- An absolutely massive show this year with the spectator turnout this year feeling like more than ever and seemingly endless cars on display of all varieties. I tried to highlight all the cars that interest me, are relevant to the channel, and embody what I love about this industry and hobby. I hope you enjoy!

Thanks for watching! Glad you caught that. There was one at the both ends of the spectrum for you. OEM performance style or B16 swapped and all out build. There might have been as many or more Rover Mini's than s-chassis at the show. haha
Very entertaining video and thanks for stopping at the Kinokuni booth and hope to talk with again next year. The white low down Hiyabusa powered drag car was made by students of a Technical School just South of Tokyo. Had a couple of minutes to chat with the teacher and his students who were hoping to run low 10's. The old name for Wakayama was Kinokuni (started to change name around 1870) which means country of trees as they were exporting lumber from the large forests which are still abundant.
Good talking to you too and learning more about Kinokuni! I'm sure I'll be putting in an order before long for some Aerocatch's as I get ready to install this FRP hood on the DC2. And oh my goodness, what a wild build! It looked nutty as I walked by but that's some serious speed they're hoping to achieve. I love how all the tech schools build wild stuff for Auto Salon - always fun to see.

Finally nice to see someone reveal Mad Mikes car! I’ve been looking for that
I was looking for it all show but Toyo had it tucked away all the way at the back wall. I wish it would have been presented more front and center with better access to get a good look at it. Such a neat build; kind of a shame it was in a dark area off to the side.
I definitely miss the JDM scene. I wish I could get some 90s Civic or Integra but they're so expensive
I hear you. You could be like me and buy a really haggard Integra and then spend wayyy too much time and money trying to fix it up...or buy a Honda Fit. haha. From talking to others who have driven both, it seems like they capture the Honda magic in a much more affordable platform. Good luck in your search - hope you find a deal!

I'm with you. When I think I've settled on one front end being my favorite, I see a sick car with the other and am reminded how good they can look either way.
I had the same thought. I just watched a DC2 Mugen wing of that variety sell on Yahoo Auctions for ¥600,000+ the other day! Totally wild market for old Mugen stuff.

Thank you! I had the exact same thoughts about the Group B naming. Maybe there's some history I don't understand, but recently I've seen multiple companies use naming that's the same or similar to something else incredibly popular if not more famous. I don't get it.

@@gregmartin7470 I had that same impression. Lots of variety. I think the new Z and GR86 really dominated the show the past couple years, but this year makers were kind of just doing their thing with what was relevant to them.

Sorry, no. Not time left in the day...and my legs were dead. Haha. It was dark and raining when I left. Always good stuff in event parking lots.
You should check the parking lot for cars, im led to believe the cars in the car park is as good as the show

Thanks for the videos, so nice to have this content!! Are there any Corvette cars? Do you have any desire to cover the off road and vans? They are super popular here.
There might have been other Corvettes at the show, but the orange Forte C8 was the only one I noticed. I see a C8 driving around every once in a while and the older models are pretty rare but around.
I think vans and off road stuff is neat, but it's a bit outside of the channel's focus. Now knowing how the algorithm works better, they would honestly perform better on separate channels. They're all three totally different segments without much overlap in audience interest.

Pretty Sure the car/frame you were looking at around 40:30 is a copy or mini version of the now made Mazda 787D (Madmikes New Drift Car)
I think it's the same frame. I'm pretty sure I saw a post by Mike saying TRA Kyoto made the base for his 787D. This one was made by TRA Kyoto as well. Seems like they might be trying to produce a kit car type system. Mike's was the reveal and this is the core kit. Just speculation, but it's built in "fit on a pallet" size pieces.

Open to the public which is what makes it pretty special. Only Friday until like 2pm is for industry people only.

if you are gonna talk about the car you should at lest know a thing or two... "dc1"???? Lmfao
In the Japanese market, there's a DC1 chassis code. Most notable of these is the Super Style which has the ZC engine but all the interior and exterior trimmings of a Type R (more of less). It might vary depending on your area of the world but in Japan there was a DC1. Here's a bit on it: cars.japanesecartrade.com/detail/honda/integra/super-style/159294
Theres such thing as "whats said" and "whats actual", Nobody in the industry has EVER called them a DC1 until you did just there.
For another example, The GC chassis. We in America call it the GC even though it never was here. But alas, that is the industry standard. Such as the 22b...Widely considered a GC8 even though its a 2 door model.. and not a "GC"...
@@crisnmaryfam7344 Instead of just saying, "oh I've never heard of a DC1. I didn't realize that was a thing." and moving on you're going to double down by saying "we just call them DC2's." What kind of logic is that?
Maybe you didn't understand the context of the situation when I spotted the car? At first I thought it was a DC2, but then I saw the sunroof and low rear wing while still having the OEM option aero bits...which led me to believe it could be a DC1 Super Style...since we are here in Japan and that's a possibility. Then I realized it was a USDM car which was why I was like, "oh it's an Acura blah blah." I didn't say, "this is indeed a DC1!"
Honda chassis codes designate spec - not just chassis style. A DC1 is a 2door hatch. A DC2 is a 2 door hatch. But they have different engine/trim packages. Nissan chassis codes, for example, don't designate spec so a S14 is a S14, doesn't matter if it's turbo or not turbo, it's still a S14. Should I call a GSR a Type R? They're both DC2's after all so they're the same thing, right? No, the name designates spec just like DC1 vs DC2.
So yes, while I was wondering what it was, me saying, "Is it a DC1?" is totally realistic.
