Exactly. That's why in Spanish we say "she thinks she's the chickens' mother" (se cree la mamá de los pollitos) when a woman is too motherly or overprotective.
I wish we would also stop eating these masses af animals. People watch sweet animal videos and I bet some eating buckets of animal parts while that. (I mean the amount, not the fact that we eat them, we dont appreciate meat anymore, its too cheap, these poor creatures have to suffer so much)
I like how she tried to release the duckling towards the other ducks, but the duckling instantly recognizes the chicken as their mother. This proves that chickens is a far better mother than ducks.
Wtf? No. That’s not what it proves. The ducklings aren’t imprinted on those ducks. They are imprinted on the Chicken. Once Ducklings imprint on another being, they won’t leave its side. And when are any sort of distance away from their mother, they get anxious and scared. Ducklings will even imprint on humans if its the first thing they see.
My dad back when he was younger had something similar happen. A momma duck died, so he and my grandpa introduced her eggs to a hen. She looked at them and one by one, she rolled them underneath her to incubate, when presented with the last one she looked at it for a bit pausing as if asking "how much room do you think I got under here?" she took it of course. When they hatched she marched them around the barn yard rather proud! But ducklings are still ducklings one day they came to a puddle and one by one they all went in for a swim. The hen was frantic! She'd go a bit into the water after them, then run out shaking herself off before trying again quite upset. Wasn't until she threatened to leave them did the ducklings finally come out of the water.
Breakaway Bites, actually the chicken doesn't even know they're ducklings... She just knows she's been sitting on eggs and whatever hatches underneath her, her instincts is to take care of them. She thinks it's her Baby chickens but doesn't realize they aren't Chickens
@@hendrikasunqrout571 yes, they were not meant to be parents but is okay haha, it happens like that in humans but some people just have kids to then mistreat them or not even treat them at all and give them mental instability.
some chickens are like "Is anyone going to raise these eggs?" and not wait for an answer. On the other hand, my girls seem to say, "Is anyone going to eat these?" and not wait for an answer either.
The way the hen opened the gate like she was like these are my babies now. I’m going to get them by any way necessary & nothing will get in my way especially not some simple gate! Way too cute & adorable. Isn’t it something so beautiful wish the woman who birthed me was like her l’d be so much better off!
Aw, sweet little babies. Feel so bad for them. I wonder if the mom has some issues of her own, like maybe she isn't feeling well herself and so she cannot care for them properly.
Nah, the duck mum is healthy physically. Or else she wouldn't walk freely about with her other (adult) duck friends after laying her eggs. Mentioned in video that she didn't even bother to incubate her own eggs. Won't even look at them after they are hatched into ducklings. Just that I think the duck mother doesn't know how to be a mother, since her other friends doesn't seemed to have babies of their own, i.e. no other ducklings tagging them along.
those ducks don't want to do their maternal responsibilities. they only want to have fun and socialize. fortunately the hen has a mother's heart which broke first when she lost her own eggs and was mended when the ducklings hatched

That is awesome how the mama hen stepped up to raise the ducklings since the bad mama duck wouldnt. It's amazing how animals will raise other animals babies.
I read somewhere that animals abandon their kids only when they get sick, so that the kids won’t get sick. I thought what a heartbreaking sacrifice they make, only to keep their kids healthy.
I found some abandoned wild duck eggs when I was a kid . I borrowed the neighbors chicken , who was happy to sit on the eggs . I made a plastic pond too . The ducks jumped right in , and the chicken was hysterical , running around the out side , trying to save them . I took the chicken back , she was on the verge of a mental break down . As soon as the chicken was gone , I was mommy . and , I couldnt go out side with out them under foot . Even when they got big , they still wanted to be picked up , only they got bigger , try walking around with 30 lbs of ducks . Other wild ducks , would drop in and visit them , normally you cant get close to wild ducks .

yeah lets release all farm animal thats been selectively bred for produce, into the wild... what could possibly go wrong?
Even at that age, the little ducklings know who truly cares and has love for them, and who don’t! Amazing!

Some duck breeds are just notorious for being useless mothers. So their eggs are usually incubated and hand raised by farmers.
