good bit of filming by the person with the camera.always buzz when i see the helicopter then it brings me back to earth by knowing they are their because someone is in desperate need of care. thanks for yous being whom you are
Love it when the air ambulance lands in my area u know when it's about cos of its destinct sound vrry skilled pilot to land and take off in that small space
Well done for the Vid!...Good quality! next time maybe a Cannes film Award!...Keep that camera with you! You never know what you might catch next time!...
One of these landings - on a damned small space, on top of that between trees near the rotor blades (btw. the 1st time I see the rotor with 5 blades on the newest generation -Eurocopter- McDonnell Douglas in action) - which deserves huge respect for the skills of these pilots.
Wouldn’t get the AW169 that most Air Ambulances are changing to in there. Seems a retrograde step to go large with the only possible motive being that ex-military pilots who will have had a lot of experience on the AW169 in the forces can walk straight into a job with the Air Ambulance. A case of the old boys network taking priority over operational requirements.
McDonnell Douglas Explorer with the NOTAR system. NOTAR means No Tail Rotor which is useful for tight situations where a tail rotor could strike a object and destroy the helicopter. Instead it's a ducted fan.
They can, but the primary purpose is to get a trauma doctor to the patient as fast as possible, who will usually then be transported by ground vehicle to an appropriate hospital
Its called a NOTAR. NO TAil Rotor. Instead it directs a beam of air out the rear cone which rotate . You can see the grass getting hit by it @ 3:39. Its very safe for ground crew. The worst that could happen is you get hit with a lot of air instead of being chopped up by the rotor.
Francis Suemith It was patently clear to everybody but you ! They even have it written on the door for people like you but I guess sometimes that is not enough.

Play the theme tune to Airwolf in the background whilst watching this ... and it takes it to a _whole_ nother level of epic!! :D
Very neat takeoff , Great skilled pilots!
Theseboys dont pissabout.
Some nice flying skills there by aircrew, looks like a fairly confined area to land and launch from.
Really excellent video, lovely quality too.
Very well parked. Looks tight as a ducks butt there.
Wtf
Amazing video that is a tight spot to land and to take off from. my hat goes off the the pilot WOW...

Amazing where they can drop those helicopters into. It’s nice to know they’re out there should we ever need them. Fly safely all of you.🇬🇧
Awesome Footage!!! Lucky sod!!!
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
NOTAR!!!!! (No Tail Rotor)
there is a fan in the rear of the machine instead.
@@richardpearson58 Exhaust exit through tail port to prevent rotation

London air ambulance are getting new Airbus H135
Nice. Any ideas why it has. Irgin on the side?
Yes Virgin Was the sponsor of the london air ambulance
Badger emergency responses ... Any idea why you can’t spell ?
I did not notice Irgin on it.
I see Virgin,
Virgin sponsored London’s Air Ambulance until 2012, after sponsorship ended they changed the livery to one that’s a lot better
Badger emergency responses it’s the sponsor virgin is a uk tv and broadband company :)
Hey everyone, that helicopter is a virgin, maybe it hasn't met the right helicopter yet. Your thoughts?
With a tail configuration like that ? Naw, it's lying.
nah with a tail like that. it can have any helicopter it wants
gary63693 What if it has a airliner or fighter jet fetish ? Could be lusting after a completely non helicopter mate.
gary63693 I know of a UH-1 that fell for a A-10 tank buster and they mated producing a baby AH-64
awww that is sooo cute, hope they are happy together
Definitely wow
HAW! I'm on the nightshift!
What make of helicopter?
Sorry I don't know the make

MD 902 Explorer.
Facebook.comhy does the pilot stamd at the front of the aircraft for a while?
lightsout the co-pilot watches to check everything is in working order
Not sure which impresses me more…the tiny spot they parked it in, or the stupidity of the people walking up to it while it was running….
Muito legal!
so they don't transport the patients?
They can, but the primary purpose is to get a trauma doctor to the patient as fast as possible, who will usually then be transported by ground vehicle to an appropriate hospital

vwbeetleb0b it also means that in London they don’t have to think about tail rotor strikes if landing in small areas
JW93Emergency
......in other words, that pipe sticking out the back has little function?
South West not at all, it has huge bearing on the direction of the aircraft.
