Perpectives of a fabulous Phal bloming wall, once more. They look wonderful, Eelke. Mine are later than everyone else, as usual. My autumn days and nights are usually warmer until December, maybe that is why I end up having standard types in bloom all through summer, way after the so called summer bloomers have finished blooming 😂😂
Thank you so much, and I do think that is the reason why yours do bloom later than the rest. They really need a bit of 'cool down' during night. But yours should be longer in bloom during summer I guess, I hope! :D I really enjoy the Phals! Thank you for watching and happy growing!
Looots of promising flower spikes! 😍There will be a another great show of 🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸 ,yay !! Love 😍 the look of the shiny new 🍃 on your Phal.orchid. One of my new Cattleya hybrid ( oct. 2022 purchase) hasn't bloomed ,yet .... has shiny pseudobulbs! 😯😍. I haven't seen such a thing before. I find it fascinating. Just noticing simple beauty of the plant can be so enjoyable. I'm weird ...I know! 🤫😁. Take care ,Eelke.
Well in that case, WE are weird LOL... haha I total understand what you mean! I love it! :D And shiny bulbs are the best, right? :D And new roots, bigger new leaves. :D
I'm definitely gonna get that yaphon deep coffee ☕️. Smell is very important for me. To look at those adult versions of stuartiana and philippinense *sigh *... sooo jealous 😂. Great video as always 👍.
You should! That fragrance is fantastic. :D And yes they are starting to get some size to them. It does take a few years before the leaves really start to get bigger. For me it is about two years now. But worth the wait! :D And I am so happy the Alkmaar is doing so good in your home! :D it is happy!
Hi! EJ wish the best for this year..🎉❤ Well are cutting spikes from phals after blooming? or let them decide???cause there is a controversy, either you cut or not...due to the great energy the orchid needs to spike in first place...so keeping the old spikes we keep the chance to bloom again nd have more blooms and spikes...Others believe that spikes should be cut at the end of the season so orchids put the energy in growing roots and leaves and give more spikes and flowers next season...Hope i make sence😊 What do you think??
Yes it does make sense! Good questions. For me it's simple. If the Phal (or any other orchid) is healthy with a good root system, I leave the old spikes on. Some do re-bloom on those spikes and some save them, and some start "eating" them (taking the energy back in to the plant). If a spike is brown and woody I take them off. But, for Phals that do not so well, do not have many roots or leaves. I might take them off so that they do not bloom on that spike anymore. I might take a part off (blooming part) so that the orchid does have time to take some energy back from that spike. Orchids do store energy in the spikes so that's why I like them to get that energy back first before I cut them off. Especially with those that are not that strong (yet). I hope this helps? Thanks! :D
@@TheOrchidSaGa I have them on a sun porch. I put a mister there to raise the humidity, and a heater to raise the temp to 82...usually 71...it's been cloudy a lot. Try a grow light?
@@007trudig I saw that Nina did a video on your question. I would look into the temperature and maybe the light. If they still grow and look well you probably will be ok with the light but you need a drop in temp. during day and night. And at least for a couple of weeks. Good luck!
I found big clear pots at a company called Mister Pop (pots for popcorn and cotton candy) let's hope they can sell me a couple instead of a pallet full 🤣waiting for a reply on the email
Maybe they will sell them, but I did found the site again where I did buy the buckets for my Phals! You do not need to buy them in bulk. Here is the link: www.jerrycanshop.nl/nl/5-liter-emmer-met-deksel-rond-transparant.html
Lots of spikes. Can't wait to see all the blooms.
Me too! Thank you for watching!
I'm in Spike and Bloom, heaven! So many beauties! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! :D
It's going to be another beautiful show of phals.
Thanks, I am looking forward to the blooms too! :D

Mottled leaves (met vlekjes) mean a warm to hot growing Phal. Green leaves mean a cooler growing (same goes for Paphiopedilum)
Yes, I know, you are right but somehow my other mottled leafed Phals do not lose their roots...
@@TheOrchidSaGa It is said it is a difficult one to grow 😁

I have 80 phals. No blooms, 3 are spiking. Blast and damn.
O that's so sad, Do you know why they will not bloom? And 80 sounds like a beautiful collection! :D

Why is there an empty pot next to the first one you showed? You might have to go shopping.
LOl, that's for the drips, my roof is leaking sometimes. That's all, but nice feeling, having room for more plants! :P
