to assist Spumco.
APC was over the Top because Viacom and Spike WANTED it to be. They were looking to push people's buttons. Kricfalusi told me and many of R&S' on Instagram that "We went way overboard because its what Spike TV/Viacom wanted. Naked Beach Frenzy was the only Episode that Spike had a problem with, I knew they weren't going to air it. But Kate and I and everyone at Spumco was trying to make a for Cable TV version, but Viacom said no and then cancelled us"

He finished production of S2 entirely yet was fired for refusing to do business with Games... ohhhhh-kay then (hint: many S2 eps were early in production when Games took over the show). And Nickelodeon/Games was going to assist Spumco by poaching as many of the staff as it could, right.

I hope to one day accomplish that same Morel Orel Mementos (M.O.M.) mission for Higglytown Heroes, Dive Olly Dive and the Disney Channel Descendants trilogy, which to this day I believe to be the best live-action non-stage adaptation of classic animated Disney fairytale films.

From what you are saying it seems the people working on APC had a blast while making it. It is kinda like those really bad Adam Sandler movies that people hate but everyone involved on it had the time of their lives. This time the network gave John K. free reign to do and undo whatever he wanted and from the few clips of the featurettes with the animators (sans the female ones because reasons we already know) they pretty much enjoyed their time working on this project and Spike was not such a pain in the ass as Nick was.

Wow!!! Just wow!!! I am SOOOO glad I never watched Adult Party Cartoon!!! I remember my lil bro telling me about it, after he viewed it, & expressed his displeasure over how it went too far. That was all I needed to know to stay away from it, & boy am I glad I did!! I think this show most accurately expresses John K's incredibly warped & fucked up state of mind! Especially considering everything that's come out about him in recent years! Wonder if anybody actually ever bought those Adult Party Cartoon DVDs??? Media Mementos, would you ever consider doing a video over Spike TV's original branding & early years, & how that was a miserable failure?? Would make for an interesting video.

Really hope you made a video about ren and stimpy History in general like the spumco and the games seasons.
I wonder if Kricfalusi inherited Bakhshi's weakness for not being able to tell longer stories. The critique of Bakhshi's writing is that he can't write long stories and his movies are often vignettes that meander. I imagine this is due to him having worked on animated shorts and not improving his weakness for not being able to handle longer narratives. With Lord of the rings being his most glaring, in this weakness.
If bakshi taught kricfalusi animation, he likely taught him how to do short stories but not long narratives. This may be why adult party cartoon is dragged out, he doesn't know how to tell a story for 20+ minutes. Altruists is likely as bad as it it because he doesn't know how to tell a 45 minute story. I wonder too, if Kricfalusi, using looney tunes tex avery and three stooges for influence doesn't know how to tell longer stories.
Overall it's Bakshi as Kricfalusi's teacher imparting his strengths and weaknesses as a creator and kricfalusi's being inspired by looney tunes, tex avery and three stooges makes it hard for him to tell a longer narrative.
I don't agree. Bakshi absolutely can tell a story better than John. What Ralph delivers is a fractured view of reality. I don't think his best films drag at all. John's problem is that he gets caught up in extreme distortion and thinks that nothing else matters.
@ricardocantoral7672 maybe it's fair to say that Bakshi knew how to make this work whereas John K makes things boring and dragged out. While Bakshi could show different perspectives and make an entertaining story despite it not exactly following traditional plot structures and can just go from one thing to another thing the same can't be said for John K. He didn't know how to cover for this weakness and makes thing slow, drawn out. Just to be aware that even good creators can have weaknesses.
Like Genndy Tartakovsky, as much as he knows how to create action scenes and convey story through expression and little to no dialogue, he isn't fantastic at exposition or elaborating more on stuff. He focuses on show don't tell, and that does work but doesn't always focus on more groups/individuals, history, etc.
Like his Clone Wars cartoon, he gave great action scenes and some character moments but doesn't elaborate on their personalities, backstories, the different groups in the universe and their histories/backstories, and how they interact with one another. Not to say it's garbage just it being weaker in places compared to the CGI version. It doesn't delve into the separatist side, the personalities of the Jedi, what it's like to live during the clone wars, differing views on the conflict, etc. Bit it is a fantastic action piece, gives some good moments with young Anakin, and of course giving a good introduction to Grievous.

I think the Big Switch isn’t as much of a knock off of “Who’s stupid now?” like you imply, Who’s stupid now have Ren and Stimpy being forced to switch roles and the episode is more focused on Ren’s self esteem due to Stimpy’s popularity (Its a weird peusdo sequel to Ren’s fan club) the big switch would’ve had Stimpy pretty much act out of character just so they can have the well.. big switch, it just feels lazy and honestly kind of forced.

The only good thing about this was:

I'm glad I wasn't alone thinking that these were freaking awful. I remembered being so excited and recording the first few episodes and bringing them to my friend's house to watch them for the first time. I was just embarrassed for the show and embarrassed for myself while watching Onward and Upward. We didn't even watch the 2nd one I recorded and I never watched another episode. It was so bad I can't even go back and watch the original show.
I feel sorry for you. I first discovered APC back in 2013 at age 12 and watched two episodes out of curiosity: "Naked Beach Frenzy" and "Stimpy's Pregnant". (As well as "Ren Seeks Help" via Mr. Enter's review in 2015) And I did not have a good time watching them at all. APC completely ruined R&S for me and is what made me begin to dislike John K. (And keep in mind, this was WAY before the allegations against him came out)
And it's also what made me stop watching the original R&S around early 2014.
@@brycefourn2001 Yeah. It appears we're in the same boat. I was around the same age when you first saw R&S, but when the original series came out. I did catch part of an episode of the original run at some point years later and noticed there was a town with sausages for buildings and with that and something else that happened in the episode I realized that this was always part of the show and as a kid I just never noticed it. I probably wouldn't have made that connection if I never saw Onward and Upward though.

