Look into spraying on the sealer in the future. In South Florida we have big issues with rolling on sealer as it becomes thicker in other areas as well as trapping moisture underneath which can lead to white/milky spots. Penetrating sealers allow for the material to breathe as well as giving the concrete or pavers a nice satin finish while also being non slip.
Always great to hear from you and thanks for taking the time to say hi! That's awesome you are going to build something similar in the future. Looking forward to seeing it! Cheers!
Hey Jorgy! haha thanks man, yeah I've played with a few outros, that was a favorite though! Thanks for taking the time to say hi and great to hear from ya!
Great Project. I saw one a while back where someone ran an air duct under the concrete to the north west (wind always comes from that direction). It allowed him to have a rocket stove effect to keep smoke to a min (and straight up).
Looks fantastic, the cutting the lines to match the Cardinal directions is a pretty cool idea. Dropping some bronze metal letters as indicators would've been epic. Great job.
Hey Tom! Thanks man, yeah I got the idea from some friends, and since building ours we've helped a few other family friends do similar patios. One we even built a pergola around. Definitely a fun project that gets a lot of use. Cheers!
With having the pit dug down in the middle of the concrete, have you noticed any destroying of the concrete like cracking or anything because it's getting hot and distributing the heat differently?
Another great project! I want to build something like this at my place too. I've been looking at adding a fresh air source for the fire and some smoke free designs for the fire pit.
Awesome stuff Pete! The only other thing I was expecting was running a conduit under the pad in case you wanted to convert to LP or gas at some point down the road. Not necessary if you know you prefer a natural fire though!
Hey Matt! Thanks so much man and great idea on running a line in case! This one we wanted to stick with wood burning, but I think we are going to be building a new gas fireplace to go on the deck :) For the nights we want some heat but not the smell of campfire. Thanks for taking the time to say hi and drop a note, cheers!
PETE! I found your DIY ski rack on your website but the link is broken for the free plans and tutorial. Is there any other way I could access those plans?
thanks! haha we have wood up on the deck and then by the shed so not too far :) I usually just bring a bundle over on nights when we do a fire, but might build a small firewood holder that could also serve as an end table. we'll see! Thank for the idea!
Hi! It is the average smoke of a typical campfire, but the rink is nice and large and air easily flows in and out of the fire. There are certainly ways to make it more smokeless though!
I like that the driver lent a hand at the final pour bit.
Thanks for watching! Yeah it was awesome he volunteered to give us a hand, definitely was very helpful! Have a great day!
Lovely

Really fantastic work, Pete! It turned out amazing indeed! 😃
Some day I'm going to build one as well!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

I miss the 'cheers from Montana ' at the end of your videos. Fire pit looks great!

Really cool idea!
Pete, you have one of the nicest pieces of property I have ever seen. It would be awesome to live there. Great job.
Thanks for watching! Cheers!

Thanks! And that bronze metal letter idea is great!
That is such a cool project idea

Love the fireplace but I was watching your video on the Eufy cameras how did the battery hold up in the cold deep winter weather . ?? Thanks

Would you mind telling me what stain and sealer you used? I need to know what to buy.
Definitely referencing your video for a future build. How close is the wood storage though lol.

Ice trail from the rink to the fire pit?
Boa tarde meu amigo, gostaria de ser meu sócio no Brasil?
obrigado por assistir e espero que esteja tudo bem no Brasil!
Does this design create a lot of smoke?😊

@@DIYPETE thanks. Recently bit the bullet and purchased a breoo firepit with stone surround.. my diy firepit was way to smoky for us.
Nice! Yeah we have a solo stove on our deck and the minimal smoke from it is great, similar to your breoo i'm sure!
