I moved into the totally unfinished family home built by my dad the year I was 7. I went to bed and woke up to the music of saws cutting through wood and hammering. He was still working on the house when I left home for nurses training 11 years later. The sounds of the work and the work ethic of these men is so beautiful! Thank you Dan! 6:02 6:05

When I was 13 years old I worked for a builder in Bolsover Derbyshire, it was a Saturday job and he took me out and about to estimate and quantity survey the next weeks work, he gave me a nail and a length of skirting board to write the list of materials he would need for the Monday morning, we would then drop that off at the building suppliers in Bolsover so the materials could be collected Monday morning. I remember well trying to write the list with a nail on a piece of skirting board. You have a pencil think yourself lucky😊

I look for this update every day and have since the start. It’s gotten me through some seriously hard times and I plan to see it to the end. I imagine the people living in the area have the same feelings as the roof line gets higher.

a previous video (first roof section) showed that the hole drilled on each joining part was slightly off so that the pegs tightened them up when hammered in. simple and very effective.

So inspiring. At the end of the first year I thought he was almost done because I didn't realize he was only working on one quarter of the house. When I saw the rest of the project I thought he would be at this for the rest of his life. I'm so glad he got help and support, it's made a big difference. But in the end it's his project and he persistently plugs away day after day. I watch these videos as soon as they drop. It's very uplifting.

You should go back to the very beginning. Back when Dan was fixing his and Annalises home. I thank God that he is way safer than back then. I worried about him especially when he was getting the roof tiles from the barn. Dan has no fear. Thank God his team, especially Nick is helping him be more careful.

I remember when the local college built a new indoor sports arena with a dome roof, and right across the street, they built an art museum, with a teepee shaped roof. They sheathed both roofs in copper, and it was a beautiful sight for the first year or so, when the copper was still shiny. We used to joke about the "teepee and the green pea," as we anticipated the copper would oxidize pale green. Instead, the copper oxidized to a pleasant dark brown. It was most impressive, though, when it was new and shiny!
