      Funny you should mention that because the office I work in IS a Faraday cage! We have to use bi-directional amplifiers to pipe in enough signal for our cellphones to work!

    Awesome. Your series just gave me the confidence to start on my type D box tonight! Similar condition, mine is #1189 and the serial is just a few hundred different as well. Did you use kerosene soaking to clean everything including the counter dials? I may have some other questions to post in the comments as well!

      I'm glad you're finding the series helpful! Yes, I used kerosene to soak everything including the counter dials. I'll be glad to help with any knowledge I have gleaned. I'm a newbie to the world of fare boxes myself but I've learned a lot in a few short weeks and just finished a full restoration on a D box for an actual paying customer, taking it from completely locked up and broken to smooth operation.
