It's the worst when you feel too guilty to do something fun, but can't get yourself to work either, so you're stuck in this unpleant state of wasting time while you could have been working or at least procrastinating in a fun way.

I've tried so hard to stop procrastinating but it's so difficult. I do well and follow a routine for a while but then something happens that changes the routine and I end up delaying again. Basically, I have no commitment.
So many people act as if we choose to procrastinate. Or as if it's just some behavior ir mentality that we do. Chronic procrastination is a real issue that we have no control over. We can't just break the habit and we can't just do our work. That's like telling a depressed person that going outside will make them feel better. It's not that simple. We genuinely cannot bring ourselves to do it.
There's definitely a line between casual procrastination and chronic avoidance to the point it starts ruining your life. I wish there was less stigma and more mental health support for the latter

“If you had just listened to that good ole pre-frontal cortex” Saying things like this just exacerbates the problem and contributed to even higher levels of “guilt, low confidence, and depression”. The persuasion by fear only goes so far before it becomes even more paralyzing than before watching the video at all. Chronic procrastination is a product of fear and irrationality. By trying to scare the scared more and saying this like “Just...” probably isn’t the best technique.

I wish videos about procrastinating stopped emphasizing how bad it is. I know it's bad, but starting by talking about that only makes me anxious, and not more motivated to stop procrastinating, because I wanted to stop procrastinanting in the first place anyway.
I think what many scientists neglect in these studies is how anhedonia, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental conditions, caused by the daily grind or adverse/abusive conditioning throughout youth development, can compel ppl to NOTwork hard, not try, desperately cling to positive stimulants because we're so starved for the healthy, standard, regulated dose of dopamine, we're mistreated enough to go from extroverts as kids, to introverts (or those with implosive emotional reactions) as adults due to oppression in or outside the home. So we now drudge ourselves along out of obligation to survive, but still crippled by our circumstances enough that we put off important things for just a bit more of a vice or distraction.
I just discovered I’m a chronic procrastinator, I feel like shit. It’s weird because I have tried so many times and people say like “just forgive yourself” “don’t be harsh” but then I try doing that and it doesn’t help at all, I feel no difference afterwards. I feel like I’m wasting my time, but when im procrastinating it’s like I have no power to stop it, and then boom, wasted like another day of my life just playing videogames and nothing else.
I never have late homework but I’m still a chronic procrastinator. I never do what I tell myself I’m gonna do, and next thing I know it, it’s 1 am and I’m doing all my homework. I had a four day weekend and I DID NOTHING
@@lillian3852 bro tell me about it, it’s gotten so bad, I have mock exams in two days and I’ve not revised?? I had since September I don’t know what’s wrong with me😭
Procrastination isn't a feel good mechanism, in some cases, in CPTSD, it is a fear response; in some other cases, as in ADHD, it is a variation in brain structure and function.
I'm having anxiety by procrastinating, and my anxiety got worst with my friends,I lose my motivation because of anxiety,so I procrastinate a lot,but I still finish something in a day
I think procrastination is linked to the inability to know from where to start the particular. You can either mentally prepare yourself before starting it by planning it and breaking it down into smaller tasks. Also, listening music especially rock or metallica helps with concentration and anxiety.
I no longer wait to do things until the last minute, i just dont do them. I'm almost forced to slowly watch myself waste my life away. Its a never ending cycle that gets worse and worse.
No matter what happens, you're still you. You are where you are and everything is alright. You got to stop resisting the feeling of procrastination in order for you to move forward. This is an important first step to feeling better about taking action.
I agree more with the video. It feels horrible when you procrastinate, but once you're to used to do it you can help it and you feel even worse. Since you feel bad you procrastinate even more. It's a vicious circle.
@@KhalerJex Sometimes you just feel overwhelmed with all the stuff you have to do, for example, in my first year at college I was having a hard time with the subjects and I didn't want to sit down to study and do the exercises because I didn't understand shit. Therefore, I started studying too late, I did bad in the exams and I felt horrible because I knew I had wasted my time and that everything would had been right if I'd started studying earlier. Then I felt lack of self-confidance because I thought I wasn't good enough for my degree. As soon as I stopped procrastinating that much and I improved my grades, I started feeling fine again. So, in my case, the reason of chronical procrastination was having to do many things at the same time without knowing how to start.
I’m a chronic procrastinator when it comes to school I have 4 posters to complete 7 band assignments 3 PowerPoints to complete in math And 95 missed zoom calls
I have found that most people don’t procrastinate on purpose. It’s actually a stress response and also a huge symptom of adhd especially if you desire to do the tasks - yet just can’t execute them with willpower alone- also known as executive dysfunction disorder. So be kind to yourself and get tested as well.
“And then before you know an hour has gone by.” I’m 15. In 2nd class from my school system I used to procrastinate sometimes, but just an hour or some. If I came out of school at 2:15, I would do an hour of procrastinating and sometimes more. If I was at around 4:30, I would feel really guilty that I hadn’t done anything at all, which is good, cuz otherwise I wouldn’t be able to get myself together. This only happened once in a few weeks, so it wasn’t a big deal really. Now in third class (diff school system to England), also at the end (I hope) of corona, I also procrastinate. Not a bit or 2 hours or so, but a WHOLE day. Then I start with working at 10pm, and am done at 12, then I would ‘relaxe’ in my dark room till 1 am and after sleep. It’s quite extreme, also for if u have a school day starting at 8 am. When I’m procrastinating homework, I only do it on my phone. Has anyone got a solution or something useful that might help? Or does anyone have about the same problem? Would really appreciate an answer from someone. Life is shit at the moment ehheh
I would suggest doing small bits of a task for up to 5 mins. Or break up the total task into small itmes and slowly chip away at it. Making small progress can build momentum.
I struggle with procrastination because of having f***ing ADHD and can't get my brain to accept the fact that I must get my homework done or else I'll fail my classes at the college I attend.