Ren & Stimpy had potential, but it was completely destroyed by the gratuitous "gross-out humor" & all the nonsensical randomness. My parents hated the gross-out humor, & even as a kid, I never liked it either. The sad thing is, Ren & Stimpy could've been as enduring as SpongeBob, but it always missed the mark (because the creators seemed a bit unhinged & were too raunchy & didn't make any of the characters particularly likeable).
You said it opposite; the gross-out and wild stories were the reasons why Ren & Stimpy had gained popularity in the first place. The real reason it failed was because John K. couldn't turn in his work in time, which ultimately made Nickelodeon decide to fire him, thus leading to the show's "gradual downfall" (although I think the later episodes improved in writing).

What would John K have in Naked Beach frenzy had it been a nickelodeon episode? I imagine there would be nudity, but would it have been censored? But would it still be the humor of ren and stimpy interacting with naked women and jokes related to penis and boobs all over the place?
I think it would have been a fairly typical "going to the beach" episode with maybe R&S working as life guards or something. Kinda like the Spongebob episodes that take place at Goo Lagoon or Muscle Beach.
@@mafeuk I can see that, the two as lifeguards with the added humor of bikini girls who lose their swimsuits. No way they would show uncensored nudity. Though Nickelodeon would likely have reservations about an epsiode Ren and Stimpy interacting with Naked women even if the nudity was censored.
I also think knowing John K, he likely wanted them to be 14-15 years old, but the rest of the cast and crew likely wanted them to be 20 somethings

The thing about the original show is that the occasional adult jokes worked and it was one of the things that made it unique but in APC its just constantly the same edgy jokes with no taste.

I’m confused by Billy West comment on onward and upward being an advertisement for nambla are ren and stimpy adults i don’t get it.
I guess Billy still had the mentality that the show was aimed for kids so when he read the script full of inappropiate stuff and sexual situations he thought he was making raunchy content for children.

I would've done Naked Beach Frenzy in the style of Austin Powers, where there would be objects in front of the camera that would hide some of the nudity. That way, the "naked" in the title would be ironic. That could've been one way to get away with the humor and make it a little more clever. Of course, John K. doesn't know the definition of clever, so he wouldn't have done it that way.

Stimpys Pregnant was actually a quick idea Bob Camp came up with when they where pitching ideas for season 1 in the early 90s ,only a small and very basic outline was written. I've noticed a lot of misinformation in these videos
I think the idea was conceived by Bob Clamp, but the more specific details came from Annemarie’s experiences as a pregnant woman…according to John K in the DVD commentary. But as Trevor states, John K contradicts himself a lot.

Really screwed up info about Stimpy’s Pregnant that you forgot to mention. When Robyn Bryd was first writing about John K in 2018, she mentioned that SP was about the time John got her pregnant and she had to get an abortion. So John is Ren and Robyn is Stimpy in that story, makes the episode far worse doesn’t it?

He didn't want to be involved with John K and saw that the scripts for APC were full on with gross out humor and were just plain bad. The upcoming reboot will likely not be as bad with the gross out humor or be as bad.

I recently found a blog post, showing a description of a scene from "Life Sucks", alongside some storyboards. Here's the description, no idea if it's official though.
"Later at home, Stimpy prays to Cat Jesus (a cat crucifix on the bedroom wall). “Dear Cat Jesus, I don’t understand. I thought all the life you created was happy and wonderful, but underneath it all, there’s nothing but pain and suffering!” Cat Jesus speaks: “Well, at least I don’t feel any of it!” Stimpy mopes around the house, depressed. Ren follows him, talking about history and war, pestilence, famine, genocide and disease. Stimpy refuses to listen any more. He shoves Ren aside and plops down in front of the TV to watch his favorite show: Andy Griffith. He whistles the theme song and starts to cheer up. He especially loves Floyd the Barber and rocks back and forth with glee during all the Floyd scenes. Stimpy gets Ren back by telling him what his favorite cartoon is, and the word slices his nipple in 2."

While I am left wondering if I can see "Ren Seeks Help" being just as bad as I remember it being after experiencing the thing, I cannot stand the rest of the episodes.
I remember watching that episode, I think I was about 18 when I saw it, so about 10 or so years, anyway, it's a very messed up episode, and the ending scared the shit out of me with how ren went completely feral, and killed the horse therapist

The tragedy of this is that when executives finally did give full creative control to a studio, the result was a shambolic abomination like this. If John K had been more restrained, he could have made a new classic great cartoon. The only episodes I sort of enjoy are Fire Dogs 2 and Naked Beach Frenzy. The rest of them are unwatchable.
It wasn't that bad it just wasn't that good either and even though John K turned out to be a scumbag I'm glad that Spike TV allowed him to make the show he originally wanted to without the restrictions nick gave him being a kids network. My favorite episode is ren seeks help since you get ren's back story and a look at John K's twisted and sick mentality.

This show is the textbook definition of the phrase "What were they thinking" because given what we know know about the one of the cut episodes, it makes you wish this never existed.
It’s like if you gave post 2016 Emily Youcis a tv show. Good artwork, but terrible pacing, lack of a story, offensiveness ramped up to the extreme, etc.
