in 83 Culture Club, The Police, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Dire Straights, Dragon, Elton John, Toto, Laura Baningan, Irene Cara....bring back memories? These were the 'top of the pops' in Australia at the time Violent Femmes would have been doing this concert...huge contrast in style. I was only a 9yo, didnt get into femmes til the '90's myself

    • @moretoknow9834
      @moretoknow9834 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Violent Femnes were hugely popular in Australia in the 80s. Cool people / true music lovers don't listen to popular music from the radio much, they buy vinyl albums and 45s as a way to check out bands, share the good ones, repeat. Also go to concerts in pubs etc That's how we did it and the Femmes were huge in Oz.

Only truly great bands can perform live and sound just as good if not better than their studio album recordings. Note for note brilliance performed for the live audience, how lucky the crowd were to witness them so early in 1983, they were so unique and instrumentally inventive. I would have loved to see them then, but at 3 y/old I was a little too young for the admission ;)

It was a culty following. For sure about a decade ahead of their time. They got real popular in the 90s again. Thats when i found them because it was my older sisters angsty cool kid music. Im noticing people mentioning them again. Theyre very relateable and thats why they experience the resurgences they do.

T-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-time, time, time, time, time (hazlo todo el tiempo)
    Hazlo todo el tiempo

It's funny that Manchester had no idea what to make of Milwaukee.

@@nazzurro Being from Manchester myself, I’m upset they weren’t more popular. My dad said he saw them at the Hacienda and they fucking rocked

Back when music was real. We drove around just to drive, smoked too much really bad weed out of a punctured soda can, took pills you had to order out the back of a magazine, and ate cold goulash out of the fridge with a dirty spoon. We suffered under the illusion of invincibility and thought better things were just around the corner. The disappointment seems about right.

One of the tightest live performances I’ve seen. That were on it that night, great stuff.
