I love how the animations for crashing are different depending on where your crash site actually is.
Yeah that is cool. I was really happy that there's multiple start locations, I thought that was awesome also.
Dude I didn't realise I had to scroll to start the sequence, so I left it for so long and ended up crashing in the ocean

I had no idea there were multiple crash sites. My game crashed several times and when I restarted, the site was always the same.

theres a bad glitch with kelvin, if u surround him with walls and he cant leave , “u tell him to get logs,sticks, and drop them here “ he will pick up logs and sticks from thin air and just keep doing it , fish aswell
So like he infinitely pulls them from thin air?

For anyone who didn't know, you can press middle mouse button to zoom out on the map. Took my friends and I a couple hours to figure out. Edit: thanks for the likes, I'm glad I could help some people out. Happy spelunking everyone!
Huh. That's actually incredibly helpful. I was running around just going into caves I came across randomly, at least now I can set a goal

how would that work with a controller? I've been trying different buttons on the gps but without success
edit / made it work! the gps was already used by the zoom keybind (which is the panel tactil of my ps4 controller, from what I see), so that's why it wasn't working! just had to assign the gps to another button.
I assume if you’re using a controller without an external mapping program there should be a way to look at gamepad bindings in the settings.
@@HeiroftheAbyss check your keybinds if you can, it should be listed as the tertiary action.
Farket, you don’t need to manually split each log when you build prefabs, the animation will automatically split them when you do it with a full log.
agreed it's auto, but it sure is fun... it's nice to have auto or you can do it urself :3

I haven’t been here in YEARS, but I just downloaded and started playing this game, and thought to myself, what ever happened to Farket? SO glad to see you’ve already got gameplay up! Back in my days playing The Forest I binged all your let’s play The Forest seasons and my building improved so much by it. Can’t wait to go on that journey with you again!
Lol, I had exactly the same thought.
Don't worry about the trees falling on Kelvin's head, In my first game I dropped a tree straight on his forehead and it phased right through him lol. Gave me a heart attack
- P.S. Holding C on a log/building part will remove it and place it back in your hand. Very useful to know!
One dropped on his head and it flew into the stratusphere and crashed my game, wonderful
But when he clears an area, if logs (that he cut) fall on his head, he takes damage and can be kill.
Yep C is very useful, if there's no context option to pick something up, hold C.
The cannibals hit way harder in this than the forest. It has made it quite challenging for me. Also I don't really know where to go to find good stuff to progress but I guess I'll see from your playthrough.
Dont try to mess with the tribe leaders unless you have a bow and high ground or a real ranged weapon. They tend to stunlock you and hit even on normal harder than a blue armsy on hard (60-70 damage) they have gold masks and wander around at day 5+ (and carry a big club or even a motor boat motor as weapon) so if you see them at first: Run XD (they got me more than onr time already and there is not really a melee counter without having good armor)
@@danilp8757 took like 6 shots with a pistol and 1 arrow to kill one of the big guys. They are scary as you feel far more vulnerable even though you have better gear and companions

@@sexatica yeah but every playthrough they also killed virginia when i wasnt looking and tbh its not worth protecting her against them when you risk dying yourself in the process
That's the disadvantage of playing day 1 😔

I don’t know if you just cut it out, but with birds after you kill them, you can hit their bodies 2 more times to get more feathers
I played for about 4 hours yesterday, and at least half of that time, I just walked around the forest and admired how god damn beautiful it was. Ran into a couple small bugs, but nothing earth shattering, loving the experience so far. Very happy initially.
Are you able to get decent frame rates?
@@richardcheese9152 I have an rtx 4080, ryzen 5 5600x 16 gbs ram. Playing at 3440x1440p max settings no dlss or fsr , i’m averaging 70 fps or more.
The most annoying thing for me was Kelvin not being able to traverse really easy parts, like tiny rivers and literally any type of terrain bump.
I dont think ive felt such pure fear since my original playthrough of the forest, several years later and the sequel brings back that feeling in full swing, and im loving every minute of it
Went cave diving the first time and wow it was definitely terrifying
Yea i went in the cave farket walked up to which was a very good decision that place scared the shit out of me a couple times, to the point even the damn bats started scaring me.

