Dear Susan i respectfully disagree with you. If you look at two scenes in this video . One where chicklets run under her legs. She steps so carefully. Second when the chiclet pokes her directly in the eye. If that was my Maine Coon. They Would be Dead lol
Faizan Mckagan I have to disagree with you and agree with Susan. The cat yes didn’t hurt them but other than fighting the cat and breaking up the fight of the roosters is the only active protection the cat did. The cat being over protective would be like him not letting anyone near the chickens or keeps hoarding them to one spot. Cat just seemed very friendly to his friends more than over protective.
Not really; cats communally raise kittens and chickens, though to a lesser degree, kind of foist egg-sitting duties onto chickens lower in the pecking order so there's some degree of compatibility in their instincts and cats chase things based on their relative size rather then any particular preference for birds and rodents; if anything it's a surprise that the hens don't harm the cat since their fights for dominance tend to be a lot more extreme then the ones that cats have.

I had a female cat that had stillborn kittens. It's maternal instinct was so strong that it would catch wild animals in order to mother them. It brought home rats, a hare, a rabbit, a pukeko ( a swamp hen endemic to New Zealand ) and even a weasel. She was happy when my brother got a couple of guinea pigs that she could mother.
@@angelmartin7310 We fed some of them and found good places to release them. The hare left on it's own, and we found a nice pond in a swamp that looked like one of Monet's paintings of lilly ponds for the Pukeko after it had grown on a diet of garden snails, but the weasel was hard to relocate. We couldn't catch it. Every time it made a getaway the cat would bring it back.
My cat started doing this! Shes a KILLER. She brings home squirrels and other large rodents almost daily yet she protects our chickens I was so shocked to find this out.
Yea we have a huge male stray that would hunt bunnies all the time but when we took him in he loves are 3 bunnies and likes to sit next to them and just spend time with them in general but he still hunts and brings back wild rabbits
So sweet.... We used to have a stray that camped out under our chicken coop, and eventually we were able to put him up in the coop at night to keep warm and watch over them. He was the sweetest guy, did the same with kittens for some other strays until we found everyone a home
I was laughing when the cat was stepping on the chicks and stumbling around trying not to hurt them because that’s how I look trying not to step on my cat lol
What a sweet chicken guardian she is. She's basically the mom of the group who is loving, but at the same time you don't want to make her mad. I busted a gut when she seemed to scold the other two chickens for fighting.😆
Those were both roosters and they were probably fighting for the top spot in the pecking order. They're LOUD little bastards when they fight, and there's usually a lot of screaming, wing slaps, and trying to rake each other with their spurs. The cat probably didn't like all the noise and it looks like she went after the one who started the fight. I'm just surprised the other roo didn't do the little wing dance.

What a cool cat!! It’s amazing how some animals become protective over other different animals, this is about as cool as the leopard that a cow allowed to suckle when it was a cub that lost its mother, the leopard would sneak into the village at night to visit and snuggle with the cow at night. Once discovered the leopard was trapped and relocated , but it made the trip back to that village one last time , like it knew it couldn’t keep coming after being moved so it came one last time and spent one last night with its adoptive cow mother to say goodbye. Simply amazing!
Our Chickens were adopted by a stray cat who was fascinated by them. We started feeding the little stray and she accepted us as family. She is very protective of our Chickens. She’s chased off Birds, dogs and other cats. The chickens sometimes tease her but she still loves and protects them. 💕
Honestly tho how lucky is this man? He has free protection for his chickens, GOOD protection, and he literally had to do NOTHING. Some people try to get dogs to train to protect and they are STILL scared of foxes, I've seen it, but this girl would probably fight to the death. Doesnt even let the chickens fight each other. Reminds me of how Frogs and Tarantulas, normally natural enemies, will sometimes live together and help each other survive. It's hard to tell where instincts start and end for a lot of animals.
Your info is a bit wrong, only a certain small frog known as Chiasmocleis ventrimaculata lives with the tarantula in the burrow to protect the tarantula eggs from tiny enemies that the tarantula can’t fight off. While the tarantula protects the frog from big enemies.
Although these hens are going to be killed, unlike most commercial hen farms, these hens are having a happy life before their death. Thanks for giving them good living conditions!!
It would be preferable if they weren't killed at all, living well isn't a justification when you slaughter them anyway. Unless you live in the wild, disconnected from civilization, there is just no need to keep livestock in this time and age, it's an old, primitive and outdated concept.
@painttrees Conditions are irrelevant if you're going to murder the animal anyway, you're taking away animal's right to live for the sake of your own taste buds.
@painttrees Unfortunately meat consumption in any form isn't sustainable given the world's population, and it will only grow. So the world will indeed have to go fully plant based over an extended period of time, or we will face planet wide calamities, starvation and water shortage, which is a side effect of animal agriculture as whole, will be the least of our concerns, though it's already in early stages. And again, if you're forcefully taking an animal's life needlessly, conditions it lives in mean nothing, it's just a delusion, one commonly spread by meat industry's propaganda.
@painttrees I couldn't care less, and so would any rationally thinking individual, how the animal lives if the life is going to be taken by us needlessly anyway. Conditions would only matter if the animals lived their natural lives, free from our enslavement. To be logically consistent you need to apply the same to humans, as in, do you honeslty believe that a person would care about how they live, knowing you're going to slit their throat anyway, at a fraction of his/her lifespan? Before you throw ''animals are not humans'' argument, no, they are not, but their lives, the right to live is no less valuable than ours, they are sentient, intelligent and capable of expressing emotion. Secondly, vegan farming, as well vertical farming, where you don't even need outside land to grow food. Other than that, people will be forced to go plant based if we stay on current path, not by human hand, but the world itself as resources dwindle and plants will be the last food source remaining. It's inevitable, and we are talking decades at best, not centuries or more.
I'm kinda late, but we've had some new cats in the neighbourhood and they've been stalking our chickens, but our next-door neighbour's cats been guarding them, he literally sits near them and just glares at the other ones or tries to scare them off, it's kinda cool, he's never actually tried to attack them and just sunbakes with them, it's cute :)

Your info is a bit wrong, only a certain small frog known as Chiasmocleis ventrimaculata lives with the tarantula in the burrow to protect the tarantula eggs from tiny enemies that the tarantula can’t fight off. While the tarantula protects the frog from big enemies.

Кошке действительно уютно ,и в этом заслуга людей которые ухаживают за этими животными,Это Ваш общий уютный дом.
@@Kristers_K You’re right :(
@painttrees Conditions are irrelevant if you're going to murder the animal anyway, you're taking away animal's right to live for the sake of your own taste buds.
This cat's face says everything.. she's very protective and a very smart cat! beautiful video! 💕 👍
