I just hate this tendency to dislike someone because they speak properly, have good manners, don't swear , are well dressed and went to private school. We all come from different circumstances in life, If someone's parents' have the resources to send them to a non state school (and boy are those State schools awful) why wouldn't they. I came from a deprived area of Liverpool but I have never felt resentment to those who are and we're, in better circumstances than me. I just felt that I had to strive hard to make something of myself and I did. Society will never be equal, ever. Let's face facts. Some people are very intelligent, inherently. Others are very talented, creative inventive or entrepreneurial. But these people are a minority. Most people, including many who have been to University, are just not that bright. It has always been this way and always will be regardless of attempts at social engineering.

And even as a kid I was kind of embarrassed to care about something so superficial as it wasn't very hard to see that tribal identity was sad and lame. As an adult I can see that real, genuine, functional tribes have standards and some kind of elder, wise leaders who imposes rules and penalties on conduct and create a fair structure that can serve an important moral purpose. Yep. The trouble is that the left seems to be driven by movement. If you aren't moving left, then you aren't left. They will never stop and I think that is what differentiates a Liberal from a leftist. A liberal has a principled goal in mind, a leftist, whether they know it or not, is advocating for perpetual revolution.

At a time when socio-economic inequality in Britain is at unprecedented levels, there is no shortage of real problems. Those whose privilege it is not to worry about feeding their children or paying the gas bill seem compelled to supply us all with imaginary problems. How rapidly this nonsense would vanish if we found ourselves at war, be it international or civil. The risk of which is quietly increasing while our society spirals ever downward.

What chilled me about this interview was his son saying that Social Justice was his favourite subject. Is Social Justice as such really a school subject? And what the hell are these kids being taught? It's frightening.
pp312 Don't really see a problem with social justice, or just justice if we follow Fox's father's line of thinking. There's no justice in billionaires and their media and political whores hoarding the most and the best and pulling up the ladder behind them.
Alvida Hamesha except the fact that is entirely sinister in its very message. Everything you just said there essentially boils down to a tear jerking attempt to vouch for policing people’s free will, using humanity and compassion as a moral smokescreen to try and mask the totalitarian movement from what it really is. It may be non compassionate, but people are free to look out for themselves without caring about the less fortunate. And they shouldn’t be demonized for exercising that freedom as long as they don’t directly infringe on the freedom of others.
Alvida Hamesha I may be a jerk, but I’m just standing up for what the law is supposed to do, which is protecting people’s freedom rather than force them to act in a certain way. I have said nothing hateful nor bigoted, yet you immediately fling those out along with the Hitler card, showing just how little of an intellectual argument you have thus having to resort to labels and fear mongering. Nobody has a responsibility to look out for the well-being of someone unrelated to them. That kind of life died out when society evolved from tribal communities that needed their members to survive for the benefit of the whole. Now we don’t care about random strangers because their survival has no impact on our continued existence. Plus, though you might not like this, life isn’t fair. It never has been nor will ever be. People are born into varying circumstances which set them up with differing degrees of chance in life. Laws exist to try and level that playing field as much as possible and give people an equal opportunity towards success. But laws that seek to forcibly ensure an equal outcome are invasive in nature and infringe on the rights and freedoms of some to try and lift up others.
Sorry, Alvida. You played the Hitler card. That means you're out of the game. Also, I noticed you used the phrase 'Socialist Justice' where I said Social Justice. I wonder if that was a Freudian slip.
Michael Lyle Bit of a contradiction in terms there, Michael. If you are "not caring about the less fortunate" then you are infringing on their rights! What you are really saying is, "I want the freedom to be sociopathic without a lot of tiresome carping from normies", which is essentially the right- and left-wing libertarian position.
Good point. I would imagine the entertainment industry is similar to America's in terms of their "tolerance". If a popular American actor came out with the same statements as this wonderful Mr. Fox, he would be scolded publicly to the point where his popularity and income were in serious jeopardy.
He is genuinely putting potential work at risk, and the guy has 3 kids. So i suppose you could forgive him for keeping it zipped like MANY actors do. So, respect. And what he says is true, why would you want to work for leftist, diversity obsessed, identatarians?
@Alvida Hamesha you prove his point, to such an extent that you are probably trolling. You're either a troll or obsessed with race, racists like you need to learn that people's colour doesn't matter. Take his words for what they are, not for the colour of their speaker.