i got kicked out of college just because i procrastinated on all my assignments and i would like to try college again but im too afraid im going to make the same mistake and on top of that i procrastinate on finding a job so i can quit the job i hate now
at first i agreed but then my opinion changed.. why? i am addicted to procrastination and i hate short term tasks.. but i find it easier to focus on long term tasks because they require less immediate commitment. i can do ti bit by bit when i get a sudden surge of desire to do something for about half an hour, sometimes a bit more. on the other hand, procrastination has massively helped me in other ways for example i had more time to think and figure out how i could achieve acceptable results with less effort. it took years but looking back it was worth it of course at the expense of good grades but surprise surprise.. grades arent everything. i feel my thinking has become more flexible and adaptable thanks to procrastinating all these years. in the end it matters where you draw the line - being lazy and procrastinating are not the same thing
Procrastination is not too kind to only stop at "low self-confidence", "low energy", "depression". It means getting malnourished at 15BMI, intermittent sleep schedule to 1 to 8 hours depending on a day, not affording time to socialize with people, people misunderstand what I say because I get lazy to explain to detail. This is what procrastination is at its full throttle. It's not just mental effects.
on the first day of school as a very severe procrastinator I tried to finish my assignments on time, the reason was quite ridiculous because I thought the google classroom could not be late or would be closed, one night I was late in sending a video assignment, I cried because I was afraid that my video could not be sent, there I swear I will be diligent, and after finding out that it can still be sent even though I'm late I start to be lazy to send assignments or even forget about

I wish videos about procrastinating stopped emphasizing how bad it is. I know it's bad, but starting by talking about that only makes me anxious, and not more motivated to stop procrastinating, because I wanted to stop procrastinanting in the first place anyway.
I'll watch this later
i don't even realise how much i procrastinate until the time there is a deadline glaring into my face and i have nothing done
I am way past the deadline still procasting
Same
I prefer, "Master Procrastinator", thank you very much.
😂😂
I had 5 months to study for a huge final exam, i haven't studied shit, now the exam is after 1 week and i'm screwed.
I have ADD and am kind of an involuntary procrastinator :'( It really sucks and I feel bad every day for not getting started with stuff.
I never have late homework but I’m still a chronic procrastinator. I never do what I tell myself I’m gonna do, and next thing I know it, it’s 1 am and I’m doing all my homework. I had a four day weekend and I DID NOTHING
this!
@ I’m in college now, it has NOT gotten better omg 😭
I decided to procrastinate my homework when I started watching this video
No matter what happens, you're still you. You are where you are and everything is alright. You got to stop resisting the feeling of procrastination in order for you to move forward.
This is an important first step to feeling better about taking action.
True
Maybe, just maybe, is not the procastination that causes the depression, low self steem and anxiety, but the opposite? maybe? just fuckin maybe???
Agree!
I agree more with the video. It feels horrible when you procrastinate, but once you're to used to do it you can help it and you feel even worse. Since you feel bad you procrastinate even more. It's a vicious circle.
But what the hell drives people to procastinate *chronically* ???
This is your personal experience. I wanna know about it in the broader scale. Actually, I might have already told you what causes it in broader scale.
I’m a chronic procrastinator when it comes to school
I have 4 posters to complete
7 band assignments
3 PowerPoints to complete in math
And 95 missed zoom calls
i procrastinate even on the final date of a deadline or even past it at times
I have found that most people don’t procrastinate on purpose. It’s actually a stress response and also a huge symptom of adhd especially if you desire to do the tasks - yet just can’t execute them with willpower alone- also known as executive dysfunction disorder. So be kind to yourself and get tested as well.
“And then before you know an hour has gone by.”
Life is shit at the moment ehheh
do drugs
I would suggest doing small bits of a task for up to 5 mins. Or break up the total task into small itmes and slowly chip away at it. Making small progress can build momentum.
I am a procrastinator in case of studies but a active bee to do things I love like singing, dancing, stitching, cooking, e.t.c.
I struggle with procrastination because of having f***ing ADHD and can't get my brain to accept the fact that I must get my homework done or else I'll fail my classes at the college I attend.
The reason I procrastinate is I have no motivation to finish my work.
The way Hidden Time Wealth dives into the concept of productivity is mind-blowing. Hidden Time Wealth tips are pure gold, and I wish more people knew about them.
The concept of Hidden Time Wealth blew my mind. It’s like finding a cheat code for productivity and defeating procrastination.

