I've watched many many NextCloud on Ubuntu installs. Confused the F out of me with lines of commands and reinstall after reinstall until I found your video. I tried following another Swiss techie videos and almost gave up. Amazingly simple and many thanks to you.
Thank you so so much. I had so much frustration on other videos on how to install next cloud on my computer, and because of your tutorial, I was finally after giving up for a while, able to install next cloud. What I did do though, was updated both the virtual box and Ubuntu server to the latest versions and configure the settings with virtual box to the iso that I downloaded which was Ubuntu server, and cleaned my pic out with an app called “bleach bit”, reset my laptop since I had too much junk applications, I did not factory restored my pc, and after that I re downloaded everything and followed your tutorial and was successful. So if you were or are in my shoes, follow this tutorial and also my steps, and you should be fine. If resetting your computer doesn’t do the trick and you don’t mind resetting or restoring your computer, clean your pc first, back up any important files, docs, or images, and try that and then try again. It worked for me. Good luck everyone! :) Great Video 🙏
I am new to both Ubuntu and Nextcloud. Your presentation was clear and precise. Much appreciated. I would like to see a tutorial on setting up external storage on additional hard drives in the PC.
I did everything… logged on my ubuntu and when i typed the IP on my computer next to me (connected to the same network) i dont see nothing .. just “site cant be reached”
Ich kann kein Englisch Deswegen meine Frage auf Deutsch: Was ist der unterschied zwischen dieser Installation der Nextcloud und der Installation von Nextcloud nach der Ubuntu installation?
With Linux you’re embracing open source software and a great community. If you have passion for computers in general, learning Linux is a lot of fun and in some cases can also open new possibilities professionally.
Ermanno you have a great gift for instruction. Love your videos I have learned a lot. Someday I'm going to try Arch. I installed nextcloud on an old computer and just want it to use it on my LAN. I don't want to connect to it from the outside world, just use it at home. My question is, do I have to install a ssl certificate?
How do I properly mount more drives? I have a boot drive and 2 storage drives but Nextcloud only shows the boot drive for storage. Is that something I have to do during the Ubuntu install or can I do it after ?
Hello thanks for the awesome video, just to let you know that command for adding an additional trusted domain don’t work. That that works is : sudo snap run nextcloud.occ config:system:set trusted_domains 1 -value= your domain Hope it helps someone. And than can check the add domain with your comand
Boss please I need help when I follow your instructions and install the nextcloud let's encrypt doesn't allow get the certificates. It always doesn't work. How do I make this work
This is great! I have nextcloud running on Ubuntu Nextcloud appliance and have bought a new machine to run it on instead, do you know an easy way to migrate all my photos over to the new machine?? I'm struggling to find out how to do it!
For this particular step, will I be able to connect to my Nextcloud from the outside local network?? For example, I have my Ubuntu Server running for 24/7 at my home and I want to transfer some files from my school to my Nextcloud inside my Ubuntu Server. Can I do that too??
Hello sir I have a problem with cockpit when I put the identifiers it tells me bad username or password I already did several times and I'm sure it's the right ones because it works on the terminal, do you have an idea of what can happen? Please, and thanks a lot for your work
Great video! I would love to have seen you change the storage/data directory to another location (preferably a large USB external drive) as many people would prefer to save their data to a location that isn't on the same drive as their operating system. I've attempted this many times without success and really cannot find the reason why.
Thank you for your help. I installed it successfully according to your debian10 method, but I have a problem. I want to open https, and use domain name access, and SSL certificate service. How do I import the certificate? I already have a domain name service provider for The certificate I provided, how do I import it? what should I do? How can I contact you? This problem has bothered me for 2 months and I am very troubled
I am using debian10 system. What is wrong? Can you send me the modified directory and the commands that need to be filled in? I am very worried about an error.
Basically you can host your own data (cloud) so big brother or some corporate entity doesn't have access to your personal info. Some compare it to Google drive or icloud, however the interface is most similar to Dropbox but it has a lot more features than dropbox.
please fix "sudo nextclould.occ config:system:get trusted_domains 1 --value=your.domain" with "sudo nextclould.occ config:system:set trusted_domains 1 --value=your.domain" the misspell with get instead of set cost me few hours to figure out. Otherwise good job.
This was a vey good instruction and worked well. But I encountered immediate problems: I couldn't load a network and timed out on "Waiting for Network configuration " apparently a common problem and a bit difficult to fix. But I fixed it. Then my trusted domain changed itself to some domain other than the nextcloud domain and could not be accessed on the PC. That led to me trying your instruction to add a trusted domain to which my terminal gave a message the command didn't exist. That led me to the nextcloud advice of adding a trusted domain. That terminal command simply failed. "No file or directory" under nano. That led me to advice to install Apache2. It installed but couldn't bring up a domain as advised. That led me to advice to install PHP. It also installed but couldn't bring up a domain as advised. Having those installed as recommended still left the nano command to add a trusted domain as "No file or directory". So all in 2 days Ubuntu failed to be able to boot properly (apparently a common fault) and changed the trusted domain to something that didn't exist resulting in no access. Am I impressed with Ubuntu Server? No. Am I impressed with Linux? No. Am I impressed with Nextcloud? No.

