Fly Fishing for an Incredibly UNIQUE Trout!!

  • THE INFAMOUS GOLDEN RAINBOW TROUT!!
    Growing up the golden rainbow trout was always mystery. You'd see one every once in a while but rarely could you catch them. Because these fish are so easily seen they get fished for pretty hard. This usually makes them one of the more difficult fish to catch. I don't typically stock trout fish much anymore so I hadn't actually landed one of these golden rainbow trout in more than a decade. Luckily in this video I was able to site fish and catch a handful on the day.
    The actual purpose of the trip was to fish for wild brown trout, but they weren't being very cooperative. At the end of the day the browns finally turned on and we were able land a few, but the stock trout fish kept us entertained.
    Thanks for watching these videos and for the support! It means a lot.

    Hey guys I’m from western Maryland . I fish here and in northern wv panhandle and down around smoke holes. I’ve caught a bunch of big brown and rainbow trout. I know a great creek with really big native brook trout in Maryland. I’ve caught many native Brook trout over 12 inches there. I got one Brookie mounted that was 17 inches with a huge hooked jaw.

    Only recently found your channel and really enjoy it. Nice video. I stalk lots of wild browns and native brookies. Several years ago my uncle took me to wv hiking, camping, and fly fishing for wild rainbow and brook trout in wv. Wv gets a real bad wrap about water quality due to mining but I can attest being from western maryland that wv blows md away when it comes to trout fisheries. Wv has some awesome brook trout fishing. Especially in the area of the well known rocks a few rattlers there though

    • @hardmanfishing
      @hardmanfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not exactly sure where you're from... but the reason is because we have a ton of stocked trout. Stocked trout aren't nearly as interesting because they grow up in raceways and are thrown in the water specifically to catch and rarely survive. Wild trout are born and raised in the stream so catching one of them is far more of an accomplishment. Not to mention they're far prettier, fight harder, and are a lot more rare. Hope this answers your question! Thanks for watching
