  • This is my first video since long time. I am going to take some time here and a create the foundation of Arch Linux by doing a base install. There are a lot of info here about utilities used and they should provide you with a deeper understanding on to manage your system. This is the base on top of which you'll be able to complete the system with a DE or a WM. The next video with Sway is going to build on top of this one.

Ermanno, this is such a great tutorial for a base install. Thank you so much for your time putting this together. It is 8 months old now and I see the channel appears to have stop publishing. The next one in this series is greatly missed. I hope you are ok and just busy with life and will be in a position to continue creating your excellent content in the near future.

one of the things i love to do these days, is watching arch installs. The base install is almost identical, with some small details everyone does differently. However i like to see what packages people consider required nowadays. i learned a lot from this channel, can't thank you enough. I hope you are well my friend, and i'll be here (i hope) to watch your next arch install :)

Thank you very much, Ermanno! I've been using your videos to learn the basics of an Arch linux installation since your persistent USB stick videos! Seeing you come back just in time for my first dual boot was amazing and I look forward to the next installation of this updated series. You teach me about Arch better than everyone else I've looked towards, and for the many arch installations I've done so far, they were all made easier to understand and execute because of you. Glad to see you're back!

I'm happy to see you again Ermanno. This video was very interesing because you added new features since your last videos. I wrote some of them.
I would like to ask you to leave 3 lines from the top and another 3 before the end of the screen, because every time I have to pause the video TH-cam overlaps a header and a footer, and often it covers part of the text you wrote there.
And a last request for future videos: It would be possible an Arch Linux without systemd?
That's all. Thank you very much.

A good title for this video would be "Linux tty install for new Linux users", or maybe (wrong but clearer for them) "Linux terminal install for new Linux users." Not sure that "The Foundation" is the best for searchabaility in on TH-cam. I hope that this video will help ome some beginning Linux users to install Arch or maybe Ubuntu server or whatever and have this be the first step in learning to use the terminal and maybe more (some 'hacking', configuring a tiling window manager, some programming to get something useful done...).
