The only 2 DRS zones in Hungary are packed together and short t the start of the lap, and the rest of the track has no drs and the corners provide little opportunity to overtake especially if you’ve got someone ahead who is defending for their life. Qatar, meanwhile, has 1nice, juicy DRS zone that are spread out across the lap. The corners are quite high speed with little heavy braking zones, but the DRS makes up for that by sending cars wheel to wheel into these corners, out of which the quicker car on better tyres will come out victorious.

This is exactly the reason, Mercedes wanted to keep track position over Max in Abu dhabi 2021. Mercedes pit wall knew that Lewis would find it next to impossible to pass Max in the remaining lap or 2.

Not really, they made the decision because in every other modern race in F1 history the final lap would have been finished behind the saftey car.

@@RANDOMZBOSSMAN1If the title battle was finished behind a safety car I'm sure that the result could have been worse for the championship and the sport (i mean,look at Monza 2022, that was a disgrace, that could have been the final result of a full season battle).
I still defend that Mercedes lost that title fight for Lewis, the pit crew did an amazing pitstop and Lewis a perfect stint,but with the pace he had, they should have stopped him during the Giovinazzi VSC (and people seems to forget that VSC).

He barely touched him, the cars weren't damaged. Strong but fair defense. Unlike Verstappen that just decides to change his line during braking, Alonso knows how to put up a fight without crashing.