Hi Stacy! Thanks for the feedback and I am glad it worked!
@@eflinux Yeah, the only thing I want to do is make my IP secured, I just don’t have a domain.
You can use something like CloudDNS for that. I have a video on the channel on how to set it up as well as an SSL certificate.
Good tutorial. I had mine up and running right away! The instructions you gave made it super easy.
I am new to both Ubuntu and Nextcloud. Your presentation was clear and precise. Much appreciated. I would like to see a tutorial on setting up external storage on additional hard drives in the PC.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Excelent video. Super clear and useful. Next a video on how to add external drives to next cloud :D

Sir u're a great teacher ☺️ . I have a doubt ! that what is the use of learning linux and why should we switch to linux
With Linux you’re embracing open source software and a great community. If you have passion for computers in general, learning Linux is a lot of fun and in some cases can also open new possibilities professionally.
@@eflinux yes i know it is a great fun i switch linux a lot ,but i want to ask is there some specific jobs for it
You start with Linux System Administrator and build up from there.
@@eflinux ok thanks 😊
What software do you use for Virtual machines? Virtual Box?
No, it’s KVM.
@@eflinuxis there a reason you use KVM over virtual box?
thank you for this tutorial. very clear and helpfull

Thanks Michael! No, you don't need to do that if you stay in your local network.
Brother, this is an AMAZING video!!!!!!🎉 One of the best and most helpful explanations I have come across. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!! 🙏🏽 🎉🥳
Did you open a browser on ubuntu server to visit the ip?
I wanna know that same thing.
He is using vm box didn't open it in the server

Is it possible to use nextcloud with plex ? Currently I am using samba for File server and plex for media streaming .
Good question, haven’t tried that yet.

thankyou , i doing install nextcloud with same this clips . But now, how to connect database Mysql, for example : Benchmark mysql or Navicate soft ..
The command you used to adding a trusted domains did not work. Returned this error “the -value option does not exist”
Did you add -value or --value?
There is a mistake, to add a domain use "set", not "get", in config:system:set .....

Great tutorial! May i know how to add additional storage?
My server went down after a power outage. What command do I use to start nextcloud again after login?
For this particular step, will I be able to connect to my Nextcloud from the outside local network?? For example, I have my Ubuntu Server running for 24/7 at my home and I want to transfer some files from my school to my Nextcloud inside my Ubuntu Server. Can I do that too??
Very precise - Thank you. What would be the next steps? How to secure it, and how to make it available from outside your network?
If you get an error saying the -value option does not exist when adding the domain, switch it to -default-value
I cant login into cockpit with the same credentials as the nextcloud setup? how can i change that
Using a static IP is recommended then, right?
Yes, if you are planning to have external access. For a local network you can assign an ip to the server.
@@eflinux thank you ermanno! I have to study a little more about static/dynamic IPs.

Hey how to change the nextcloud port that is listening to? say port 81?
can't flash the ubuntu server.iso onto my flashdrive, doesn't work

how to port forward if you don't have router
Thank, plz show me how to NAT nextcloud with free DNS No-ip and trust domain .
thanks for your help
ok, but I didn't understand what nextcloud is and how to use it
It is like having your private Google Drive.
@@eflinux so you also need a client on each machine that will use the server, right?
If you want to. It is always accessible through the browser, though.
