I don't really understand the need to have the NISMO GTR as the base car for the HKS Nissan R35 GTR if literally, everything is going to be replaced on it. Would it not make more sense to start with a base Nissan GTR and then upgrade from there?

Let’s not forget, all suspension components are different from any non ///M cars. ///M suspensions are more track oriented!! 👍🏻