How to overcome procrastination bro....pls make a video for its remedy
"I'm a procrastinator, if you don't know what that means then I will tell you later"
I was given a four page essay over a week ago that I've barely started. It's now Thanksgiving break and I'm already down to one page left and I pretty much know what I want to write so I think I'll be fine.
Paused the video, I'm procrastinating it by reading comments
What helped me, besides clarifying undefined goals/tasks, is to complete them no matter how good the quality of it is at the end. If you accomplished at least one part of it, you feel like a king a dopamine kicks in.
It was worse before I even procrastinate. It's not a cause of anxiety and that, it's more of a result of it.
Procrastinating is one of the worst habits and it's not easy to break.
Everyone who is trying, good luck! 💪🏻
I turned out to b rather super stressed, lacking self value, self confidence, lacking knowledge, followed by lack of interests n a lot more bringing my life to a down troll
0:48 you mean the CHAD part or the brain lol
I refuse my brain to be a chad. I need to stop
"Do the work RIGHT NOW. You might even enjoy that TV show even more, once you get to it."
IF, you get to it ^-^"
There's always more to be done, and when first I've shifted into "doing" mode, it's hard to stop. To the point where I end up procrastinating bedtime, from continuing to do what needs done ^-^"
For the rest, thus vid hits a little too close to home ^-^"
I have Always thought that People Work Like me, recently i found out im a procrastinator, i have found out that my mental health is PRETTYYY ffd up
*saves this video for later
I’m day 3 into procrastinating, for these few days I’ve payed in bed on my phone and only got up to eat instead of studying and catching up on school. And now I’m here
"each one of us have procrastinated at some point in our life " never laughed so hard
I'm crying because i cannot do the work because of procastination
Bro described me and I want to stop procrastinating but how
Hidden Time Wealth blew my mind. I’ve shared it with friends, and they’re all amazed at how much more productive they've become.

"I'll do it tomorrow... There IS NO tomorrow!!!".
So if you have low self confidence, depression, and low energy, does it even matter anymore?
After 2 years, finally decided to watch it..
Very true!
I experienced all the symptoms mentioned in this video.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I'm struggling to overcome it. It helped me a lot.
The only sad thing is that there's nothing you can change about being a procrastinator. Doing courses won't help.
Hidden Time Wealth is so unique. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard about it sooner. It’s amazing how life-changing this can be for anyone battling procrastination.
Watching about procrastination while procrastinating 😂😂 😂
You guys should include your references in the description to seem more reliable, or else it can seem like you're pulling the facts out of thin air. As an example, scishow includes their sources in their description. Just a suggestion, keep up the great work!

Turned in my Summer assignment two months late. Talk about procrastination.
You’ve made such a complicated topic feel simple.
As a guy who is grade 12 student in senior high, I procrastinate one, I mean one of the most important parts, its actually work immersion, I need to pass my requirements before the deadline, I spend one week procrastinating it, and i have to settle it asap. Also thank you for the information and knowledge that you show to us Sir.👍
Theyre right about the low self esteem, energy, and depression, i got all of the above
If you want to procrastinate less and concentrate better on studying you can study with me here.
Instead of watching videos on youtube you have a video of me studying and keeping you company, so you don't get distracted.
I study for 1-3 hours with breaks in between while I keep you company
If you're interested, feel free to study with study videos of mine
Hopefully it will be useful for you ❤
one time my friend procrastinated on a project we had 2 weeks to work on and he had to do it the day before it was due
i got kicked out of college just because i procrastinated on all my assignments and i would like to try college again but im too afraid im going to make the same mistake and on top of that i procrastinate on finding a job so i can quit the job i hate now
at first i agreed but then my opinion changed.. why? i am addicted to procrastination and i hate short term tasks.. but i find it easier to focus on long term tasks because they require less immediate commitment. i can do ti bit by bit when i get a sudden surge of desire to do something for about half an hour, sometimes a bit more. on the other hand, procrastination has massively helped me in other ways for example i had more time to think and figure out how i could achieve acceptable results with less effort. it took years but looking back it was worth it of course at the expense of good grades but surprise surprise.. grades arent everything. i feel my thinking has become more flexible and adaptable thanks to procrastinating all these years. in the end it matters where you draw the line - being lazy and procrastinating are not the same thing
My thought process has improved a lot. But bad part is I'm both procrastinator n lazy too.
I really needed this video , I procrastinate way too much!😭😭😭😭😭
No you don't need this video. You need to start getting things done.
Same!!
This video does shit learned nuthin
eh i will finish thi..
Boi! I’m procrastinating rn by watching it vids man
Thank you! I needed this motivation!
on the first day of school as a very severe procrastinator I tried to finish my assignments on time, the reason was quite ridiculous because I thought the google classroom could not be late or would be closed, one night I was late in sending a video assignment, I cried because I was afraid that my video could not be sent, there I swear I will be diligent, and after finding out that it can still be sent even though I'm late I start to be lazy to send assignments or even forget about
I am literally saving this video to watch later🙂