The only person I want to watch play any type of forest gameplay.
You can move logs after you place them by holding C. Also you can tell Kelvin to fish for you. Can't wait to see your playthrough
It feels so different because the graphics are amazing and it feels familiar because it still keeps The Forests first game main mechanics and gameplay

Farket is literally the first person I've ever heard saying they actually like Mouse Smoothing. I personally consider it spawning from the same hellpit as Mouse Acceleration, Negative Mouse Acceleration, Film Grain, and Motion Blur.
I cant use a pc without mouse acceleration lol
@@b4sh936 How? All it does is make the mouse movement inconsistent.
@@ShEsHy idk, since it comes turned on by default I have been using it since I was born, and if I turn it off I feel like the mouse doesn't respond to my movements

in fps game mouse Smoothing is a crime yes. But in game where you play Third person view that option is a much.
You can also ask Kelvin to fill storages with corresponding materials. So if you have log holder you ask him to get - logs - fill structure, will not create mess) so place like 3-4 log holders and let him work) Also you "quick" grab item from bag by holding inventory key. Adding items to quickslots is pretty much same. Only change is you only can add 2 weapon type items to the quickslots
I’ve been struggling with getting the quickslots to work.. which keys are they bound to for the back pack?
As i said. If you hold inventory open key (i for default) instead of pressing it, player will stick a backpack in front of it with items attached to it so you can click on item you want now. There is no 1 2 3 4 quickkeys like before.
Not sure if you figured this out eventually, but your book may be blurry because you turned down the resolution scaling. Glad to see you enjoying the game!
Farket press C to destroy placed logs! It’s the best way to dismantle and recover accidental placements. Love the videos!

@Eyup Tas That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I enjoyed the game. Especially because I know on full release they will likely change/heavily add to the story just like they did with the first game. It's early access and far to early to judge.

After watching your whole forest series years ago, watching this honestly feels like I'm home again
I just got the game and it’s so fun, kelvin is a big help. Also I basically beat a cannibal into submission, I kept knocking it down and then it got up and started limping over to me and then just sat there like a puppy beside the campfire with me and kelvin
So there’s a new pet system…

Me, four hours into a Farket binge.
The exctiement when you saw the Icon that you recommended for 3 Quarter Logs was genuine.
Hey farket you can chop up dead cannibals you just need to hold the attack button to do a power attack on their limbs and they should come off after a couple hits. This also works with living cannibals, I’ve chopped one’s arm off and it was still alive
Does it work on legs?
This is the only reason I got up early for school just to watch this love your videos man keep it up I know this is going to be a great game and playthrough
Kelvin is super useful but I'm not sure how I feel about him. He definitely makes life much easier.
You can just kill him if you don’t want him
So far I would MUCH prefer the log sled back over Kelvin. I can do more by myself with the log sled than he could do for me
Kelvin's combat is not that great, yet. I had him taking a break when a cannibal came to our base. He just chilling there while I'm getting bonked lol
When I play games I'm kinda role playing like I'm the character I play so an AI companion makes this infinitely more fun for me.
Btw Farket Kelvin can place items in holders like log and stick holders so you don't have a large pile of logs layer around and he can also finish and build you have like a bird house. I made him finish the bird house while I was caving.
Well, let's see if those building stress tests were good enough to stop the Farket

If you you hold the inventory button it brings the backpack up like a quick menu. I rebound my inventory to tab.

For what it's worth, I don't think trees can kill Kelvin. Or, at least, it didn't kill him during my playthrough.
He was just kinda idley wobbling around and when I chopped a tree down, he just kinda idley wandered into the tree's path; the tree directly landed on him, and the tree smooshed him into the ground, but he sprung back up from out of the ground as if it never hit him.
You can ask Kelvin to fish for you btw :3
I've been waiting for your video for hours now x) Can't wait to see more! I didn't realize there were multiple spawns, I started new after dying once and it spawned me both times in the snow. But the loot from luggage at spawn is random, and it respawns when you load the save again.
Also hold C if you want to disassemble stuff you placed.