Even when they are directly affected, some don't complain, but instead double-down on even more wokeness - viz the Twitter reaction of the father of the poor man killed the other day by the Islamic terrorist on Westminster Bridge.
@Londonfogey. Yes, I'm afraid your right, I've seen that happen a few times in the English speaking world. Torries, Labor, media, businesses + a few others have gone full woke, quietly. The trust of the people have been betrayed. In politics I'd be betting on Nigel Farage.
Talking of covert censorship I'll tell you just how far it has penetrated the arts. I'm a poet. Ive read my poems on a radio programme and performed them with others at poetry events. When I first started to do it I noticed that all the others were quite political, left wing in fact. So lots of diatribes against Trump and Brexit etc. Lots of feminists performing their anti men stuff too. I began to wonder where the real poets where. In competitions' it's nearly always the politically correct ones who win therefore a gay person writing about their struggle as a gay person etc. On my last radio show this year I had written a poem in tribute to Osip Mandlestam the great Russian poet who wrote a poem critical of Stalin and who died of hard labour and starvation in the Gulag. I criticised the communist ideology that ked to his death in my intro to the poem. I haven't been invited back even though I'd been on three times previously. Coincidence? I don't think so. If you don't conform these days they won't publish you or allow you to speak. That's how bad it's getting even in the esoteric poetry sector. I doubt if The Wasteland by T,'S. Eliot would be published today.
@@davidwilliams4832 I've no doubt they would come up with something absurd, if they answered you at all. Nonetheless I think it is the sacred duty of those who believe in sanity to be the bugbear of these stooges. It's not going to be nice or comfortable for us, but then again things are already neither nice nor comfortable. There are still those who would cheer you for striking back. I say go get 'em!
I had a similar experience just publishing my writings in poetry circles online. The problem for them is, nobody cares. They are a vanishingly small minority, though they have this or that cultural artery by the throat, they cannot make humanity submit. Nobody cares about the establishment and elite arts including literature insofar as it has become a PC cult, hence why officially lauded poets are dirt poor and indefinitely obscure. Go out into the real world: everybody hates them or doesn't care. It shouldn't be that way but they have chosen to side with sociopoliticized ideological nonsense over the aesthetic and intellectual realities as well as the raw people and it will redound upon their arrogantly ignorant heads.
What a very interesting interview at last someone that speaks how a big majority of people feel it's just a shame that their is not more people out there with the balls to do so .Thank you Laurence Fox
The problem is the complete abscence of class diversity and the now overwhelming dominance of middle class women, one of the least diverse and most privileged groups ever to have existed, in the bureaucracies of culture. Just take a look at the people atop BAFTA, BBC commissioning organisations, ACGB etc etc. The lack of diversity is astonishing. Also. over-promoted mediocrities are self replicating and have nowhere else to go.

Emily You nailed it I’m so few words
We're also encouraged to be "tolerant" but have you ever noticed that the people who speak the loudest about this become rather IN-tolerant when they hear something that disagrees with their views?
"diverse opinion" is perfectly ok. (if we're talking actual opinions not hateful or absurd propaganda talking points) but the problem is people don't want to have to deal with confrontation and accountability for what they say . If you want to have the right to express "your"opinion accept the fact that someone will oppose "you" with their own and challenge "you" and they also have the right to do so! For example when Laurence Fox says it's odd to include a Sikh soldier in world war film alongside other British soldiers. He should accept the idea that people have the right to call him out for it! Especially since his comment is at odd with historical facts! 20% of the British Army were actually Sikh men!
Can we stop copying American speech patterns and stop saying “This”.

@@paulukjames7799 Don't feel alone, the American "news" media does the same thing. They try to show only one side and tell everyone (or try to) how they should think. A perfect example is how the media talks about President Trump. President Obama said that 2% growth in our economy was the "new normal" (a direct quote) yet under Trump we have 3% growth and his first term isn't over. We have a +50 year low in unemployment, our stock market is setting records, the trade deficit with China is rapidly decreasing and we have more jobs than people to fill them and that is only going to increase. In fact, from what I've read, Trump has created more jobs in under 4 years than Obama did in his 8 years total. yeah, I cringe at some of the things he (Trump) says, but I love his results.
This 'downward aspiration', for want of a better term, has been a thing for several decades. It's depressing and infuriating in equal measure to hear nice, white,, otherwise respectable young people make themselves ridiculous by aping the speech patterns of uneducated 'urban' youths, for example.

This man needs to write. He's extremely articulate. And brave. Not easy to 'come out' (as it were) as sensible in his business. Top man.

He is genuinely putting potential work at risk, and the guy has 3 kids. So i suppose you could forgive him for keeping it zipped like MANY actors do. So, respect. And what he says is true, why would you want to work for leftist, diversity obsessed, identatarians?
Alvida Hamesha How is he a hate preacher? Back up your points or gtfo
@Alvida Hamesha you prove his point, to such an extent that you are probably trolling. You're either a troll or obsessed with race, racists like you need to learn that people's colour doesn't matter. Take his words for what they are, not for the colour of their speaker.
